I always wanted to try this dish! Idk why I forgot to search ur channel for this recipe. Thx for sharing and I will let u know how good it is after. It looks so amazing and delicious!!
Hello everybody! I knew this video might be a little controversial because the idea of eating raw beef will shock some of you. It's actually a remake of a video I did 5 years ago that I wanted to redo in HD quality, but a lot of you are seeing yukhoe for the first time. I understand why some of you feel uncomfortable about this dish and I'm sorry for any of you whose religion I may have offended with it. But this is my family's all-time favorite dish, and I wanted to share it with you. I just want to share all my delicious recipes with the world. If you're not into this video, more videos are coming that you may like! And we should all respect what others think and like, and try to keep an open mind about the foods they eat. I'd like to see my RU-vid community be awesome and supportive and understanding of each other, and helping each other. I'm so impressed with my readers who volunteer to translate captions, for no other reason than to help others in their country enjoy my videos. When we come together and support each other, everyone wins! Love, Maangchi
+Maangchi hello Maangchi... I'am a muslim and i'm oke with it but i dont think i'm gonna trying this recipe...hahaha i'm just love your cooking channel and i had tried some of your recipe and its all delicious... thanx Maangchi... love from Indonesia..
You don't need to apologize. Everyone comes from different cultures and background. If this offends anyone, they are always free to not watch or unsubscribe. Anyhow, thx for sharing j love this dish it's also one of my faves!!!
Everyone here would just freak out over eating beef and egg raw. Basically the same thing as the french beef tartare, except this one looks better. They don't realize the amount of effort we put into quality control, testing everything for disease, all that good stuff. I'd gladly eat anything in my grocery store raw, it's fine. The fancy restaurants that charge $30 USD for this same dish do the exact same thing.
In Poland we also eat raw beef, we mix it with raw egg, pickles and onions. But I want to try something new and this looks delicious. I hope it will be good with vodka. :)
This past summer I went to S.Korea and met up with some friends and they order this raw beef dish I was so scared to try but once I tried, I absolutely loved it!!! It was nice fresh cold and the Asian pear goes so well with it!!!!
Oddly, this looks very tasty to me today. I guess a lot of people cringe at the thought of raw meat and eggs. But then I think so many people like steaks rare and their eggs sunny side up so is almost the same, why not just save yourself the step of cooking, especially if you have fresh organic locally sourced meat and eggs? :) So I'd give this a go. :)
Maangchi, I just made Yukhoe for my family today and it turned out great. It's the most delicious beef tartare I've ever had! Thanks a lot for this recipe!
+Maangchi we need more of those because my mom what's to step up her game in cooking with korean food! :DDD Maybe one day I'll do your vietnamese captions! :D
I know what you are thinking as a foreigner. “What the- it’s raw meat!” But hear me out I promise it’s delicious and the types of raw beef used in this is regulated before it’s consumed so no one gets food poisoning.
To everyone turned off by the raw beef... don't judge until u try it. To me, a well done overcooked steak is much more disgusting. It's like chewing a piece of leather. A high quality beef tartare or cooked rare is much nicer. It is so much more flavorful and has a better, softer texture.
This is perfection! I love Yukhoe (I am Korean), it is my favorite food I would kill to eat this!!! Keep on cooking, even though I can't I love watching these videos
European love to eat raw meat too! I love beef tartare! The most important is the raw meat and egg should be very fresh and from your trusted butcher :))) Love Always, Eurasian in Estonia :))
i completely understand that people have preferences for food, but if you're disgusted at the idea of this dish simply because it's raw meat, you should try doing some research on the science
Indian Hindu culture doesn't allow eating beaf because we consider it as a holy animal and we worship it. But I appreciate your culture and diversity around the world 🙏thier own eating style and manners..and we don't have culture of eating raw meat in India so sadly we cannot try this with any other meat..🤗maangchi you are the best 👍 Thankyou for introducing Korean culture to us through your videos ❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this recipe! I made it today and it was absolutely delicious. I added a bit of hot pepper flakes to the sauce and it was perfect! 😁
Oh! That looks so delicious! (like everything you make!) I'm French and raw meat is part of our diet! (like many other "disgusting" food! lol) I wanna go in Korea just to taste every dishes! Looks like food Paradise! Your husband must be the happiest man on Earth! Bravo to you yummy Maangchi! (3
I've had beef sashimi before and it was so so good. It was of course safe and it was served with an oil that has a very light crisp slightly salty flavor but smells extremely floral. Threw me off at first but the taste was just not comparable. Definitely want to try 육희 now
I ate carpaccio last Saturday, which is basically also raw beef. Nothing wrong with it. If you're worried about it, then make it absolutely sure it is the freshest of fresh meat. How to make sure? Butcher! I got mine there. Might go there again to try Yukhoe :)
I love this dish! There are so many delicious dishes I miss from when I lived in Korea... Your videos help me a lot to replicate (not as perfectly as you, of course) the recipes I miss so much... 감사합니다!
That looks sooo delicious, I should check if any Korean restaurants in my city have it on the menu. I'm a huge fan of raw meat dishes, another one I would love to try is an Ethiopian dish called kitfo.
