In Chaozhou, a coastal city in Guangdong Province, chef Xu Weixin has put Chaoshan Tower Restaurant on the map with handmade beef meatballs that represent the local style of Cantonese cuisine. The physically demanding technique required to make this signature dish is one of many lessons that Xu has taught his young apprentice, Chen Youtian. These two generations of chefs talk about how the Guangdong government’s Cantonese cuisine chef training programme brought them together with a shared goal of keeping traditional Chaozhou cooking alive and evolving.

Chaozhou is not a branch of cantonese cuisine. It’s like saying Vietnamese cuisine is a branch of Cambodian cuisine.

40 minutes hammering meat, and from the look of it, that is 40 minutes for one batch. I don't know how many batches a day they have to make. It really test your strength and more importantly your patience.

It’s so interesting tho, teochew cuisine is still very frequent here in south east asia but because in guangdong where there are so many styles of cuisine, teochew cuisine is considered underrated and even forgotten

I love fish skin dumplings, especially with fermented shrimp paste mixed into the meat filling, no one ever serves it in the US.

Interesting that other than Shandong, all of the other 8 culinary traditions of China originated from the south Makes you wonder what was northern Chinese cuisine like, especially prior to the influx of the "barbarians", during the early years of the Han dynasty for example

I'm Indonesian and I confirm this one. Even though I don't still learn more details, but I heard the mom did her under black magic (don't ask me how). The daughter tor tured by mon, dad, uncle, and grandpa. Mom told he was under halucination that she saw there's 'something' in her daughter's eyes that need to be taken off.

Almost of Filipino chinese are form Guangzhou China,, that why Filipino in nationality but the last is xu cua li de Lee Kim Chua lim ang ong and other, now also most coming are for mainland China,,

😂I thought I heard wrong too. Chaozhou (Teochew) practically don’t get along with Cantoneses for generations. So this error is like a slap in the face!

Please get narrators who can say Chinese names properly When she said Master Xu, it sounded like she was saying Master Shoe I'm no expert, but I don't think that's how his name sounds like in Mandarin

潮州口音,潮州话是闽南语分支,和粤语不同。

@@ctyhk1997 谢谢你的澄清,我只会说普通话,从我这个外国人的耳朵里,视频里的人的口音听起来和我看过的香港电影差不多,像是官方普通话和粤语口音的混合。而事实上,这是闽南语的影响。
