On the first leg of his vintage rock tour Seb Bouin meets up with legendary climbers, Ben Moon and Antoine Le Menestrel to climb at the legendary crag that is Buoux. Home to some of France's hardest climbs in the 80's and 90's, Buoux is a finger pocket dreamland in the south of France, attracting the best climbers from around the world to come and try its particular style.
Seb Bouin embarks on the Vintage Rock Tour, exploring the history of climbing in France through the crags that set the precedent for modern day climbers. Joined by a host of legendary names eb is on a mission to repeat as many of the hardest routes in Frances' climbing history.

While Seb's style, skill and strength is amazing to watch, I also really appreciate that it's not just about 'the send' for him, but the artistic side of what he does matters too. It was great to see that shared ethic between generations as well. Thanks

I feel like the French turned climbing into an athletic endeavor when Americans were still treating it as an extension of alpinism. Opening up the "rules" if climbing to other techniques help climbing become what it is today.

Super idée Merci Seb. J'ai grandi en admirant les exploits de ces grimpeurs qu'on apprenait en lisant le magasine Vertical. Quelle Falaise Buoux! et tellement importante dans le développement de l'escalade en France. François legrand y avait élu domicile -au sens propre- pendant deux ans je crois . Pour les prochains épisodes ? le Verdon bien sur. Le saussois sera trop patiné je pense. Mais la sainte-victoire ou le Cimaï seraient intéressant aussi. Dans tous les cas , il faut rendre hommage à Patrick Edlinger, omniprésent pendant ces années, et qui laissa un trace dans toute ces falaises. Vivement la suite !

Excellent video. However when the white subtitle text goes against a white background, which happens quite often in the video, my knackered old eyes cant read it. Great video though, I hope more to come.

Do we put French subtitles as a default at the bottom of English speaking climbing films? The white might be a subtle dig from these free climbing pioneers.

Agreed - thank goodness there are subtitles in English but it would be nice if they were easier to read.

Tu ne crois pas si bien dire, on prépare quelques surprises entre chaque épisode...pour vous faire patienter, rassasier les sceptiques ou pour ceux qui veulent les méthodes dans les voies old-shool ! Mais on ne pouvait pas mettre autant d'enchainements en intégralité.

I know for a fact that the first 8c route in the world was called Agincourt (with a G not Z) and was named such because Ben Moon was British and he put up the hardest climb at a famous French crag. For those who dont know....Agincourt was a famous battle during the wars with france, that the British won emphatically. This is an important part of the history of this route, this crag and the history of sport climbing. I assume the name was changed to Azincourt to protect the sensitive nature of the French climbing public. All i can say is ‘oh la la’

Bonjour Olivier, la musique n'est pas créditée car elle provient d'une plateforme dédiée aux vidéastes, avec des morceaux pour lesquels on paye les droits de diffusion. Donc, à moins de payer un abonnement sur cette plateforme, il est impossible pour le public de retrouver ces morceaux pour les écouter gratuitement.

Azincourt en français, Agincourt en anglais. Ben Moon étant le premier à l'avoir libéré, il lui a donné le nom anglais. Ce qui est assez drôle en soi puisque c'est une grosse victoire anglaise sur les français. Lui et les grimpeurs français de l'époque se sont battus pour savoir qui allait être le premier à enchaîner la voie. Un beau clin d'oeil à l'histoire.
