SEAT Leon Cupra 300 - TEST/REVIEW

Fantastic review. Not boring like all the other reviews made on race tracks. Before this review (and 2-3 other reviews) i was close to order a BMW M140iX and also was intensively thinking about the new Golf R 7.5. Now I ordered a Cupra300 DSG in Mystery Blue! :-)

Crying about bad Seat interior means you never sat in any Seat over the last 5-7 years. Every generation they go through they take huge leaps & bounds in terms of the overall price to performance. I had the previous Ibiza and switched to a Leon FR a few months back, i'm hooked! Never once did it feel like a cheap ass car with bad build quality. Golf has been so dull in styling for a few generations too...

I have just ordered my cupra 300 today pick it up next week can wait so excited but I chose the 7 speed DSG, great review keep up the good work

Excellent review, and confirms my decision to buy a used one just three months old with a virtual cockpit face lift and navigation with a sun roof and dark blue and various other extras all for £26K GBP very pleased..

Fab review and a great car. I live in Birmingham UK and too many Audi's, Golf's and Focus St and Rs nice to have something different like a Seat or Honda civic type r.

An excellent comprehensive review...well done.. /..at 24.35... yeahhhh ! .../... I have the 300 with D.S.G.. ../...Has a good level of equipment and rocket like performance... but it really needs an exterior to make the Cupra' stand out more from other Leons in the range.

Very good review, i'm waiting for my red desiree ST, I equipped it with DSG backets and roof- for the navigation system I choosed the full link system and will use my phone as if was the navigation (in the dash and all other features) as I understood. defintely can't wait for it!

Sorry to say but I think there are hardly any hot hatches with included navi. The Golf 7 R doesn't even have the full link as standard. Plus that paying for navi is just stupid in 2017. You have Google Maps which beats any navigation system.

Great in-depth review, I'm super close to just going out and buying one of these so thanks for doing the vid! TBH the m140i is probably my favourite hot hatch because of that 3L engine but here in Mexico at least it's another 50% more expensive than the cupra. The cupra is a real sleeper hot hatch and for me the fwd drive isn't a big disadvantage - I want the power when I'm overtaking or hammering a back road but squeeling off at the lights is just stupid. Also, the interior plastics may not be up to Golf, Audi or BMW standards but I like the overall sporty design and screen placement in the dash. My biggest concern is having door panel and dash rattles - can anyone confirm whether they've sorted these issues since the 280/290 models?

In the uk if has navigation and you can use the maps from your ios or Android devicd

You can connect the iPhone with the car and than change the audio mode in the iPhone to bluetooth audio and hear the navigation instructions via the radio. It stops the music if the next instruction comes from the navigation. Just a cold comfort but better than nothing.

Nice review, a bit long but ok. Well, I must say, i would go and look for a cupra. But the 308 Gti impresses me to. It's just a 1.6 with 270 bhp. So less taxes in Belgium. But I am not sure if the 308 can have the same quality as a leon Cupra. And they both offer nice space. Eather way, I am checking a lot of cars because in the end of this year we will need to decide wich one to buy. So pretty handy this car review ;o)

The reason why that trunk is so damn deep/huge is the lack of the All wheel drive system.

This is a car for young folks, those who know onboard navigation are outdated the day the car is revealed... having carplay/AndroidAuto is a much better deal.

And if you invest roughly 2-3k eur you will have stage 2 this car and then you are faster then, PORSCHE 4S, CLA 45AMG, TESLA, 380hp STI IMPREZZA etc..... rolling start :) Definitely best money/performance purchase.

why would you need a sat nav in your car when you can have WAZE connected on the media screen of the car via android auto...

Can anyone tell me if the cupra 300 has a proper distance between the brake and gas pedal to do daily heel-toes?

Chris, schwanke gerade zwischen SEAT CUPRA 300 und dem BMW M140i. Mit Rabatt und allem was geht komme ich auf 32k für den Cupra. Den BMW M 140i bekommt man in einer guten Ausstattung für 41-42k natürlich auch mit Rabbat ca. 22%. Ist es 9 -10k Euro mehr Wert?

I have configured a Audi S3 Sportback with most of the available options and get 59.000€ And the differenz after discount is about 20.000€, compared to the cupra with 44k

Was Preise angeht bekommt man auf den Leon ca. 28 % Rabbat auf den 140i 22 %. In meiner Konfiguration mit den Rabbaten kostet der Leon 32k der 140i ca. 39k. Der Leon sollte besser auf dem track sein dem 140i fehlt einfach ein Sperrdifferential. kostet leider ca. 2600 Euro extra. Der Leon hat mit DSG auch einen Stau Assistenten bei 140i gibt es leider nicht mal für extra Geld. Es wäre interessant einen längsdynamikvergleich vs 135i /140i zu sehen. Ich glaub ab 100 km/h sollte da keinen grossen Unterschied geben. Noch mal Danke fürs Video!

I am considering buying Cupra and I never thought of buying navigation actually. I though full link is able to connect to your Google Maps or Waze. Why would one use offline navigation without traffic these days is what I would not understand. Is this a case? Can Full link connect to Google Maps and/or Waze?

Have the started using mono screens between the dials now? They used to be full colour on the high-end Leon's?

well i own a 290 tuned 352hp and is so much fun and oh so fast but perfer my version no fog lights . Much better than those 2 golfs they are boring .

Why not a single reviewer mentions reliability issues? DSG vs manual: how long your DSG will last in a heavy city traffic? Never mind replacing it will cost you an arm and a leg.

I went to the SEAT dealer and they told me the 3-door and 5-door do come with 4WD.

I must disagree with you on the exhaust intakes. The shabby and cheap looking ones are the ones that are part of the body frame since 90% of them are fake exhausts with just a pipe coming from under the car at the end of it. EW.

saying this competes with a golf. this is a golf. uses pretty much everything from the golf with a tune and a new body. VW owns SEAT

I likes Seat, but this car don't look like as sporty car!

My biggest mistake was selling the golf 6 R. For me 6k is easily worth for the golf R 1. Plastic quality in the cupra is not good as the golf R. It can easily scratch especially in the back of the seats you will notice this without an effort. 2. Cupra is no fun. In the first gears it spins so crazy that you can not make it go. Even in the perfect tarmac it will spin and spin. Launch control will make it worse. In my book there is no point in buying a car more than 200 bhp fwd. 3. It won't make you feel as confident as a R when you are cornering at high speeds. LSD will help but not be the same. 4. At 1000 kilometers the door trim noises will begin and you will have to fix it. 5. Cupra has not got the looks and it is indistinguishable for an fr in many ways and this is another let down. 6. Instead of buying this I'd take the type-r if I really wanted the fwd experience or else save them money for a golf 7 R.

where are the sides skirts?the car is not very low . The design isnt agressiv at all, and why dont put perforated disc for better looking. Better take a golf R or S3 and pay bigger price for a good car not spanish one.