She is so talented. When she peels that pear. That shit is legit. Did this recipe with Venison a few times. It’s incredible. She’s not kidding about the Korean pear, don’t just use a Bartlett. It makes a difference
Raw beef is my death row meal. It's so good. Korean style or french tartare or done as sashimi. It's soooo damn good and it's perfectly normal. Don't be afraid. It's not going to hurt you.
Seasoned raw beef is so delicious and if I haven't eaten it for a while, I'll miss it. But I like to mix it with garlic and wasabi, haven't tried it with egg.
I tried some of your recipes and it was always really delicious :) Thank you Maangchi you are a very good cook and your constant good mood is so pleasant! By the way, is your cookbook available in France? I ask you because I just saw french subtitles in your video :)
+The tough guy from the North Thank you very much for your nice comment! My book is available worldwide. If it's not in your local bookstore, you can get it from amazon amzn.to/1KaBLpV
I live in Korea and I loveeee eating this. The only time I don't like it is when the beef is SO cold it's almost frozen :( it happens a lot at restaurants.
Your knives are always so sharp. I'm amazed how thin you were able to slice the beef. I'd love to see a video of how you keep your knives so sharp! :) I have sharpening stones but I'm obviously not very good at using them as my knives are never that sharp!
Haven't had raw beef before but it looks delicious! I was waiting for Maangchi to say "Sesame Oil" and then when she finally said it I got so happy. A Maangchi recipe is never complete without sesame oil =)
Maangchi! I would like to thank you SO MUCH for all of your recipes, explanations, and stories. After living in Korea for 1 year, I can't find any restaurant in America that tastes the same...and I always want to make my own now! I'm engaged to my Korean boyfriend and I'm so proud to be able to cook real Korean food for him, because you taught me! He and I ate 육회 together and now I can make it for him...thank you so much for everything you do! 정말 감사하구 응원하구 새러운 비디오 기대합니다! 늘 화이팅해요!!!
I love Yukhoe !! Oh my goodness, its the best! I always order it when I go to Korean restaurant with friends here in Melbourne, Australia. I'm so happy that you have shared this recipe! It is summer now, so it would be a great cold dish to serve to eat !! Cant wait to try this recipe, it looks very easy! Thanks soo much!!!
Well done Maangchi, thank you for the recipes! You are so willingly to share with us and thank you for your honesty, your food looks good and I shall buy ingredients tomorrow and make them on Wednesday
Although I would never eat raw beef (I don't even like undercooked beef) this was still an interesting recipe. Maybe I can incorporate the seasoning into a cooked recipe.
Thank you Miss Maangchi for showing us the Korean great food! And I love how you are so proud of Korean food! I made kimchie myself after watching your video and that was pretty good actually. Love from your Indonesian fan!
maangchi your recipe is simple, different and delicious and I like it so much I love to try your recipe and I am sure it's testy it'S good to try other culture dishes and of course one of my favorite is south korea ..thank u maangchi for sharing
I was going to make this today, but the beef I got wasn't as fresh as I thought , once I began cutting it. ended up using this sauce as marinade and stir fried it lightly, was so good
Maangchi become an Iron Chef u deserve it your dishes are simply and elegantly plated your kitchen is super clean and your food looks like i could have second or thirds! Lol
I am finally going to try to make this! My Korean classmates introduced me to Yukhoe when I was in university in Japan. I haven't had it since I moved back to the states. I've been dreaming about it for years! Can't wait to try your recipie!! ^^
Raw beef is excellent and delicious, as well as traditional to many cultures (French, German, Korean, Japanese, North African, Ethiopian, Thai, Lebanese...). If one is worried about bacteria in the beef, just get a really good fresh cut and then sear it on all sides for a few seconds each and then trim away the thin, seared surface area. The only part of the beef that might be contaminated by exterior toxins like microbes is the part exposed to air or water - so after searing and trimming, that possibly contaminated layer will be gone. Unfortunately, if the cow had a disease or parasites then the searing won't kill those hiding in the interior of the meat - but if you get a good cut from a good butcher you should be able to avoid the disease and parasites, because the cow won't have any; (especially if the cow has been raised in a progressive "small Herd" batch, by a "farm-to-table" local rancher -- often found easily at a farmer's market). NOTE: NEVER use ground beef either packaged or even freshly ground in front of you: - it simply has too much uncontrollable surface area that can mix-up the possibly contaminated surface area into the rest of the meat, making searing its surface meaningless. So play it smart, buy the best from the best for your safe-raw-eating, and Enjoy your steak tartar.
To those who cannot get Korean pear/Asian pear, you can substitute for normal pear or TURNIP... both are crunchy and its mild sweetness is best for beef..
Excellent video! I have absolutely no issues with eating raw meats: beef, chicken or pork! I have issues with how we Americans handle meats, so I've only eaten raw pork & chicken in Japan! Funny how I could almost "taste" the tar tar as you were putting it all together...cheers on the success of this dish!
+Luck different strokes for different folk's! Then why am I not loaded with GI problems...or dead? Like I said, I have no issues with eating raw things. I must have a much stronger internal constitution than the average "Joe"!
Same here. I enjoyed raw egg in Japan, but I am really hesitant to have it here in the states. We sadly seem to have a penchant for prioritizing cutting corners over upholding actual safety standards.
