Solo hike to explore the Druids caves hidden in the Peak District.
Three centuries ago, a local parson called Thomas Erye crafted, carved, and created caves, rooms, thrones, and stairways and decorated them all with cup, ring, and serpent markings. Eyre was not only a man of the cloth who used to sit on one of his many seats and write sermons for the villagers. He also had a dark secret. Thomas Eyre was a Druid. He would meet regularly at The Druids Inn with the rest of the Ancient Order of Druids members. He would also invite this fellowship to his caves and rooms on the hilltop to entertain and perform rituals.
A free site hidden in the ancient woodland on a hilltop above a sleepy Derbyshire village, definitely worth a visit.
