Cool fact about the end being the first use of stock footage. I also love Larry starting laugh at the gavel flying in the air before he catches himself lol
Great job! I really enjoy your videos. You did miss a blooper when Curly loses his shoe when dancing with the girls. Love that scene. Keep up the great work!
Rick, love your videos! You missed a blooper at 3:06 where they are walking out the door backwards, and Larry's musket lands on Moe's hat and Moe's hat almost comes off.
I do remember the bucket having no bottom ... it just never registered for me as a kid it was a safety precaution. I don't remember the Indian fixing his wig lol. Speaking of being offended... it seems like it doesn't take much these day for that to happen. I guess we've lost our sense of humor about ourselves. I'm glad the Stooges didn't.:o)
Rick- you totally missed six bloopers in this one. 1- In the courtroom, the table in front of the judge's desk, moves out of camera range, 2- The judge's tie changes lengths several times, 3- When they enter the governor's house, they slam their guns down and miss Curly's foot but he winces, 4- Curly loses his shoe during the dance, 5- when the Chief says "How" his arm is extended straight up and the next scene, it is bent at the elbow, and 6- when the Chief is taking his payment, the Stooges are standing, cut away to the Chief, cut back to the Stooges, they are seated, cut back to the Chief and cut back to the standing Stooges. Hope these help.
I found two more. 1- the bee hive that they launch at the Indians has a branch attached, but when it hits it's target, it has no branch on it. 2- When Larry is tied to the tree and Moe and Curly are coming to his rescue, Moe has 3 feathers in his Indian costume and Curly has two. But dancing behind the Indians Moe still has 3 but Curly has only one.
Rick's own blooper: at just before 1:50, 'judge' pounds gavel and Rick says 'gravel'. wonder if Curly, Larry & Moe pointed that out in their blooper video about Rick's commentaries
Another enjoyable "bloopers, facts, and more" episode. The IMDB.Com page on this lists actor Vernon Dent as playing the "Governor," yet you didn't include a scene with him. As every Stooge fan knows, Vernon Dent played the "foil" to the Stooges in countless shorts. This may have been his first Stooge short, or close to it. As you move along covering the Stooges in order, I'm sure you'll be bringing up facts and trivia about him, as he appears more and more.
+Michael A Williams He has appeared previously and I know about him. Check out my Dizzy Doctors video. I call him one of the supporting 3 Stooges with Bud Jamison and Emil Sitka. :)
Hi, Rick. I figured you were aware of Vernon Dent's contribution to the Stooges shorts. Dent and Shemp had many comic fights in some of the shorts, but off screen it's said they were the best of friends. Bud Jamison was also a fixture in many Stooges shorts, in fact, some of their best. Unfortunately, he died an early death in 1944 at age 49 of a heart attack, due to an untreated infection. As you know, but many viewers may not, Emile Sitka joined the Stooges in 1947 and made 35 shorts with them until 1958. He almost replaced Larry after Larry had a stroke in 1970, but it didn't work out with Moe's death in 1975. I'm sure you'll be covering Emile in more detail when you get the shorts he was in.
Vernon Dent, as you mentioned, was a long time friend of Shemp. Dent retired in the mid 50s, due to becoming blind as an after effect of diabetes. He had to be helped to the coffin of Shemp, to pay his last respects. Not many people know Dent was born exactly one day after Bud Jamison, only a few miles apart.
Thanks, Dave, for the info on Vernon Dent being born a day after that of Bud Jamison and only a few miles apart, to boot. That was news to me! They were in many 3 Stooges shorts together.
As for the term "Native American": "Native" comes from the Latin _"Nascii"_ (Pronounced NAHS-kee-ee in the classical language), meaning "to be born." Thus it would mean anyone born in America. North or South America, that is.
Please don't be mean to me for being misinformed, but I'm confused. How is the way they portray Indians racist if that's the way they acted a long, long time ago?
