Hi, Neal! It was a pleasure meeting you via Zoom a few weeks back. Today, I met with Dr. Amy Brown, who performed my initial in-person evaluation. Her tests confirmed just how far over on my right side I’ve been operating. Amy helped me to sense my foot arches, which allowed me to get neutral! I’m ordering some PRI-recommended shoes tonight and will begin a 12-week course with Amy next week. I’m very excited to start overcoming these patterns that have caused me so much pain and discomfort for years! Thanks for setting me on the PRI path to recovery!

In the two videos I've watched so far all you talk about is the right side. My problem is on the left side. Slightly higher pelvic tilt on the left due to minor scoliosis. Also a herniated disc at L3/4 with nerve sensations (mild with no pain) in my glute medium and left foot. I've been experiencing intense spasms (one every 4-6 months) that lock up my left side. I'm in therapy at Mayo and they are working on the left QL, and erector spinae with strengthening , stretches, and dry needle therapy) as I have intense hot spots in the region. I'm a retired 45 year long athlete, with good BMI and metabolic health. But this is destroying my mind as my activities are now vastly limited; but I'm fighting every step of the way. In terms of your discussion, can I simply reverse your right side discussion to the left and apply your techniques?

So if you are left side dominant then your left side is compressed? Is that why my left QL is so tight and compressed?

Fantastic videos, my pain and life has dramatically improved thanks to your videos and seeing a PRI. I've been seeing a PRI for a few months and I've been making very slow progress and I think my neck has something to do with holding me. You've mentioned in other videos how these exercises won't work if you have neck things going on. I was having trouble getting my QL and left diaphragm to chill out. The other day and I tried some carful fascial release on my sternocleidomastoid (avoiding my jugular and so on). As soon as it begin releasing I felt and heard gurgling at the front left of my ribs and the tension was gone and my QL wasn't firing. My left jaw was more relaxed and down my back left shoulder blade I felt a maybe a muscle/tendon/ligament "twang" and my shoulder moved down and forward slightly on its own and I realized I was diaphragmatically breathing without issue. Do you have any videos or tips on how to inhibit the sternocleidomastoid to get to the point you can diaphragmatically breathe again?

Thank you for this information! 🤗 I've been recently seeing a chiropractor and osteo-massage therapist, and neither can provide the information you are. The fact that I am very dominant on the entire right side, ( unstable left hip, and right hip higher, which osteo-massage therapist suggests it's possibly longer right leg, and finally suggested I see a podiatrist to get fitted for an orthotic... Which my chiropractor doesn't think is likely my issue ). So, now very interested with your shared knowledge! I have also done some block therapy, to deal with body tissue and nerve pain, by melting fascia, to also assist bringing my body back into balance. Multiple issues involving sports injuries, pedestrian-auto injury to my lower left side (impact to hip -down to mid calf, w/ tibia fracture) - balancing body, building strength and reduce pain is my current focus.

Great content! I've played hockey whole my life with tens of thousands hours on ice dangling and shooting (i'm lefty, so left hand down, right hand up). This has made tricky for me to get pelvis alinged. I've realised that my right QL is weaker, but also tighter. The left side is much stronger and also flexible. I think I would need to stretch the right side open and then work on it...

I can do the first exercise but my knee is incredibly bent does this still count as my back being too tight and moving too forward? Btw I am binge watching all of your videos and they are so helpful I have spent so much money on different chiropractioners here in the UK and none of them mentioned that I have a left AIC, I started doing your exercises and felt emotional because it was the first time that I could actually breathe on my right side and understood the anatomy behind it, I grew up in fight or flight mode which I believe is the root factor for all of this. So far I have been stimulation my vagus nerve, mewing so I am no longer clenching my teeth, taking into account my food sensitivites and overall being mindful about my shoulders as the keep tugging up. thank you so much!

Another great video Neal, love your explanations. I use functional movements to help clients restore posture and completely agree with many clients not being able to get onto the left side. I see this a lot with sports-related injuries. Also, I find clients want to train both sides of their bodies equally which is not correct especially when you have imbalances.

