@@Alexis-le1cdyes, like a choker necklace essentially. Considering Dany always wore her hair half-down, even IRL nobody would mind the clasp, as it would be hidden by the hair and not take away from the clean lines of the outfit

5 years later and I still maintain what I said after the sixth episode of season eight finished on premiere, beginning and ending a series with two false protagonists is, on paper (pun very much intended), genius. Unfortunately the TV show traded one meaning of the word execution for another. Fictional characters, unlike real people, do not have the luxury of reality and therefore most of what they do (if not everything) must make some tangible sense. When a character does a 180 in personality it has to be done gradually one way or another. Either you build up to the "you're dead to me" moment, or if they do it abruptly there has to be a winding down for them (and more importantly the audience) to digest it. People have and still say "there were signs", which yes, there were, but my experience has been these are usually people who didn't really like Daenerys to begin with, or were very meh about her. For folks like myself who liked Dany the build up that was there felt abrupt. The thing about characters people like is... they like them. They're going to give them more credit than they probably deserve. So if you're going to tear them down you have to do so methodically. Otherwise it's like someone smashing in your living room wall with a wrecking ball, they can say "well didn't you hear me coming outside" but that doesn't expunge the feeling that your afternoon tea has been well and properly fucked.

@@ImIndavyjoneslocker you're cherry picking doesn't change reality bruh, you'd have to be borderline brain dead to miss the signs since season 1, are you really that dense? She watched with sadistic satisfaction as her POS brother was killed in an insanely brutal way, even if he deserved it that changed her. She burned a woman alive, same circumstances. She massacred tens if not hundreds of thousands of people throughout several different cities, many of whom probably did not participate in any cruelty. Her goal wasn't just to take the cities, she committed genocide on the upper class of those cities. If you think all of that was completely justified you should see a shrink, because this goes passed your lack of intelligence.

I consider her burning King's Landing to be the only correct thing she did when she arrived in Westeros. the chance they had to surrender, Cersei cut off Missandei's head, there's no reason for her to believe that the bells were surrender, after all, why would she believe in Tyrion after he betrayed her again and released Jaime(with the purpose of saving Cersei, who would escape before she destroys the castle). Her people are the Unsullied and Dohrakis, Porto Real would only destroy her at the first opportunity. I don't know why everyone hurts about it, it's war, and like Aegon the conqueror, she took back what her family built. It looks like a bunch of kids who only watch Disney/Marvel trying to understand history and battles. wrong series.

It was foreshadowed, though... TBH, even though I always guessed that she'd lose the plot and go on the rampage, I feel that the writing was terrible and the ending rushed. That's what makes her ending seem unrealistic. I love House Targaryen - easily my favourite ASoIaF House - but Daenerys was never my favourite Targaryen. I could handle her madness if it was tragic madness like Aerys, but the saviour complex of hers has always irritated the hell out of me. That smug ''I'm the benevolent Queen who knows what's best for everyone'' attitude has been there since she first got a taste of power as Khaleesi. But, people cheered her on because she was burning slave masters to a crisp and crucifying them. Don't get me wrong; I'm in no way pro slavery - and this is a fantasy world we're talking about - but I've never understood her need to continue to conquer cities after she had freed the Unsullied and the slaves in Astapor. She had what she wanted; an army to invade Westeros and take back the throne. Instead, she decided to involve herself in something that was none of her business, and ended up stuck in Meereen for what seemed like a boring eternity. It's plain that she did it because she loved being a conqueror for the adulation which she received from the freed slaves, who worshipped her as though she were a living God, which caused her delusions of omnipotence to grow. Plus, burning places to the ground gave her a high. The only one who could get through to her was Jorah, and he kept the worst of her impulses in check. When she arrived in Westeros, she expected the same level of worship, instead she was met with suspicion and hostility, because the Westerosi weren't the slaves in Essos and weren't looking for Mysa to come and liberate them. To them, she was an invader with a foreign army, and their lack of reverence and fawning angered her. She took it as an insult that the people of King's Landing didn't overthrow Cersei and open the gates to her, chanting ''mother''. Bad as Cersei was, she was the devil they knew and Dany was just an unknown quanity with a friggin' dragon, in their eyes, so of course they would flock to what was familiar. Dany made no attempt to win their trust, instead she took her rage out on them, because in her madness, she believed that she could do no wrong; that she alone knew what was best for everyone. When people say to me; ''There was no sign; she went mad out of nowhere,'' I always tell them, of course there was, but the ending was rushed and poorly written. How many places in Essos did she burn to the ground and threaten to burn to the ground? How many people did she crucify? Does the fact that they committed evil acts mean that she should do worse to them? She watched as her own brother was murdered, FFS and didn't flinch. And referring to the dragons as her ''children'' and meaning it in earnest is another sign. She was not their ''mother''. The dragon that laid the eggs had that honour. I think Dany fans are blind to her faults because she's a pretty petite young woman who gives the impression of kindness. Viserys never killed anyone, crucified anyone, or burnt anyone, but people still villify him and call him ''mad'' and ''evil''. If it were Viserys with three dragons and the Unsullied, doing and saying the exact same things as Dany, talking about ''breaking the wheel'' and feeding the former slave master (who hadn't been found guilty of anything) to the dragons, having Mossador beheaded in front of all the former slaves who were begging for mercy, fans would long for his death. Ironically, Viserys, who was a fish out of water in Essos, would have fared much better in Westeros than she did, because he understood the Westerosi customs and traditions, and was proud of being Westerosi, whereas Dany; despite being born on Dragonstone, belonged in Essos, as she had grown up in that culture and knew nothing else.

