House Of The Dragon Season 2, while we still don't know to much about it doesn't mean we can't infirm many things. Namely that the second season is going to feel very different from season 1 in many different different ways, but most of all in the pace of the story. Season 1 of House Of The Dragon was a remarkable success for HBO, but it is not immune to criticism. Arguably the most often cited being the rushed pace of the shoe namely due to the two huge time jumps in episodes five and seven. Given what we know about season 2 this is not going to be an issue for season 2. But why is this and why is getting the pace right such an important part of ensuring the dance of the dragons works well on screen.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

I am aware of the typo on the title screen. Unfortunately this video was made a while ago before i suffered a huge data loss and all the project files from the last month were lost, was not an issue for most of the videos as they had been uploaded already, just this one, luckily i still had a copy of this slightly earlier cut which i was able to cut out the section i removed in the finished cut, i just couldn't fix the title screen. As annoying as it is to me, i didn't want to scrap the whole video as i felt it was a topic worth talking about. The fact i even had this cut is sheer luck honestly. Lesson of this story is don't rely on Adobes cloud saving.

If you read all the books, watch hours and hours of ASOIAF videos and read all the content on Wiki of Ice and Fire you would follow the show easily throughout the time jumps. I really don't understand what the hullabaloo is all about! 😆😋 Seriously tho, another great video, keep 'em coming!

Because 75 percent of viewers are casual show watchers only. I felt the way you did because after watching the first 3 seasons of GOT I got all the books and saw 100s of videos online talking about the lore so I was never lost. But most casual fans aren't going to do all that homework for a show so HBO has to simplify alot for them.

What i've found is just taking 5 minutes to explain it to someone and it's sorted. That's what the animated lore videos they made for Game Of Thrones were so good, they packaged the lore viewers needed in a quick fire format. House Of The Dragon would have really benefited from something similar.

If anything he is a Bracken/Targ bastard and deserter of the nights watch(despite not taking vows, but that was his sentence) Fix your slogan fool! I do enjoy your comments on these videos though. GRRM likes a lot of backstory going on. Suspect HBO was quite concerned and only would allow 10 episodes (though now they may wish they had gotten more). Was not concerned about the time jumps and especially not concerned with changing the actresses as they are so important to the story and all have done well. I'm glad they had the Great Council and so much that came before and have to agree with GRRM in liking Paddy Considine's King Viserys more than the one in "Fire and Blood"; he became a much more complex individual and it makes the disaster of the Dance for House Targaryan so much stronger. Have been impressed with the casting and writing and actions I have seen.

You can 100% tell GRRM has been more involved and has more of a voice when it comes to HOTD. What i find interesting about the whole backstory debate is GRRM was pushing for HOTD to start way before the great council with Aemon and Baelon The Brave as the leads ending season 1 with the great council. You Then had HBO pushing for starting with the death of Viserys so staring where they did with 101 and Aemma Arryn's Death was the compromise between the two.

@@WorldOfWesteros It's a good compromise though. I think it takes HBO to lose $35M making Bloodmoon's failure pilot; that they simply cannot make any ASOIAF's spin-offs without GRRM's involvement.

I want to believe that I am NOT the only fan who wants to see more characterization of the dragons themselves and their relationships with their riders. In the books we are given examples of traits they possess that each make them unique and delightfully scary. I think the entire cast is great and while I'm not unhappy with the tone, pace and writing I still think and hope that they push this show to be the delight we all want it to be. You mentioned a redemption from the travesty of game of thrones and I think the entire show needs to truly embrace the microscope they are still under, we don't need the show to appeal to everyone it needs to stay true to the story and it's fanbase. Make the fight scenes epic finales and give us other interactions of these characters that separates them better from any other house. I'm afraid they are too busy showing us everyone dying without paying proper respect to allowing us to know and feel for these characters. Season was quick and rushed and we got snippets of characters and only glimpses of the dragons, seconds on screen if that. I'm not expecting a marvel movie but dragons inspire beauty, grace, Justice, power, terror, and horror even. I'd just like a moment to appreciate what these creatures are too this world before they are all gone. Drogon, viserion and rheagal had great moments and plenty of missed opportunities. They just need to make the show so good that in ten years Amazon isn't going to try and remake it for the opportunities missed.

