I would love to take a look at Grimora's tomb in the end of the game without all those pesky shadows. Maybe there is more details then we ever get to see?
In the Act 1 Finale sequence (right before the final boss), if you look around the scene you can actually find a Ruby Golem laying next to a tree. Pretty cool foreshadowing.
6:54 Another way to tell is if you play on a language such as Spanish, which has separate male and female adjectives and nouns, and you trigger some dialogue that refers to you, such as trying to draw more than 1 card per turn, Leshy will say "No seas avariciosa" (which translates to "Don't be greedy(female)") on some runs, but he will say "No seas avaricioso" (translation: "Don't be greedy(male") on other runs.
I am playing a russian version, and it actually does so for almost everything gender neutral? As in like, in Act 2 I've seen Mage Pupil be adressed as a female. I also kinda theorize that the game is just constantly adressess you as a female, but it may be just me not being used to That Kind Of Thing, and noticing it more. Masculine version of words like Challenger are usually the norm in russian language.
@@dammitmypancakes9214 I've checked and it usually uses male version, but some runs has female. In stuff like "продолжил/продолжила" after beating bosses.(rus version)
My personal theory is that Grimora is the pile of meat Leshy presents to the player upon winning, like he grinded up her corpse and is now trying to feed it to the player. Which is why she appears in the safe on top of the meat.
Wow, I'd only ever looked at the top of the candlestick. I never realized how detailed it was on the bottom, that's so cool! I wish you could see it better in normal gameplay
2:50 This shows up at random in the safe during the main campaign, and ‘glitches’ out of existence when you get closer! Iirc it only shows up in the later runs (after the first 2-3,) but take that with a grain of salt because I’m only using my own experiences as reference haha
I don't believe that glitch is intentional, it shows up properly in the safe when you use a different code by normal found as a new result for Kayce's mod when changing the clock to 11:00, when clicked on it's added to the gramaphone and adds tracks from The Hex to it.
The CD should only be showing up in the Kaycee's mod The meat however does show up in the main game before act 2, if you open the safe on your very first run there'll just be a pile of meat sitting there
It's not the vinyl, sadly. That's something else entirely. Without giving away too many spoilers, it's a 'character' you are forced to fight against later on (A3). I would actually like to see it spawned in though, as I can't tell in the dark how much of the model is loaded in. The vinyl is exclusive to Kaycee's Mod, for the gramophone. Of course, if it is appearing, that's probably a glitch.
One thing that I'd like to see is what the hell is touching the safe before the first death, when the meat plate is in there. It looks like a hand reaches out of the shadowed corner and touches the top dial to me. Might be another skeleton hand, like with Leshy's third candle, but I'm curious.
I've seen people claim it's one of grimora's hands somehow since the stinkbug's in the safe and all, but seeing if there's any hidden model shenanigans might be interesting
Yeah, P03's model is very different in leshy's cabin than P03's factory in act 3. His head specifically is very different, but his body and arm also look shorter.
Stinkbug and Stoat are characters which is why they are basically in a T-pose outside of the cabin. When they are needed they go inside and when they are off camera they go back outside.
The meat plate in the safe actually shows up in game if you open up the safe before looking at the rulebook and seeing the code. It’s a fun little Easter egg
2:40 *Spoilers for an easter egg in Kaycee’s Mod* That’s a vinyl record disk, and if you collect it a record player will appear on the other shelf, replacing the position where the squirrel statue normally is. The player will have two disks, one being the disk you just collected from the safe, and the other being a disk bearing the promotional art depicting Leshy. The new disk, the one with the hexagon on it, will be on the side while the other disk will be in the player. *FURTHER SPOILERS AHEAD* The Inscryption disk will be playing the Deathcard Cabin theme, but interacting with the player will change the song, cycling through various tracks from the game’s OST, all acts included. If you click on the disk itself it will be swapped out for the hexagonally-decorated disk, and IT’S music will begin to play instead. Interacting with the player at this point will do the same aa before, but with an entirely new OST. I’m not 100% certain, but i believe the music is from Mullins’ other game, The Hex. I haven’t played it so i can’t be sure. Now to FIND this easter egg, you have to change the clock on the wall to 11:00, as if you were trying to get the ring. Instead, a small piece of paper will pop out with “116” on it. Using this code for the safe will reveal the vinyl record.
The secret vinyl record is actually a reference to the Hex, one of Daniel Mullin's past games, as denoted by the hexagon on it. It plays various tracks from the Hex that you can listen to.
So the kacey mod thing is music from I'm assuming hex, another game by author, you get the combo by doing what is in the base game the ring puzzle, it works with the gramophone which is where the slime man is by default in the mod instead of the slime man.
Great video! Would be interesting to see that Ruby Golem mentioned in one of the comments, 'cause that's the first time I've ever heard about it. I also never understood what was that looming thing that appears right before you are presented with an opportunity to get boons (kinda looks like an arch). P03's factory can be cool as well since it's so dark in there.
that is the cave prop, same as the ones you see at the challenges with the eyes looking through the cave opening. that one looks much larger because you're in the map (also why Leshy looks massive and a giant hand brings you the table)... he uses the cave because you're getting into a challenge again. only for boons instead of powerful cards.
So about that ascension secret. I think I know what its about. Major spoilers for the hex down below. So in the hex at the end of the game you find out the story has been working towards setting up a ritual. This takes place when 6 sentient NPCs takes there places around a hexagon and the player confirms the action. it allows the digital NPC to cross over and effect the real world. I cant imagine that something called ascension and having a hexagon on it could have any other meaning. Not sure what this means for the story of the mod. Perhaps Kacee found a way to make a digital version of herself and now wants to ascend back to the physical world? Perhaps one of the scribes want to? Not sure, but this opens up a lot of doors for what story could be told.
The floating cards are probably being rendered from 3D to 2D and then displayed onto the cards. Hence why you can see the last rendered card still floating out of bounds. I'm guessing the reason why all the "living" cards have their own version next to the other card is because they're animated. Instead of rendering the card and making it a texture, I think the card itself it just constantly rendered so it can actually be animated. Otherwise facial animations and such would not be possible. Interesting technique though. I don't know why they would render in 3D and not just generate the image, but cool little thing
yeah the record in the safe you can get using one of the codes from the regular game, it's just an extra soundtrack as you can choose what music you listen to when you play using the record player in kaycee's mod
About the gender of the player. I did the game with the french translation, which is a gendered language, and the language switches from male to female. So I guess it was on purpose.
The meat in the safe the only way you can actually encounter the Easter egg is putting in the code before you’re supposed to know it and it stays open after you die
Honestly I kinda wish they make a sequel but with a proper visual design. This game is great but everything has jaggidy corners and it could look so much better.
