One of my professors at Mississippi State back in the mid-80s loved to talk about his college days in the 1950s at MSU. My favorite was his story about hitch-hiking home to Meridian, Miss., when a big Cadillac pulled off the highway in front of him. He ran up to the car as the driver lowered the power window. He said it was Fats Domino, and he said, "Would you like a ride?" He then told us about the next two hours and how much fun he had ... and how surprised is family was to see him pull into their driveway in a shiny Cadillac (yup, Fats took him all the way to his house).
I have been a huge Fats Domino fan for years, and just wanted to say thank you for an incredible video. It was a lovely tribute to such an amazing artist.
Fats Domino was the greatest ever, his music will live on forever, what a gentle ❤ kind ❤ man, gone but NEVER forgotten RIP FATS What a beautiful place for all these fabulous musicians
Thanks Fat Domino for bringing music to everyone regardless of race . That's what I loved about him ❤️ music is to be shared and enjoyed if you want to dance 💃 dance 🕺 if you want to sing 🎶 sing 🎶 just let the rhythm flow through your soul and boogie. He will always be a legend to me . Thankyou so much Jordan . RIP Fat Domino. ⚘️
I met Fats in a bar he use to come in sometimes I worked there. He would come in never sat with his back to door. We had a special table for him. He ordered Dom Perrignion . He requested that I personally poured his wine when he needed a refill. He was very nice, great tipper like $40 or $50. He once told me I was beautiful, he said you look like a pretty brown Indian, I should take a picture of you a put it on a Billboard in California. I blushed, he was so kind, soft spoken. His bodyguard never sat down he stood right behind his chair the entire time. He made his fortune with all the same original songs. In Europe he was a bigger star. He told me that. People hadn’t heard all his song. It was like releasing an old song as if it was new stuff
Fats Domino is a true loving soul. My whole family from my mother t all my brothers & sister grew up listening to Fats. I still listen to Fats songs. Hi Jordan, well, it sounds lovely and peaceful where Fats lived. Oh, I loved that Pirate house, what a great splash of color and what fun. Yes, Fats Domino, what an incredible artist, so many great memorable songs, Great vlog Jordan.
Such quaint and colorful buildings, the pirate house was so New Orleans.Loved seeing Fats homes. My mom had a Fats LP of his greatest hits, it's still at my dads' in their vinyl collection. So cool you got Fats' autograph. I remember Richie and Blueberry Hill from Happy Days 😊 Fats is playing the ivories in Rock and Roll Heaven. Thanks Jordan and Jah❤️🌄🐶🌌🙏
The big pink trim home of Fats he decorated during Christmas opened front doors and played the piano for people driving by to view his Christmas lights. Meeting him personally was priceless even if it was only for a half hour. RIP
I enjoyed this video fats Domino is one of my favorites singles my first memory of singles as a child was Elvis Presley and fats Domino my daddy had a 8-track in the car and he had all of his records a fantastic entertainer I still listen to him today all my best Ramon from Athens Georgia
This was a lovely tribute to Fats Domino. Your tireless research not only found his final resting place, but enabled us to see a a really beautiful cemetery. Many Thanks
I visited NOLA back in December 2010. My Dad was there working so he flew me out for the weekend. Anyway, we ran into some locals down on Frenchman St. and they drove us up to Tipitina’s. As you walk in, there’s a bronze bust of Professor Longhair you’re supposed to rub for good luck. When I rubbed the statue’s head, water dropped on my hand! I looked up and around…no water coming from anywhere. Even the local guy we were with saw this happen and thought it was strange!! I looked up Prof. Longhair and it was his birthday on that exact day! Awesome venue and awesome video! The Katrina Museum where Fat’s piano resides is a must see🥰🙏🏻✨
I recently saw an interview with Fats where he said he loved Popeye's fried chicken so much that the company gave him a card that he could use for free Popeye's anytime he wanted! He said he used it at least once a week! Funny, and very cool of Popeye's!
That moselium was beautiful. Next time I'm there I will definitely try to go there. His house was so simple at least on the outside. Thx Jordan for video.
Wonderful blog. I appreciate all u have done with yr search in find all about Fats and doing this blog for al of Us. I truly appreciated It.!!! I always have gotten Fats and BB King mixed up for some unknown reason. They don’t even look alike!!!!! Beautiful Mausoleum.

Such a nice tribute to Fats Domino! When I was growing up I had my Mother's 45's of his music that she had growing up, I wish I knew what happened to them! Thank you, Jordan, for the respectful vlog! Rest in Peace, Mr Domino.🌹 🌼
You and Jah took me to another loving, kind trip to visit a man who exudes love and happiness. I can’t get enough ! I thank you for the wonderful times I have with you and Jah.
Nice to see his final resting place. My grandmother wad a huge fan of his. I always think of her when I hear his music. Domino loved to perform and loved New Orleans.
I was introduced to his music via Happy Days. What a legend. Like yourself, Happy Days was my go to series as a freshman. Should definitely give it a rewatch!
I remember Fats Domino playing many times at a dance hall outside of Opelousas, La. In the 60’s and 70’s maybe longer, called the Southern Club. He could rock that juke joint to it’s foundation.
Great video!🎵 My dad tells the story of he and my mom going to see him play. He said Fats would put on a great show and go on around 7 or 8 and play on until well after midnight. My dad went on to say my mom would be leaning on Fats piano 🎹 and just dancing away. We turned and looked and my mom’s face had turned red. It was so funny. We all had a good laugh.😂
So glad I came upon this video. I always liked his music and have recently been playing 'My Girl Josephine' and 'Shame on You' which I really like. Fats is truly one of a kind. Thanks for the video. Marge, Ohio
Love the video you did such an amazing job on Fats Domino and I love they way they marked each with an musical instrument this was something different and thank you for sharing, Oh and i can't forget the handsome pup we seen in the beginning of this video Jah great seeing him.
