Secluded: Homestead Life In A Mountain Wilderness (EP6)

Cabin River Outdoors

I arrive back to my remote property in late spring to find that the river is already much lower than expected and that I am unable to reach my property by river. The type of boat I have is not suited for shallow, fast flowing rivers. Fortunately I have a road easement access via land.
The downside, is that I will have to clear about 5 kilometers of deadfall and heavy growth through a very grown in road. This will be my pathway and only land access. Persaverance and grit pays off.
A friend lends me his jet drive boat midway through summer which is a huge help! Now with access to the secluded property by both water and by land, I can finally get to work with building up a place to live on a more full time basis.
Glad you can join me for this rugged journey.
Shawn

Yes everyone either romanticize homesteading so they can get clicks and sponsors or they are some prepper spreading fear.

Grand job... nobody will ever fully appreciate the effort, but, when it's done, the rewards go way beyond the grunt. It'll be done when it's done. The presentation is the closest possible to reality... and that's rare.

I really enjoyed your video. What a struggle for you. Slow and steady gets the work done. So glad your friend came to help you. Two summers are on the books so now you know some of the things to expect and can prepare for the unknown in the future. I hope in the winter you will be able to work on your trail to the cabin. It will be a lot easier to see what you need to do for the road and just maybe you can get your car to the cabin sight. That will help with bringing in supplies and lumber. You have a beautiful cabin sight and a beautiful area to live in.

Thanks for another great video. I was so anxious when you release it. Looking at that pathway it will really take huge amount of time to make it decent, but you did great so far. Obviously its hard work with little visible progress and one can get easily demotivated, but you are obviously determined and you rock! I know that working alone is the magic itself, but just to be there help you would be awesome. Stay safe mate, all good and cheers from Europe.

Dig these videos. Ever dip a gold pan in to those gravel bars? Really curious what river that is. Thought it was the Fraser, but don’t think it got that low that early. I just got a tiny off grid cabin right next to the fraser south of PG. Might start documenting my own journey, tons of work to do to it yet.
