He’s right. The America we remember is gone for good. The music, downtowns, old buildings with character all gone. Strip mall and parking lots at the edge of town. Parks with nothing in em.
Genuine and honest? Hardly. I must say, I much prefer this style to his '70s disco garbage, as Steve Leach and the Crystal Grass Orchestra. I mean it was so terrible it's no wonder he reinvented himself as this fake hobo persona. "Bringing It All Back Home"?? Shoulda filmed it at Studio 54, Steve. lol
first time i hear Seasick Steve was in 2008, its just amazing how he went from the streets to perform in the most important festivals all over the world !!
NO. He didn't go Straight from the streets, he's had a LONG music career: www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2016/sep/29/seasick-steve-session-musician-ramblin-man-book

Hi y'all. My name is Bus Sick Mick. I'z been a riding buses for about 30 years now, I buy a mega rider and ride those old dang buses all day to keep warm. I been a writing poetry all that time... Then one day my girlfriend dang took me off the buses, she's a fine secretary. She done gone and typed out all my poems real nice y'all. Then one day the head of Faber and Faber sat down next to me on the number 14 as I was fixin' to write a poem. He said he liked my poems they were real purdy he said. So now I'z got one of them interviews with someone from the Times Literary Supplement. My uncle... ahem, My agent said little ole me should do it in a bus station, he said my words look purdy and will tug at the ole heart strings.
Steve, tell them about living in Castro Valley, CA in the late 60s.. You only lived there for one year but I sure remember you! From Castro Valley High school, of course....
So sad that his whole story is a lie, and that an investigative journalist so easily uncovered the true story that he was a pro recording musician when he claimed he was homeless etc.
