Using a bow on a glockenspiel can produce such ethereal piping sounds? I never would have guessed - always imagined a glass harp as the core instrument in those parts... It is marvelous how you manage to keep both loneliness and beauty of this track alive at the same time, while keeping so close to the original.
Probably the most underrated game music channel on RU-vid. The effort and polish and faithfulness to the original while elevating it is simply unparalleled. Thank you.
Feel like you could do no wrong. So much time and effort guaranteed to be invested into making each song into a masterpiece. Keeps me clicking the new ones right away. The string on the bars to make that etheral flute sound was genius.
You deserve 10 000 times more views, this is a masterpiece. The Secret of Mana remake should have had your music in. Also should have been made good (the game).
He is not playing the instruments they are dubs lol.. do you think this clown is fluent in this many instruments?? HE IS NOT PLAYING THEM. I have played violin for 11 years, his movements are just mimics he isn't actually PLAYING anything. Similar to someone lip-syncing a song.
The instruments and setups you come up with never cease to amaze. This song never ceases to amaze when done well, like it is here. It's so very icy and appropriate for where it's used in the game...I may not revere Kikuta as high as Uematsu or Shimomura, but dang he sure made a couple amazing mana soundtracks.
i was looking for the name of that instrument in english. in spanish it's called "lira". never seen it played with a bow either....the sound is rather interesting.
The terminology for glockenspiel is correct. We usually call the larger "xylophones" the glockenspiels. The glockenspiels are the ones we "roll" in. Using a violin bow usually creates a reverberation effect. It's actually used in a lot of Kikuta's work.
Glad to see you keep giving love to one of the most underrated soundtracks of all time. I just don't see many people covering the whole soundtrack like you do.
We're approaching 3 decades, and you are absolutely right to be doing covers from these games. I know we're getting further away from when they were popular, but they were so good. In a parallel universe, me and you are friends. It blows my mind 🤯. But we didn't have internet back then... you were wherever you were on this rock... we just never crossed paths. For years I've had a 3 way tie between secret of mana, chrono trigger and ff6 as best RPGs (yeah we're getting old). I've had the feeling to take apart some of the music and play it myself, but I only do piano... and i definitely wouldn't have dissected them like you do. The music just takes you back to times you were more carefree. I've been subscribed long enough to think a game's worth trying if you and your allies do a cover of some of its music (cause I see music on your channel from games I missed in snes' initial run). Now we have emulators. I try to go back and revisit some of these games, but the older I get, the more things I want to learn... and then we're all getting closer to the grave. I get bummed out thinking there's not enough time to do everything we want. I'm not quite drafting a bucket list yet... but just have to appreciate every day you get and all the days you have left in the game.
My God it's so perfect.. Usually reorchestrations are not as good as original because it's almost impossible to reproduce the feeling of those old 16bit sounds. You guys do it like it's a natural thing. It's... Incredible.
Keep it up man, I've seen you quintuple your sub count since I joined. You provide a great service by doing these remasters, thank you for all your work. I hope you will continue to keep faith in yourself, even during the lowest of times.
Please do Shadow's theme from Final Fantasy 6, or Cyan's theme! Both are my favorites from the series, and there are so many great musical elements from the SNES games!
Amazing Cover from one of the greatest snes games. It was always one of my favourite games and this song had one of the coolest basslines in a game ever. Mindblowing to watch this video now. Thank you so much !
Congratulations. Your playing the xylophone (is it called a xylophone?) with a bow gave me a head ache and made my wife almost lose her center of gravity on top. Im not complaining, just wanting to point out that the sound created is VERY sharp to sensible ears. Songs great tho.
Woooow that into! Nice choice holy shi... I've loved the soundtrack since owning the game in 7th grade, this is up there on fav tracks... Id have never thought to use any bowed metals like that. Bravo.
Amazing playing! I don't know who mixes the sound, but it is 10/10 on my listen to my 2k hifi rig! Really impressed by the bass lines. I think the only thing that can benefit the sound... is using a fretless electric bass (only a nuanced advantage, most likely) - I promise to contribute to your patreon so you can add fretless bass to your arsenal. Highest regards and much love, truly!!
