Season of Discovery - Lets Discuss EVERYTHING! 

So hyped for this! I know they arent committing to this having permanent servers, but there's no way they put this work in to just dismantle it after the season is over. Hopefully these SoD servers literally become the Classic plus servers.

I have watched many videos on SoD as i build my hype up, and this is THE video. Easily the best i have seen on the game.

something no one has really mentioned also is that with each new lvl bracket, new hype will be made for diff classes and people will potentially start a new char through the 1-25 also

The Call of Ktulu is my favorite Metallica instrumental so that's funny that yau ran around Ashenvale listening to that. I also think Starcraft's Terran 1 theme kinda sounds like it. I've been a warlock main for 4+ years of Classic, leveled a mage in SoM, hunter during the Era resurgence, and became an altoholic. I'm thinking of starting a warlock again for SoD. I also discovered the band Warlock while leveling my main in Winterspring during TBC.

41:00 no, the runes are learnt through discoveries, new wuests etc. And then you have them as your character. You just have to choose which to use at any gicen time and the choice is - on gloves you can only have 1 rune, so you must choose between them. Same for the other slots. Theyre not actually part of the gear

I think anyone who played the game back in 2004 and played a rogue like me has dreamed of rogue evasion tanks.....

We basically did get an experimental mixture of Classic+ and WoW2, it sounds amazing for the stuff we didn’t ask for - mage healers lock tanks, and class homogenization makes me nervous

a thing they could do - to have the level raids not be missed by people who start characters in phase 3 - is to scale the level up raids? I think the BFD world buff could go well on a 3-day lockout even for lvl 40 - 50 - 60. if by phase 3 we can solo BFD for the buff.... idk how to feel about that

I imagine warlocks tanking in tandem with their voidwalker, splitting aggro in big packs, taunting off the warlock when cc'd or in need to life tap, negating the need of an off-tank in those kinds of fights (Eranikus in ST is the first to come to mind). Basically a tank with 2 separate health bars.

I would guess 2nd raid is gnomer. We know they hinted on that and when/what lvl would make sense to introduce gnomer raid?

I think, they are releasing sod at end of month because this time next year classic plus will launch and will require the war within expansion purchased to play it.

this whole thing is great! SoM should be a super fun thing to tie over the gap in content from WotLK to Cata and such. I view this whole season as a great way to test crazy things out for a future full fledged Classic + in 1-2 years!

i also want them to randomly add stuff during new brackets, if they randomly started dropping new quests for leveling in further patches that would be cool

the only way i see hunter tank being doable is if you kept your pet in heel (right next to you) and blocked attacks for you... trying to control a pet to tank where you want it would be awful

Just hoping blizzard brings back the ashbringer questline in a way the classic community wanted. There are multiple directions blizz can take the season, and I'm hopeful this is the one the community asked for. Whether this season goes well or not, I'm expecting the next one to largely build upon what blizzard envisioned for the initial release back in 2004.

The timin makes sense in my mind. Even if 20% of the LK players saying they will wuit after LK falls for their guild were trye, that's still a huge exodus of players. If SoD has enough pull for them to remain, that release date is profitable.

i think that it would be a disservice to some of these locations to only limit them to 10 mans for the level-up raids. can you imagine how fucking epic it would be to need 20 people to take down Greymane and the Scarlet Crusade. obviously its still gonna be fun as 10 but some of these dungeons as 20 mans completely redesigned would be so cool

I'm hoping for. Zul farrak as level 40 with tansris being a world PvP hub. I reckon uldaman or sunken temple will be the level 50 raid. Then maybe they'll do mc, zg, bwl, aq, naxx, and after naxx a brand new scarlet citadel raid where you get to cleanse the ashbringer. That gives them a really decent chunk of time to develop a stunning scarlet crusade raid.

Timbermaw raid, hyjal raid, ogre raid. Tons of potential

ZF isn't a level 40 instance. I'd be surprised if they picked that to be a 40 cap raid. As much as I love ZF, I'd argue SM is a better level 40 raid.

The cloth tunic that drops from BFD has 130 armor. If you are a Walrock tank with 500% armor, thats 650 armor. T1 chest for Warriors has 749 armor. The drops from the raid are absolutely BiS for some specs.

I think SM is a perfect the way it is , but that we might get a *new dungeon Or a revamp like Mara or ZF .. and a new dungeon that fits lore in a zone like arathi ish ..

We are so coked up on the idea that they will not fuck this up at 60, that we are ignoring the immediate and overwhelming changes they are making to class design which should have remained unchanged, not retailyfied. Classic + was plus content, no private funserver anti-lore class revamp shenanigans for filler and to be able to announce something, anything, since they have nothing developed yet.

I'm with you, I love the idea of all of this except the runes. It feels like borrowed powers and I despised that lol. Hopefully be alrite and not too much of it. Classic + to me is adding more world content, story/lore stuff to do etc. Not so much changing classes and how they play etc.

This is nothing new for people who have played twink characters. Now everyone will get a sense of what the twink community has been doing for almost 20 years.

I hate it when a content creator says what classic players like is… but then they say something I don’t care about at all. I get that it’s your opinion but when you say classic players like a thing I think you are not speaking for everyone who plays classic. Some people value different things. I wish classic abilities and rotations were used with retail qol improvements and graphics. I’d love it if retail didn’t suffer from system bloat. So I play classic. I don’t need it to be slow paced. I do not need my gear to be “interesting” (whatever that means). I like different things about classic. I mean I love love love that I can play classic on my controller and it’s comfortable to put my buttons on my bars. I love love love life tap mana management for locks. I love love love soul shards and the tension they create for me. I just wish we didn’t project our opinions on other players as a way to seem knowledgeable and credible.

Sniper Training : I don't like that. +30%crit after you don't move for 6 seconds. It's like the Mage's Runes you put under you feet. ---> It's a gameplay that remove movement and freedom --> I don't really like putting abilities like that. Some like them, but if it's the meta and you HAVE to accept a gameplay where you don't move --> I find it sad for those who like more freedom of movement.

Classic+ implies that the game is somewhat "classic", ie 'old school'. If they add too much "modern" stuff to it, we risk the game no longer feeling classic. Imo, they need to identify what it is that makes Classic 'classic', and make sure that that doesn't get broken when they add new things. For example, one of the traits of Classic is Class Identiy or uniqueness. Mages were AoE specialists, but by giving Divine Storm etc. to other classes, that principle gets broken. "Bring the player, not the class" is a modern principle, not Classic. I worry that the devs have gone too far in the opposite direction, and that the resulting Classic+ servers we (might) end up with, deviate too much from Classic.

SoD seems like a "beta" for what could become Classic + they are seeing what players like and dont and will add/remove accordingly once an offical Classic + server is announced (hope they add high elves and goblins like turtle WoW has :D)

No new leveling zones or end game zones is a HUGE let down. Also no quests in raids make a terrible "level up" content.

A night elf hunter in shadowmeld casting aim shot,explosive shot and arcane shot with no time to react isnt broken at all in pvp with and with ret paladins going to be so broken im rolling alliance for the first time ever in classic wow....im not going to deal with it on horde. HUGE faction imbalance inc.