@aegorbittersteel2154 All's fair in love and war. Bittersteel and Amos Bracken are the only good characters House Bracken has ever had. House Blackwood has Bloodraven, Black Aly, Wilhelm,and my personal favorite Bloody Ben. The Brackens wouldn't have been on the receiving end of bloodshed if they hadn't poisoned the Weirwood tree at Raventree Hall.

I definitely hated the time jumps. Just got used to the early actors. There needed to be more transition. A 2nd season (or more) to cover all of S1 would have been appreciated. S1E1 did waste time w/ the live birth which could have been shortened to a bit more than a footnote or done w/ exposition. I understand why they put it in, but they only had so much time to get through all of the content for S1 and the live birth was really not needed or at least not that much of the episode. I've few other complaints other than the pacing issues.

The main concern is who will get cut. A lot of people are still mad about Victorian Greyjoy and Coldhands getting cut from GOT. Even minor characters like Cutter Pyke. So characters like Mushroom, Dalton Greyjoy (Red Kraken), and Daeron Targaryen could get cut, simply because of time and budget constraints.

Honestly i never believed we'd get mushroom in a meaningful way and from what i've been told we're getting Daeron in season 3 as it stands. But if he was to get cut i really stuggle to see how stuff like tumbleton would work. I do wonder what they will do with Dalton Greyjoy i guess it really depends on how far past the hour of the wolf they want to go. Sadly he is a very cuttable character.

@@WorldOfWesteros Dalton Greyjoy might be saved from the chopping block because of the Hour of the Wolf. Stark was convinced that the Greens would keep up the Dance of the Dragons despite Aegon II’s death. But the main reason the green factions of houses Lannister and Baratheon agreed to Lord Corlys’ peace proposals. Was because the Westerlands and Stormlands had more pressing concerns on their very doorsteps. The Lannisters had the Ironborn lead by Dalton Greyjoy tearing up the west. While in the Stormlands, the Baratheons were fighting another Dornish incursion. Both of them essentially had an ancient enemy take advantage of their depleted and scattered strength. Simply hearing about those invasions in a letter or just a few shot scenes, might not make sense.

I don't mind the time-jumps to be honest. It think it served it purpose well. Is it annoying at time? Yes... But It didn't ruin my experience watching the show and the casting is incredible. The decision to replace young Rhaenyra and Alicent mid-season is a smart move. I love both version of the characters. The only problem I have with the time jumps is the fact that they didn't aged Cristen Cole at all. The guy grew about 3 hairs on his beard in the last 10 years. They fixed it in Season 2's trailer, I saw.

I hope the pacing is slower and the producers/writers remember what's fundamental to good story telling, that character development is more important to plots. I hope that they spend most of season 2 pushing for the hatred between the two sides, especially after the murder of Prince Maelor, proving that peace can and reconciliation cannot be achieved. There are a lot of great characters who will be introduced who will draw in viewers, such as Alyn and Addam who I believe people will relate to. The problem is that for ever relatable, likable character one side as the other has to have the same, otherwise the story will suffer. As much as I disliked the Lannisters, I still was sympathetic to them and wanted to see more, if one side becomes a cliche villain or hero, it won't work. I'm sure people will tune in to see battle scenes but it has to be earned with fallout from each battle.

100% there is a couple of episodes of content during the first 10 year time skip alone. And easily another couple in the second. Without the time skips and over say 16 episodes rather than 10 they could have easily introduced Daeron and laid the groundwork for blood and cheese by spending more time with Helena. I mean i get why they did it, they didn't know how well the show would do so wanted to fit in as much as they could in 10 episodes, it's only after the show did really well we can look back retroactively when it comes to the pace and timeline issues.

Thanks as always! As stated in the video, Season 2 may not end at the Battle of the Gullet, nor the fall of King's Landing. The writers appear to be taking their time with the characters, given that in the teaser, we saw many things that were not in the books! Given that Season 2 will air in June, I'm excited!

For House Royce of Runestone. Lords of Runestone. “We Remember". 🟫⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️ It wasn’t a big deal for me also. But the casual it could lose them. So yea 14 episodes would been right. They could of even done 12 with a couple extended into the hour.
