Hey Liz, suggestion for he washed sweater…leave the hem. Take the extra from your striped sweater, and knit a ruffle and attach it to the bottom! It would look fun!
This is a great idea…you could even just pick up the stitches from the hem, knit down and add a second hem…it would give a neat two tiered look and use all your yarn.

Your tee turned out so pretty and fits you perfect. Love the colors. I don't knit or crochet, but I enjoy watching you do both. I work with a lady that crochets a lot. I just do cross stitch. I think your Garden Sampler is so beautiful and colorful. I can't wait until you get it done. I want to see it. Have a great week and see you soon.
I love it when Steph n Jason do a video together!! It would be fun if you could get Rob to do it too!! 😆 Happy house hunting ....make your list of your desires and put it out there to the universe and it's so cool how just what you want, comes along!! The selling n packing part ...not so fun!
💃 62 yo and yep, I binged it too! I love your sweater, great job!! I’m going to teach myself to knit this year. I hope you have watched the Grocery Girls. They are great.
WELCOME BACK , GLAD YOU HAD AN AWESOME time on the 😎 FAMILY VACATION….LOVE ❤ LOVE your purple new sweater…. I always wanted😢 to knit 🧶 a sweater with that wispy look 👀 and feel…. Cant wait for this to finish 💝 I also LOVE 💗 THAT YOU LOVE COLOR
Fun, fun update! That’s a shame about your Cumulus tee - just love that pink so much - I’m sure you’ll figure it out. I’m also doing a yarn advent so I’m interested in projects you come up with for that. Looking forward to your upcoming tutorials, especially a bag make. Thanks for all the fun updates!
Lovely sweater sounds like something I would do with the washing test. I would just wear this as an over sweater and put a long sleeve T under it. Good luck deciding.
Glad you enjoyed your trip. Your sweaters are gorgeous! I also love your garden stitch. Can’t wait to hear your plans. Are you moving to the same area? Is your sister going to follow you? Just wondering out loud…no need to respond if it’s too personal. I’m glad you’re back. You’re so enthusiastic and I love how you incorporate laughter into your show.
Ooh , more tutorials😊! Re the purple sweater, could you do a couple of stitches of surface crochet that mimics the knit stitch to make the line appear to be continuing? Might distract from the place where it went wrong? I love the colour work sweater too!
I would start at the bottom as is and add on some length. This would create some interesting detail at the bottom of your sweater. Two icord finishes would create a layered look.
Love your striped sweater! I have to mention two things, I hope you rip back those five rounds of knitting where you increased in the wrong spot. I never set in a life line when frogging. I just rip out the needles and frog, then I put the stitches back on. It isn’t a problem if you miss one. Just fix it in the next round. You will be so much more satisfied if you mend the mistake. And the short sweater you showed, just pick out the end you weaved in. Don’t cut anything, just rip back. Then you have all your yarn left, and this will probably be enough. I never do surgery on my knitting. I undo my weaving in of ends, and frog. Good luck! Love watching you on RU-vid!
You’ve been so busy with all your beautiful crafts. About the too cropped sweater; I’d re-block. If still too short I’d wear with high-waisted, pleated, silky pants. Over a jumper would work too. Keep us informed on the outcome.
Lovely to see you 🤩 Your projects are awesome 👍 For the purple sweater, could you just drop the stitches that you increased in the wrong place. Then pull the excess yarn in that area to where you need it. And then just add the increases there with some additional needles each row and pull them up in the same way when you accidentally dropped a regular stitch? (I'm not an experienced knitter, I have no idea if that is even possible, just an idea) Also maybe depends on what kind of increase you used.
I would leave it even I am like you - I hate leaving mistakes. However, unpicking fuzzy yarn is such a pain that I avoid it at almost all costs. Good luck, It looks great!
I knitted the sweater you had on, unfortunately it came out really big. My first saddle and drop shoulder. I knitted size three and had to frog the whole sweater. I was one sleeve from finishing the entire sweater! Yes, the sleeve was really long. If I re-knit this again, I will need to knit it a lot smaller. Thanks for sharing!
I love the sweaters!!! I had to buy the lakes tee pattern. I’m working on the Anker sweater from Petite knits. Regarding the cropped sweater graphing isn’t that hard I have done that on sleeves- much like steeking the first cut is the scary part. Much luck on the house search That is truly scary 😱 but exciting 🎉
I am loving your Caitlin Hunter sweater! I'm so glad that you kept the green part of the yarn. Your Lakes Tee turned out great! I completely binged Secret Lives of Sister Wives. They sure are an interesting group pf women. I don't love their hair and don't understand the straight ends. It looks unfinished to me.
OMGosh, I so enjoy your videos…the sweaters are beautiful….i had to laugh about you binge watching the tv show. For some ungodly reason I started watching Gypsy Weddings….it was crazy I didn’t like it, but I had to keep watching. No know why…..LOL
Loving all your projects! Granny the copycat (me!) ordered some sakura and i’m on the notify me list for strawbaby from spincycle. Sincere Sheep told me it’s a good time to order sakura bc she just had another order for sakura. I told her it was probably another person who watches your flosstube. She also said she remembers you from Flock. keep knitting and totally ignore those misplaced increases. Nobody cares!
oh thats awesome! I really loved her yarn and will definitely be ordering more. The cormo feels sooo nice! And I really love a sport weight yarn! I just need more sport weight sweater patterns!
