I think he said he was steeping away from production with scg to work on more of the tournament stuff with more venues opening up. I think it was a work load thing for him but he left a detailed explanation on his Twitter a bit ago.

Yeah, lots of negative comments this time, but I agree it was a great game all around. I think some people are in the habit of taking out their disapproval of Wizard's Secret Lairs and Universe Beyond on the people who choose to play those cards, which isn't fair. They're going to have to get over it eventually though since I don't see Wizards stopping in the near future.

When I heard Jeremy was going for the DnD theme I thought he'd be using the dragon showcase frame treatments from the B&G Lair before I remembered that they haven't shipped out yet. I liked how on-theme a lot of John's deck was while still being pretty powerful.

I hope they do the add a color theme again sometime soon. Just add a single color to your commander colors for the sake of deck building. Very fun way to build 1 and 2 color commanders with an extra color that would really help them.

I haven't finished watching yet, but to be fair, I have the same deck, and world tree ability just ends the game. The majority of gods will enter as creatures, which triggers Purphoros, God of the Forge a huge number of times, outright killing players a lot of the time.

Altar of the Pantheon gains life if you control one of the things listed, not if you cast them. It’s a v small error, but if that small amount of life keeps Stephen alive in the end, that’ll be problematic. (Edit for spelling)

That doesn't make much sense. I was actually concerned the opposite way. With just 1 Theros god out Altar would basically give life each tap. Each time Stephen hypothetically cast a non-god with Altar (or didn't cast anything) he would "lose" a life. Good to know it was just 1 in the end.

Fun game, though also a cautionary tale of what an unchecked Rhystic Study + Jodah can do. I agree with Tomer over at MtGGoldfish that "since they've already drawn 7, just let them keep drawing" is poor logic as it just lets the Rhystic deck fully snowball. Taxes are important.

I haven't watched commander vs as consistently since Justin left, but it feels like Cory always comes with much more competitive decks than what the show, and the rest of the crew, tend to bring. Could be wrong, just a feeling

That's true, but bad running and not winning doesn't directly show the power level of the deck. A weaker deck can still win if it is piloted better. Overall I think Corey's decks come in at a stronger base level, having some busted dragons doesn't make Jerem's deck a stronger power level when you look at the rest of the cards being played alongside it. every deck needs some good card but those good cards don't speak for the whole deck

I think a lot of that can be attributed to Corey not being as proficient in the game. He admits to having less experience, sometimes not even knowing what cards do. Whether that's him playing dumb for the show or actually not knowing how cards work, his lower experience level could attribute to the lower win rate even though he comes in with stronger decks

I would imagine since this is the secret lair episode, it's probably the Phyrexian alternate text version. Unless Corey is fluent in Phyrexian, I can see why he would need some help with it

The more I watch games with Corey, the more I'm sure I'd never enjoy a game with Corey. He seems like a super nice guy, but the power level difference is something you'd have to be aware of at this point.

Corey plays decks that stop other people from playing magic. How totally frustrating. If he continues I'm probably going to stop watching; been watching for years and will miss the guys but it isn't fun to watch like this.