Neal thank you so much for all of this information! I came to a conclusion after a month of avoiding my eyeglasses and then making new glasses lowering my right eye to be equal to the left, that my right eye dominance is a key factor for my brain in this pattern. Felt huge changes in my stance, tissues moved and stretched at my left hip cause it finally relaxed, felt pain in my left jaw, my left eye, tons of things were changing and responding. After 3 months of not seeing so good, trying to strengthen with all the exercises you teach here, i thought i can make new glasses and seeing good again, while still feeling the same. I realized it ain’t the case and when i run for example, i can feel instantly my left hip relaxes and stretches when i remove my glasses. Am i doomed to just not seeing clearly in order for my brain to relax? This is so frustrating, any help would be amazing ❤️

Hey dr. Neil, thank you for this very informative video. Your passion shows. Also i have made a very interesting discovery through implementing your exercises post 20 mile hike. Of course because of the excesive work and over burden of at least 40pounds, challenging terrain i had to really challenge mysel. Well lord knows as soon as i came home i took a hot shower shook the ticks ofd, i went on to strech... im not even kidding my whole body snapped from my neck and shoulders all the way down my spine. Almost as if the muscle under a certain amount of stress regains coeherence and becomes more maleable? Please consider and thank you for your great work.

Hi Neal, everybody I had a very very very special PRI experience and I wonder if someone ever hear of something like this. At some point of my PRI program my brain started to leading me through various movements and muscle contractions for about 11 months until now. The movements are not involuntary and not voluntary, something between of this. Like a very strong need. But I feel coming more and more on my left side, had my left Periphery back, a lot of autonomic deseases desappear my sensible theet don't hurt no more and my pain and tension reduces every day. My guess is, that the pri techniques take away a certain stabilisatation in my body, and now my body has to go back to it's origin natural stabilisatation state. I have record some of the movements, and could send them if needed. Do I have to go to a neurologist or something, or will this movements stop when I'm stable enough? I hope you had similar cases. Thanks for your help

New question for you Neil. What's going on in the following scenario? This is my default position...if I train my left side this is where I end up when get back on my right side. Here it is - I end standing on my right side with my left ribs still tucked down back and in and rib cage is oriented to the left and my mid back is like a reverse "C"...my spine as a whole is closer toy right pelvis. In this stance my right pelvis is either even or slightly ahead of my left pelvis. I think this mid back deformity is limiting my ability to properly execute some of these exercises on a consistent basis...I mean, how does a person get into true right stance when this is going on. I think 30 years and thousands of rounds of golf put me here. When I go to the chiropractor he adjusts this mid back area/shift back into position.....but only holds for so long....and that time frame is much shorter if I go back out to the Thanks Neil

I see a lot of stretches on social media to improve thoracic extension as a way to prevent/reverse "humpback" aging. But it seems like a lot people live in that pattern and are neck breathers to begin with. Is a left handed person less likely to have the typical pattern? Could a left handed person ever have the opposite pattern of what you normally see?

I've been watching your videos for 2 years.....this one is by far your best work. Seriously. Ty 1 question: what do I do with my right femur?...I've been doing these exercises so long my right femur is stuck in external rotation....usually I'm stuck down on my left side now, while simultaneously my right side won't release....then I just get this twisting of my body that travels up and down the length of my spine creating what feels like some type of migrating scoliosis......thats just what it feels like....I'm no expert on what's actually happening. My hips become super narrow and hiked up on both sides...my waist changes from a 34 to a 30 instantly. Then I have no torso...just ribs and hips....front and back...nothing in between....it's totally bizarre My left hip is definitely back....I feel like I can't compress my right side now and get back onto my right leg