On the sweater that you feel is to short….could you just wear a camisole under it? That way you wouldn’t have to worry about your belly showing if you lift your arms 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️. Just a thought. Seems like a lot of work to add more length. Good luck.
Liz, you can just ladder down and fix the mistake with a crochet hook. I’m all for leaving mistakes if it is too much work, but this would not be too bad to fix. You should be able to find a video to help (and a useful skill to learn!)
What would you think about leaving the i-cord hem? Pick up sts and make more rows that have diagonal vertical texture, until run out of yarn? Making a diagonal band below the i-cord. Just a thought. Unravel the icord? Lovely knitting works.
There is calendar fall and also seasonal fall! If it’s still hot outside, you can make your timeline on the garden sampler! It still feels like summer in Kansas! 🩷
Your lakes stripe tee is amazing!! I love how the alpine bloom yoke is looking too, the green adds so much to it in my opinion. I actually laughed out loud at your 20 yo Mormon mom of four hair joke 💀💀💀 too funny. The hairstyle does look cute tho 😅
I know how you feel about frogging but I would have to. I don’t have a solution but I couldn’t leave it. Sorry.😞 Being particular like you are with your crafts I’m not sure you will be happy. It is such a pretty color and looks so soft. The colorwork sweater is so pretty and looking good.
Take the bottom off, knit more length with a contrast yarn and do a contrast yarn around the sleeve. Or do a contrast yarn between the two edges of the cotton wool yarn.
You could “ladder down” just the area with the affected stitches. If you haven’t ever done that it’s intimidating but in stockinette I promise it’s not that bad. Since you would need to add the increases in the correct spot and take them out of the wrong spot the number of stitches wouldn’t be increasing or decreasing overall so the tension won’t be badly affected, the right amount of yarn is already there in each row, if that makes sense.
Another comment about fixing the sleeve: you could use lightbulb stitch markers around each stitch before the mistake if you want to ensure it doesn’t drop too far down
Love your videos! I’m not a knitter so I can’t advise how to lengthen your sweater but have you considered the shrinkage issue with the rows you add? I would be afraid the new rows would not shrink the same as the original sweater, and might sort of ruffle out. Maybe prewash the yarn?
My suggestion for fixing sleeve: drop about 15 stitches off your needles around the mistake and where you need the increases to be. I’m sure your stitches are “sticky” enough not to run quickly. Pull the yarn out of the stitches carefully until before the mistake. Then you will have five horizontal double strands of yarn. Then use a separate circular needle to put the stitches back. Knit the rounds back up. You will just need to make sure you have the correct horizontal pair of strands for each round you have to fix. Hope this helps.
yes ok this is what I was kind of envisioning in my head but I was just so worried about the two strands of it all that I chickened out of actually trying it 😂
You don't really need to rip back. If you just drop the incorrect increases and move them to where they should be. It will be a wee bit tricky but you can do it. You can also just rip those few stitches and redo them with the increase in the right place. Cumulus may be able to be lengthened by wetting it and stretching it lengthwise. I was my sweaters in the machine all the time on gentle but don't usually put them in the dryer. Even if it says super wash or machine washable. If you want to knit for more length just rip back the rib and knit the leftover yarn and then add rib or maybe even do an Icord cast off
I would have to fix the mistake or it would keep haunting me throughout the project. It's actually going to be really easy. I would drop all 5 of those stitches and ladder down 5 rows, and put them on a needle. Then just work right to left, knitting each row with the correct ladder, and making your increase in the correct spot on the right hand side. After working each "row", I slip the stitches back to the left hand needle to prepare for the next row, and stretch them while passing them across to even out the slack. The ladders become really long at first, so be careful to knit them in the correct order, but it's a very easy fix especially for continental knitting. Take note of your final stitch count so you can map out which ladders will be increase rounds or plain knit rounds, to get you back to where you are.
oooh ok, I'm copying and pasting this for future sweater fixes... I thought I would let this sweater rest after filming but instead I've knit like 12 more inches on it... so i've gone too far to go back and try this now 😂
lol rip. Knitting row by row is what makes it easy I think, rather than working vertically with a crochet hook. I used this for dropping down in cables and it worked great.
Even though I hate leaving mistakes in, I would leave the error in and know you won’t notice it once it’s finished. The fussy yarn will be too much of a nightmare to unpick.
Yeah I think the fuzziness will help mask my mistake! I plowed on ahead with knitting on it so I've passed the point of being able to fix the mistake at this point 😂
Take the stress out and order more yarn to add three inches. Even if the dye lot is different it would not be noticeable below your waistline due to shadowing that naturally occurs. Good luck. Otherwise I would wear a long tank shirt under for a layered look.
Yeah I think this is the answer! I'm going to cut off my hem and start knitting more length and if I run out of my leftovers I'll order an extra ball to get the length I want!
