Here is an awesome video that was created by @SouthCoastDronesUK and it shows the Haslar Sea Wall in perfectly high definition. This location is great for fishing due to it's free car parking and ease of access to location. The venue could be quite hazardous though due to lack of a hand or guard rail along it's length. A weary angler could slip down the steep wall and cause an injury so caution is advised near the edge. There are steps that lead down to the waters edge at lengthy intervals but the steps are slippery. They are covered in algae below the water line and so trainers are a no no unless you want to risk a slip whilst retrieving any potential fish. Thick rubber soled boots or wellies seem to give good grip while traversing the cobbles. It's hard to get a shelter up if it's windy due to the concrete flooring however northerlies allow for it as the detention centre wall behind shields you. Southerly, Westerly and easterly winds blow across and onto the venue. It's best to take a look at the venue at low tide so as to see the snags. There's a huge row of massive boulders along part of the wall between the Haslar Hospital and the detention centre. I can't begin to tell you how many rigs are lost there by newbies who arrive at mid tide. It can be tricky to cast if you're fishing the detention centre due to the wall behind you. A twelve foot rod would be best at this end over a longer one. Casts can be made with the longer rod but it can be tricky until you get the hang of it. If you're fishing the hospital end then it's no issue as there's plenty of room behind you. That's my take on the Haslar Wall. Good luck and enjoy the venue!