Sorry but it’s an obvious retcon, viserys abused her and she was also powerless to stop her husband from killing him, mirri maz duur murdered her baby in an era where murderers are put to death, at qarth she was flexing in an effort to save her people, the slavers enslaved and crucified children, the khals sais they would gang rape her to death - well I guess she should have let herself get raped to death or be like sansa who said oh wow I’m so grateful I got brutally sexually assaulted and tortured it made me who I am today whippeee and a queen! Every victory dany wins was shown with uplifting empowering music and framing, like behold the awesome power of dany!! And now the accusation is that dany stans are bad people because we rooted for her the whole time we support evil and are blind and stupid and awful even tho the entire production was set up to MAKE us root for her???? And then other characters also did sick shizz like arya who murders an entire family for revenge including feeding children to their father in a pie but hey thats ok it was justified but if dany does something out of revenge she’s a mad woman? The whole story arc was ill considered badly written and choc with sexist stereotypes on too.

no one would long for Viserys' death if he did what Danaerys did, because what she did was right. "Breaking the wheel" and ending slavery is what needed to be done. Also calling your dragons, basically your pets, your children isn't really a sign of going mad. The writing of season 8 was terrible because her reasons for burning kingslanding didn't make sense. It wasn't her dragons dying, but one of her friends and that's just totally over the top for her especially since she always said how that's the one thing she is not going to be. You can critisize her, but she was never a killer of innocents

A near perfect anti-Dany agenda. Although like all the typical anti-Dany fans, you also gave it away in the end. Thing is,there wasn’t much of foreshadowing. Fans just want to nitpick scenes to make some sort of sense of season-8. Because otherwise it doesn’t make any sense. If you say what Dany did earlier was foreshadowing(her brother,Meeren),then basically every character showed sign of Madking/Queen at some point. Hell if you want an arc,Cersei had much better build up in that regards than Dany did. She losing her mind was just another reason why season-8 was bad, don't try to create something of it that has never been there before. An Arc needs seasons to establish. Not flinching at her brother's death, killing bad people ain't an arc.

Dany fans cherry picking all the times she aims to be merciful and just sort of leave out the multiple times she states her intent to burn cities down with zero ambiguity. If you watch the series knowing how it ends without willful blindness, the signs of what she’s going to do to King’s Landing jump out at you like a facehugger in heat.

@@Alex-qs7dnyeah..I think the main reason people were so willfully blind to Danny's worse traits qas because they could always justify it by stating the people Danny tormented were worse than her. Then by the time when Danny stopped fighting slavers and started fighting normal people using the same tactics she always had her fans had developed a sunk cost relationship to her. So they couldn't admit that she was always a basket case.

@@sudanemamimikiki1527Who are the normal people she killed in Westeros? Before the bells rang the only people she killed in s7-8 were the Lannister army who just slaughtered everyone in Highgarden and Varys who was trying to assassinate her to put Jon on the throne. Ned, Robb, & Jon are all considered good but they led armies into battle killing thousands of people. They threatened to and did execute people for a variety of reasons (leaving the Night's Watch, refusing to fight, killing hostages, disobeying an order).
