Neither are the rainbows. Many people don't realize that rainbows are only native to the west coast states but have been well established from coast to coast. Either way, we're glad to have them!

I’m a medical student and have a huge respect for the fly name hantavirus. For those who don’t know hantavirus is a bunyavirus, RNA- sense. It is transmitted by mice. I must buy one now.

Hi, nice fishing, that first fish you caught is just a little bit bigger than the mouse fly i use during the mouse plague here in NZ! Well I exaggerate a bit, after all I am an angler. A few years ago I went fishing with an American angler on his visit to Aotearoa and we fished Lake Okataina in thre Bay of Plenty. We had a good days fishing but my American friend was getting pissed off with me telling him to put his catch back into the water as the fish were too small. He asked “how big do these fish have to be before I can keep one ?”. The regulations for that water was at that time 55cm (22 inches approx.)! He finally hooked into a decent jack and was told that he could keep that one but if he fished Lake Tarawera he would have to give it to the hatchery, he loved the fishing but to this day he swears that I was exaggerating. I'd like to see actual data claiming 65F is stressful to rainbows and browns. MAYBE for brook trout, but this has not been my experience over the past 40 years in the field.
@slimandlean
@slimandlean 3 года назад
From my experience, when I go fishing the day after “the really warm day”, I see a lot of dead fish (trout) on the bank from inexperienced handlers and potentially too warm of water. It might be a stretch but the end note is to just keep the fishes health in mind! 😊🤙 tight lines

The data shows 68F has a slight increase in mortality and 73F more significant mortality. The percentage points were in the single digits to low teens. According to the data posted below, no mortality was shown at 65F.

Yeah… I won’t pay for a guide 800 miles away to catch those caliber fish. Most cases multiple 20-24” a night on mice are basically expected and chances at 15” brookies in select body’s of water. Day time 3 miles away from home I have better size averages on a creek as well. I’ll stay in Wisconsin.

Lol saying that Sheridan is special and there is probably areas as good when fishing what I'm 90% sure is private property. The public water has so much pressure around Sheridan and it's one of my least favorite places to fish in Wyoming.
