Thank you for the very thorough and detailed review. I just purchased this vacuum from a local Vac Shop. I actually went out with the intent to buy the Sebo Felix but I was able to purchase the X7 as a display model at $799.00. It was literally brand new and never been used. The electrical cord was actually still in the original packaging. I also received the rotating upholstery tool and 10 extra bags. No doubt still very pricey but overall a pretty good deal when you consider the Felix would have been only $100.00 less. If you are considering purchasing this vacuum I highly recommend you check with a local vacuum shop and see if they are willing to work with you. Might be well worth a visit.

I'm a professional cleaner. I've been running my X7 for two solid years. The circuit board recently died and is being fixed as we speak. I suspect it died because of the auto adjust constantly adjusting. With my X7 being repaired I decided to buy a Mechanical 300 so I can keep working. Frankly, I like the Mechanical 300 better. I like the manual adjust much better. Place it on setting 3 and so far it's worked well on all food types. Plus, the Mechanical 300 is half the cost of the X7 without all the fancy bells and whistles and yet cleans just as well.

A Sebo dealer on RU-vid (handsome younger fella) told me that the X7 Premium adjusts better to American carpet. It lowers a little more, and it also doesn’t constantly hunt for the right height like the X4 Boost does. This was achieved with making the height sensor less sensitive. I haven’t use an X7, but my X4 boost only cleans my carpet with boost mode enabled. If it isn’t turned on, it doesn’t lower down enough to keep contacted with the carpet surface, and definitely doesn’t “dig.” However, with Boost mode enabled, it feels like it cleans very well. I can feel it grab the carpet, and slightly lift the pile like my Kirby does. That I love. It’s a very charming machine to use with boost mode enabled. Also, I didn’t realize they were phasing the X4 models out. Sebo corporate replaced my circuit boards, height sensor, both belts, and the gearing that controls the height adjustment. They had to do this because it was grinding and wouldn’t engage, and they said it could be because I use boost mode for more than a few minutes at a time. Hence why I am considering an X7 Premium.

I wish if had the following features: - swivel steering - brush roll on/off - Hepa13-rated exhaust filter - 110” water-lift - 80 cfm + - adjustable suction - manual carpet height adjustment - a hose outlet at the bottom of the unit so when using the tools, it doesn’t pull it over. Otherwise I love it.

I agree with every point you made, these are solid machines, however the brush roller shut off feature is a must if your spending upwards of $1000 on a vacuum cleaner. the Kirby doesn't have a so called (brush shut off) but it kind of dose with the belt lifter or the canister conversion. but this is the main area I have been looking at is commercial quality machines that are stream lined have had the same basic design for 30+ years and parts are common, cheap and easy to repair the machine such as sebo, Oreck, sanitaire and kirby. now Bissell and hoover are kind of that way in the more budget line on some of their machines, the powerforce, the wind tunnel bagged and so on. great fair and well balanced review. your reviews never disappoint 😄

I can't believe you didn't acknowledge your cat. 😂 thanks for the review and your opinions. You can't add a brush roll shut off to this vacuum because it only has one motor. With the current design, there's no way to disengage the brush roller while the suction motor runs. What makes the pet version different than the automatic X7 premium? Also, for removing lint and hair from your vacuum brushes, get a paintbrush comb

I think that it is frankly absurd that at $1100 you are paying for a single motored vacuum cleaner. Obviously it's a good machine, and will do circles around the Bissell power force, in spite of that, no machine above $200 and 2023 should not have an automatic brush roll shut off switch.

its a shame it doesn't have a brush roll on/off switch, still i would like to own one! I tried one out at my local vacuum dealer and it was a charm to use.

I own Sebo Felix and it seems the motor is as powerful as in X7. Is it valid to say I would not get any better suction with X7 compared to Felix?

I also looked into it and the PCB firmware dictated how the motor is limited. In the UK/EU we lose 410w due to regulation law. Sebo claim the seals are better compared to the 1300w machine you have but i believe that. I believe the only difference is compliance to laws :( Oh and we pay, £400 /$500 We have lost 31.5% of power, but its still cheaper than the £1000 version you have. I would personally pick a 1300w machine.

In the UK we get the same machine and it's only 890w. The motor is limited but capable.

Great review. Question: Since the brush roll is supposedly super easy to remove, is it possible to simply remove the brush roll to use the vacuum on bare floors? Or is there some type of detection that the cleaner won't run without the brush roll in place? Just curious as that feature seems to be a sticking point for many people. Thanks.

The vacuum will only run with a brushroll installed, but sebo does make a softer brushroll for soft carpets and barefloors, it has green bristles instead of blue or white

Would you recommend a sebo versus a Kirby and I also would like to know there's a have a brush roll shut off and how expensive the bags are

Yes. I never recommend kirby vacuums

Kirby vacuums clean wall-to-wall carpet very deeply, better than 99% of vacs - but they are not practical for using on anything else. I keep one for deep cleaning the carpet every month or so, and before having them extracted with hot water.

2023 1100 dollar vacuum yet no brush roll shutoff? Shame. I Like it but seems overpriced for what you get too.

Exactly! I agree with you 100 percent! You could buy a bissell powerforce helix turbo to get the same thing but with a manual height adjustment for better accuracy, bagless, and all you sacrifice is the filtration and a little power! All of this for around $70! It even comes with the turbo brush, which the sebo DOESN’T HAVE. Come on, sebo, are you really going to let a 70 dollar vacuum outcompete your 1000+ dollar one?

I hate everything about these vacuums. The brush roll tries to destroy your floors when you're using it in the upright position. The hose is short and doesn't stay locked into the wand which makes it really irritating to use and it also feels very cheap. It's basically impossible to use the hose for anything up high without tipping the vacuum over, Even with the hose extension, it's a miserable experience. The thing extends and then slams together when you apply suction causing all sorts of handling problems and marring delicate surfaces. The inside of the bag compartment's always filthy because he bags don't seal well at all. The attachments are cheap, feeling and don't last long, especially the crevice tool which wears faster than any I've ever seen before. The brush roll is constantly wrapped up in hair and requires near constant maintenance. Because you can't turn the brush roll off, it'll try to walk away from you on some floors and then when it gets the end of the hose it just falls over. The automatic versions of these vacuums adjusts super slowly. Has a good warranty though. If anyone is near central PA and wants a nearly new POS with a great warranty let me know. 😂 or if you have a Miele U1 in good condition I'm willing to pay a premium for one 🧐
