Seattle Night Drive To Amazon Campus + Downtown From Wallingford ( & University of Washingtnon) 🚙🌙

After dinner and in the Wallingford neighborhood of north Seattle (on the opposite side (west) of the freeway - I-5) my wife and I go for a drive to Amazon campus in South Lake Union. This is a narrated drive or "ride along" and I point out business and destinations along the way.
I talk about hamburgers a lot in this vlog and share with you which ones are my favorite.

A little bit about me...
My name is Dennis aka Lao Ocean (also aka Dr. Wtpho, but more about that later) and I'm a Lao American RU-vidr based in Seattle, WA. Seattle has been my home since 1980. I live across the Amazon headquarters and I used to drive through the same route frequently before I became homebounded since the 1st US covid case broke out on 1/21/20. Now my only view to outside world in the last 2 years is the Amazon headquarters lookout from my home. I really miss the beautiful Seattle night view from the bridge and from my boat while cruising on South Lake Union at night. Thank you so much for driving me through my neighborhood on your video and show me all these beautiful buildings including the exteriors of my own complexes 😆 🤣

@@LaoOcean , I also like to hangout at the Motif hotel terrace bar at night 🌉 I really missed the old west lake mall food court on the top floor looking out the Monorail and downtown Seattle. I used to really appreciate the unique beautiful old architecture of the Pacific Place mall. Now they all look very generic just like any other malls🥶

First time seeing one of your night videos and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't do much night driving anymore, age is catching up with me, so this was a fun little drive. I never saw where Amazon was in this video, I thought it was located up somewhere on 8th avenue, am I wrong?

When I got off the Freeway and took at left, that entire area is Amazon.

@@LaoOcean Thanks Dennis, I will re-watch. I went to a focus group once at Amazon for some medical product they wanted input on. They must have had 40 workers interviewing us all at once. Very intimidating for someone that is not used to big crowds.

This was an amazing drive. Need more of these in the future, Dennis! Passing by that 5th Ave. Theatre was very nostalgic for me. First theatre I stumbled upon while sightseeing when I visited Seattle a while back. Glad to see it’s still there 👀🍿

Thanks for the vid. This brings back a lot of memories. Glad to see Wallingford still looks pretty much the same, even if a lot of the buildings have changed businesses, at least they are still there. South Lake Union used to be a bunch of nondescript one story warehouses. They sorta fixed the Mercer Mess about 10 years ago, but it still took a half hour to get from the freeway to lower Queen Anne (about 12 blocks) even then. Red Mill is the best burger place in town, you can smell the bacon for a mile!

Some lovely night views of Seattle, and nice to see some familiar places again. Miss the dear old Pink Elephant, such an icon gone there. Please do a video inside Dick's Dinner one day. The decor is so good and you get a great vibe from it. Like going back in the 50s. Another great video Dennis.😄✌

Really grateful for this. So much is the same, so much is different. You got off I-5 at Mercer and I thought, "OK, next we'll see Lincoln Towing and the "Toe Truck!" WRONG. TOTALLY WRONG.

I like the night drives and glad you at least narrate or type where certain things are. Speaking of hamburgers, we tried "In and Out" burger last summer in CA and I was NOT impressed at all! Never had a Red Mill burger or a Shake Shack, but my fav is Five Guys. Might not be out in the west yet. Beautiful lit up tree just before you turned to go to Westlake! The street by Westlake was beautiful also, with all the lit up trees. Thanks for the tour, very informative!

I don’t think it was ever officially the South Lake Union Trolley, but folks realized the fun acronym if they changed it to trolley, so it stuck. Now that there are other street car lines, they may have just changed it to the general Seattle Streetcar. Glad to hear you are a fan of Dick’s burgers-Locally I also love Burbs & Great State.

I lived in Wallingford in the late 70s so interesting to see what has and hasn't changed on 45th. The WALLINGFORD QFC was the FOOD GIANT and it looks like Goldie's is a Chase Bank. Glad to see Taco Time is still there (I remember 3 tacos for $1 was a Sunday special) and the iconic Dick's both go-to places on my UW student budget. I agree In-N-Out has the best burgers but Dick's has better fries. Sad to see the Guild 45th movie theatre is being torn down (at least the façade and marquee is gone). The Guild was the top art house theatre in Seattle if not the west coast back in the day and I went there many times for great midnight movies.

I was watching your video and was wondering what exit you were gonna take from I-5 south. You said you were gonna take the Mercer st. exit. for the past four years I've been recording cars taking the Union st. exit, still at freeway speed when the sign specifically says to slow down to 20 mph but apparently, people think it's still okay to take the exit at 50, 60, 70 mph's: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DeFY9u69tkE.html
