Nice. Those lights come in handy for a lot of weird stuff. I use 365nm to spot uranium glass. Thats a rabbit hole…. My retic looks pretty cool under UV. You can tell a lot of these reptiles respond to the light differently than visible light. The same is true with IR. I am convinced my dogs can see the infrared lidar on my cell phone camera. I can actually see it with my eyes if the lidar is refracted through certain angles of cut glass, like a prism. Under night vision goggles, it’s like a blinding rapid strobe. My hypothesis is that’s why dogs always turn away from cell phone cameras as if they’re “camera shy”. Animals are cool.

I have been wondering what reptiles see! The dominant male agama, in my backyard, climbs up the sabal palm (30’+) and can spot the females, which blend perfectly with the grass, dirt and bark, and also the other males who are hanging around the perimeter! It seems this is how he determines it’s time for his perimeter security patrol! They are fascinating!

Cool video! Gives me an idea. I'm thinking there's gotta be a way to sex snakes with light!! Like GTP's that are notoriously delicate & hard to sex. Not necessarily black light, but if ya get a bright enough light I bet you can shine em kinda like shining eggs.

UVA vision is not the same thing as biofluorescence. Someone skipped some biology classes.

The spots on humans under UV light are made from sun damage. Quite horrifying.

Very cool to learn about the reptile eyes and what they are able to see and what they look like that we don't normally see...I know a few years ago they found similar things with salt water fish AND sharks!that some of the 'plain' looking fish & smaller reef sharks when exposed to UV /blacklight actually have patterns! And then there was a study that started to look at all types of animals to see if they had hidden patterns that were only UV visible and they actually found tons! Including, interestingly.... Humans?!?! YES! Under the correct spectrum of UV light humans have patterns in their skin! And they are all unique!!! They are kinda subtle but they are there and they are so cool. AND there are images of people's patterns and more info that you can look up! It's fascinating! But man did we get cheated on eye sight and hearing...we miss so much beauty in our world and some days it feels like all we do is make weapons with the brains we do have, le sigh. But thanks for reminding me how much beauty there is in the world that surrounds us,that is so important! ❤

This is so cool. I love how they used ultraviolet light to teach people how certain reptiles can see ultraviolet light and some reptiles have special patterns that can only be seen under ultraviolet light. I’ve always wanted to go to a reptile expo, but sadly where I live there are not many who share in my passion for caring for reptiles, but I love how they are teaching people about the reptiles behaviors, morphs, habitat and how they see and what they see, I love watching your videos Mr. Kaufman, and I hope you have a wonderful day today!!
