Not without decent public transit. International travelers don't find places like this in the US desirable because they're used to getting around on foot / transit. This is made nearly impossible here considering there's only an hourly bus that goes from KCI to downtown, and it doesn't even operate past midnight / before 5 am.
I live very near the airport in KC and I can tell you I haven’t noticed a bit of difference. People don’t travel to a city just because it has a nice airport.
Half the size? No. It’s footprint might be less, but each terminal of the old airport had a single-level. This one is multistory. It has thrice the capacity, supposedly.