HEY, JORDAN & JAH What's up... And The Man him self FATS DOMINO one of the Greatest ROCK "N" ROLLER In the world Ok Thanks for doing this video and just keeping his memory In our minds and our Heart's
Jordan, you have such a wonderful collection of vlogs. This one on Fats Domino adds to it greatly. Thanks for tracing down where Antoine Domino, Jr. is buried. We danced to BLUEBERRY HILL, MY BLUE HEAVEN and AIN'T THAT A SHAME at our 8th grade sock hops in the school basketball gym. How wonderful he signed the BLUEBERRY HILL 45 for you! I've been watching some of your old episodes today and just finished "The Secret PAST of Bob Barker & Delores Del Rio's HOLLYWOOD Homes." Honestly, I lived in Los Angeles for 45 years and never heard of the city area called The Outpost where Barker and Del Rio lived. "You learn something new every day" certainly fits. I hope everyone goes back and views your earlier postings. They are so worth it!
I have watched quite a few who do resting place searches for famous people. You are by far the best. You tell history and give a very thorough guided tour filming long enough for viewers to see everything in a professional style of filming. Very good job and I subscribed to you. Fats Domino was my husband's favorite in his youth. BLUEBERRY HILL! HE IS 82 NOW BUT WILL HAVE HIM WATCH THIS. THANK YOU! 🎶💫🎶
Thank you.. I used tonwatch others occasionally that went to graves, but it became real obvious to me it was all about making money off of a video for them. I only vlog graves of people that have an inspiring story, or someone that I have a connection to in some way, so I try to give an interesting memorial, instead if just stammering about nonsense while visiting every grave I can. Thats just offensive to me.. I actually refuse to watch anymore grave videos these days because it's become such a tainted thing..
@@DazewithJordantheLion thank you so much Jordan for the come back. It is devastating to watch them walk all over the cemetery waving camera here and there....talking aimlessly about whatever. Then when they get to the grave they show it from side angle or don't let you see it but split second. You can't read what it says or debri is on it which they don't brush away so you can read it. I have watchedv2 of yours. Very professional and informative. I scanned all your videos and tapped so many to " watch later"... ..that file is FULL! IM A SHUT IN DISABLED, 79 yrs old, SO WILL WATCH THEM ALL AS THEY ARE MOSTLY IN MY ERA. As a young lady in 50's 60's I worked at movie theater . Saw every one that came out many times so I feel attachment to most of the actors/ actresses. 🎬🎥🎞 BLESSINGS TO YOU. 🙏🕊✝️
Thanks again for another great vlog, you always get the greatest subjects to record , i really enjoyed the vlog on Jerry Lee Lewis house also, I went there one week end but it was closed, and i never got to go back before she passed away. but thanks for covering that house for me, see you tomorrow
I really like you content and I've learned some new facts here. My in-laws are also buried at Mt.Olivet Mausoleum. My husband was the service technician for the Domino's two homes in the 9th Ward. He never met Fats but his wife was a real nice woman. His son lived on the same street with us in Marrero, LA. Mahalia Jackson is buried in Providence Memorial Park if you're interested.
His original house usta be a 2 family complex called a Shot-Gun house. If you was to stand in the front door you'd be able to see clean through the house. It's to have better air flow in these hot humid summers here. ... but on another note, I am extremely happy that you didn't get shot in the 9th ward. Nor even kidding that's a horrible section of our city.
I have loved Fats Domino since I was in my late teens and I am 71 now. My favorite Fats Domino album is called Fats Is Back which was released during the Rock and Roll revival in the 60s. The recording is great and the songs are just terrific. There are two Beatle covers but most of songs are great R & B. Thanks for the video. ~ Dave
I met Fats Domino when I was 13. In Yuma Arizona at a women's club when Yuma got scammed when this man posing as a manager for chubby checker. Took the money and ran..Fats came to the rescue😁a very sweet man. And posed with me for 2 photos I lost one😭life was way more casual back then I was allowed to get on stage in the background and dance to the music and enjoy myself😄I sure did too‼️One of a kind Bless him❤I had a premonition he may pass away..and tried to write him a letter..not sure if it got there on time..I only pray it did‼️❤🎶🎹
Another great vlog as always Jordan. I love Fats Domino's. Blueberry Hill, Walking to New Orleans, Ain't that a Shame, I'm Walking, are some of my favorites. I hope to visit his grave someday myself. I wanted to ask if you ever plan on doing a vlog on Johnny Horton? He's buried in Haughton, Louisiana. I thought I would ask in case you might still be in Louisiana. I started listening to his music after hearing that he and Johnny Cash were very good friends. Take care buddy and safe travels.
Daze , Thank you for sharing the last part of Fats Domino's life , l grew up listening to fats music in the early 50's , and his music was one of my favorite, during the oldies but goodies days which is known as doo wop now , so interesting thanks again .
Fats domino house was destroyed by Katrina big time, he lost all his old school epic stuff.. I saw a video where he was inside of that same house with rain boots after Katrina hit.. he said he would never leave Louisiana I’m sure his spirit haunts that house for sure
I'm originally from New Orleans, so always good to see images of my hometown. Another prominent New Orleans musician who's interred at Mt. Olivet is legendary singer, songwriter and producer Allen Toussaint.
