Aviation activity in Podbeskidzie (South part of Poland), leads, every now and then, to extraordinary achievements. For many years, the best sailplanes in the world were manufactured there and Franciszek Kępka won his most important prizes, today, it is an absolute aviation diamond -- Sebastian Kawa, sailplane pilot of the Bielsko-Biała Flying Club. No one, in the history of gliding, has ever won so many titles at the same time. These successes gave him the first place in the world ranking of FAI pilots.
At the beginning he was a sailor. Many-time champion of Poland and winner of youth athletic meetings. Moreover, he participated in the world championships and twice in the European championships in the Cadet class. Member of the Bielsko-Biała Flying Club.
From 2003 to 2010, he won all the most important sailplane events he participated in. Within that time, he won the title of the world champion for seven times and twice the title of the European champion. Current leader of the world ranking of pilots. Record holder. He won most of these events flying Polish sailplanes.
