The size of that bunker unbelievable and the echoes stayed some time in their just shows you the vast area you can picture in your head the layout out of the luftwaffe airfield and the crew 😮

Great work finding those "Tobruks". Heaven knows someone has certainly made an effort to cover the past well. Those brick built bunkers on that airfield are fascinating. Certainly not what we're used to seeing. And certainly not built to withstand a direct hit. That big shelter though, was just amazing. I can imagine it wouldn't have been so "Echo-ey" when it was filled with furniture, people, and gear, but the height and the design would still have made for a noisy work place. Looking forward to what else you guys found in that fascinating place. Cheers!

Loved the echo in that place, and the amount of doorways too. Very strange construction, but judging by the size of the beams supporting the roof, a vast amount of soil would have covered it along with grass etc. Great explore, looking forward to part two. Thanks again for sharing with us.

It is surprising sometime to see a barracks building still standing and in use by someone. Maybe the previous land owner was able to take ownership of the building after the troops withdrew? The Germans chose a very flat area for their airfield. EE is such an encyclopedia of history; does he read up on every location you are going to survey? He always seems to be so knowledgeable, just like Dad! So a train carried ammunition from storage to the airfield? That underground bunker was HUGE! Those artifacts are awesome, especially the badge and the belt buckle! Thanks for taking us along! Stay safe and stay well!

Great location. The large bunkers echo would not have been as bad during the occupation. Chairs, tables, maps on the wall, and possibly bunks would have deadened the sound. Shame filling in all the MG sites, also tells me the farmers have had issues with people. Another great video HH with EE leading the party. Nice job EE. Stay safe out there.

It’s just amazing to me that you can go to an area and not really see anything but as you walk around you start to find the hidden features. How wonderful to see the barrack still there and in wonderful condition. Seeing the huge bunker was interesting to see. I don’t think I’ve seen one like that before. Wonder what it was used for? You and Eagle Eyes impress me with the way you can find features that are buried in the landscape. I can definitely say this road trip isn’t a failure. We’re being shown some fantastic places and things. Happy to see you getting around better.

I have been in a small brick safe of an old company town here in the states; its amazing how small a space will create an echo.

Can you imagine being in that bunker during an air attack? You would be deaf for days! That bunker was pretty cool, and it appears that others have been in there and made that path - BUT, I don't see the graffiti crap that so many bunkers have. I was stationed at what once was a German airfield. The airfield proper was built of cobblestones set in concrete - but with gaps between the cobbles. They planted grass in the gaps and it made the actual field almost invisible from the air. (There are houses on a good portion of it now, and I feel bad for the construction guys who had to dig through all that lol.) The Germans went so far as to cover the hangers with grass and graze sheep on top. Lots of large trees, and a dip in the terrain made the whole place hard to see. They even built a fake airfield about 4 Km away with wooden planes and such - the allies blew up those wooden planes a number of times, but never did find the actual airfield from the air. It's now the HQ for Adidas and only the barracks buildings are still there to see as far as I know.

It is wonderful see that barrack in such excellent condition. HH and EE you did an amazing job finding all those sights in what looked like just a field and forest!! The huge bunker was such a great suprise. Thank you for taking us back in time with you ❤.

Hard to believe the Luftwaffe had established 100's of airstrips all over Europe. Thanks for the images/pics depicting that era/time in history. Helps put things in prespective for us. Always enjoy the little clips of EE marching off into another adventure. The shelter for the Luftwaffe soldiers was quite ingenius connected to the red barracks/living quarters. I would think they would have been well protected from any incoming bombs. Yes, nature certainly reclaims back. Good catch EE recognizing the railroad tracks. It's also a good thing you brought your flashlight EE. I don't blame you for asking him why he forgot his. Silly Dad. A shame the bunker was flooded, but you still took us in to show us. Such an amazing position! That bunker was huge! Seldom do you explore one with such an echo. I wonder why they built such a large bunker. Too bad the machine gun defense positions were overgrown and that one with the concrete slab on it. It hurts my feelings when people deface our history. Thank you HH and EE for taking me along. WOW what I would give to see a WW2 Lufwaffe base! I am an RAF Vet. 14:52 that looks like a large Ops centre from the layout. On the old RAF bases our bunkers werent that different very similar in fact to these layouts. The bomb dump would have been right away from the maintenance area for safety.

Can not believe how "deep" or big that bunker was!!! When you rounded the corner and showed the interior, I was like, "Holy Crap"!! Huge. I can't see it being used for just a protection bunker; had to be used for something else with that many rooms, holy crap!!! Loved that a barracks was still there today. Absolutely wonderful for it to be put to use. Very nice. Can't wait to see part 2; as always, looking forward to see what else lies out there. Hi HH & EE, It's nice to make these trips with your biggest fan. The historical photos are a good indication of the current location. It is a beautiful winter environment with the colored sky. Too bad the bunkers are filled with water. But another interesting episode.

Fantastic that one of the original barracks was still there! Would have been great if you could've gotten inside to see it. The railroad tracks really got my interest. Logistics of getting supplies to sites by train is another interest of mine. Like to imagine what it would have looked like at various military sites/bases with trains bringing in supplies. Those bunkers were neatand that one was huge with the echoing in it. Will be looking forward to part 2!

A great location that you have shared and thumbs up for the bunker. I'm sure there's going to be a lot to like about little history. Do you also use the metal detector? Flooded bunkers, understand that EE doesn't have good shoes for it. Maybe, what we have here in the Netherlands is a waat suit, waterproof pants with boots on. No echo when full of materials that absorb the sound waves. It likely was a rest area for the air crews. Furniture, hangings on the wall like curtains, storage boxes etc would have kept sound from reflecting.

That big bunker may have been part of the later war air defence network, rather than just purely local airfield control. Germany and occupied areas were dotted with AD installations, and are a story in themselves.
