I think we should include the drummer when giving Steve appreciation! The drummer couldn’t be replaced by just any ol’ “stick man” because he adds so much mood and intensity - plus the guy injects so much of his personality, and obviously helps push Steve along !! 😎 ARE WE HAVING FUN YET? 😎
saw the man in a country pub in New Zealand three years ago (The Mangawhai Tavern ..legendary). Just the best concert ...and me at 65 saying one of the best I have ever seen...and by sheer chance having my 24 year old son being in town the same same day who came with me. ..and he saying that Seasick is in his top 3 ...ever! So cool for an old fart to share Steve with my son..a treasured memory forever...Steve you will never know how cool that evening was for me
it is amazing to see this crowd of so many young people enjoying this kind of music! Seasick Steve is my generation - and he seems to build bridges! I love this, the togetherness and generation-spanning enjoyment of this music 😀
This man, and his band, can rock the blues. I play guitar and have a 3 string cigar box guitar. Love the nasty bluesy sounds they make. You know what I really like about Steve? The fact that he loves what he does comes across big time, and I envy him for that!!
Don't take this music for granted because he has actually captured the essence of swamp Blues delta blues and the traditional roots of homemade instruments that started the blues music , don't forget about the drummer which is fantastic --this dude is right on it.... Jean-Paul is appreciating and having a blast living in the moment .
Went to his concert yesterday, for the second time. Best performance i have ever seen. It was amazing. If you ever have the chance to go and see him, dont hesitate.
Amazing concert! JPJ is phenomenal and having just discovered Seasick Steve, I am very impressed. He seems genuine and has caught the essence of the blues.
fuck,I'm at your walking men part and I heard it three times, since I know Seasick (yes you,if you here with your eyes reading!!!)and the third time now,I realy come a little to tears! Is a unbelievable LoveSong to a lovely woman - your wife will be lucky to be with ya Steve - it's nice!!
I was just taking a look at some musicians on RU-vid and I discovered this guy... And I wonder, why took me so long to get to know about this guy... And playing with Mr. John Paul Jones Amazing this man!!! Thumbs up!!!!!
thanks for he post, love the delta blues.I am living in the calif.delta area and we just had elvin bishop play at our little marina park on saturday,so we share at least musical tastes with the mississippi dawgs.
Seasick Steve has to, needs to and it is imperative that he jams with CLUTCH, that will be the music to pave our road out of this world before this politicians bring us the final war.
If I got one free (a wish) I would play the drums on a event = rockin with da Mr, Seasick Steve! This drummer here does it realy great ( pretty awsome!!) and I will give my best to get little close to him (Drums) - I will try... Oyes!!Great Ensemble, great Gig!!!Or support Steve with Rythm Guitar - my second dream!!!
Steve and the drummer cook , JPJ man i played with the doohickey and got his bass out front , dear god he could snap knicker elastic with that skill , feel , groove . Damn .
Shes smilin like a Sweet Southern Girl, Lovin be'n there but is not use to this much attention!! Ive been following Steve for 15 yrs!! So simple its complicated in his playing!
Not sure where exactly Seasick Steve was recommended to me, maybe it has to do with that I'm interested in the early B-52s albums and Ricky played with five or four strings depending on the song. Mark Sandman played with two strings on his bass, Chris Ballew plays with two or three depending on if he's playing in the band or solo. Still, I'm liking this a whole lot.