It really seems like I get suck In a posterior pelvic tilt when I'm like this. I think there's a lot of side shifting going on. That right glute is super tight.. If I can get that guy firing and get some hip extension it's usually a game changer ....it fixes all my spinal problems and neck.issues. feels so good I usually just fall asleep....definately something going on there on the right hip/glute/hammy area...zero doubt about that... Recently I was thinking about I continuous exercise that might be beneficial for the brain. I would perform some daily tasks with my LEFT hand instead of my right (since I'm left handed). Things like switching up fork and knife while eating, using my left hand to guide my toothbrush or my hairbrush, obviously writing or drawing with the other hand. Really any activities I normally heavily execute with my dominate right hand. Would there be any benefit for my brain and body doing that? I've done this a number of times now I while it certainly can be difficult I enjoy the feeling of being challenged and I also noticed that my right hand/arm/shoulder doesn't feel as "strained or overworked" as a result. Sınce 2018 , i have left side weakness cant get support my left leg whatever u say . I sit a lot and playing games raging for stupid video games. I was punching the wall with outside of my hand. The wall is on my right side. I was probably clenched my teeths a lot. Maybe that rotated my spine or jaw or pelvis. Human body already right sided as u said and my body probably happy but i my left side wasnt. After couple days ago when i do some TJM exercises. I realised my left side is feeling better but its really tiny spark. Tried 90/90 exerice but i felt tension at left side of my neck. I feel sad now. I dont know what to do . Peace.

Hi Neal, can an underdeveloped left cerebellum cause the kind of torsion or patterning you describe in your videos? Secondly, can fixing left visual field suppression with lenses fix everything or would one still need PRI and work afterwards to properly ground?

You would absolutely need to work with a PRI professional, especially to understand the influence your visual intervention is having on your body.

I have a question can the tissues get inflamed a bit when opening up the side where you are collapsed ? It feels a bit tender in the lower back near spine where myscles or tissues attach after stretching for few days. I have tried a technique where you but the elbow above your head while you walk it opens up while moving. Any thoughts?

The best thing for hips and back is the Asian squat! For two years everyday I do at least 3-5 minutes of the squat. I have a degenerative disc disease since 1987. It is gone now at 62. The carnivore diet also helped. Got off disability after 33 years. I now walk 7k steps minimum a day along with kettle bell workouts 2-3 days a week. The breathing stuff is total bullshit- 40 years in medicine and never heard anything so insane.

Just wondering what your thoughts would be on the boxing stance where right hand people have their left hip, foot and fist in front. And their right hand and foot in the back?

Boxing is great alternating behavior! Jab (left ribs go back) cross- gets you to left stance . Loads of alternating in boxing (I do it too- it’s helped me with my postural restoration program a ton!) once I got better left abs/left stance my jab got so much stronger!

ive been doing airpunches at night switching between right hand stand and south paw throwing jabs and crosses on both sides really twisting the hips. i have no formal training experience. it helps a lot with loosening up, and I hear/feel a lot of movement in my body.

🌬 Restoring diaphragmatic breathing and pelvic stability can help relax the quadratus lumborum muscles and improve flexibility and movement. 🚶‍♀ We should aim to be on our left side when walking and moving, putting our weight on our left leg to achieve balance and alignment. 💨 "The only way to get the right quadratus lumborum (ql) underactive is to lengthen the right side of the body and compress the left side." 🤔 The right and left quadratus lumborums should not be treated the same way because they have different reasons for being tight or overactive. 🧠 The overactivity of the right quadratus lumborum (ql) muscle can be caused by the brain's attempt to compensate for improper weight distribution and pelvic instability. 🌬 The technique of breathing and getting air into the left lower and midback can help stabilize the pelvis and prevent the left ql from being overused for stabilization. 🧘‍♀ The order of techniques to relax the quadratus lumborums effectively includes the standing wall supported reach, side-lying rest position, lower right butt right inner thigh stretch inhibition technique, and the scissor slide. 🧠 Emotions have a significant impact on the coordination of movement and breathing, highlighting the importance of relaxation for overall well-being. Might not be related but regarding the last part, I have noticed that if I do cardio running and listen to music at headphones, while there is dopamine being boosted and makes the practice pleasurable at least to get it formed into a habit, I do notice that my coordination is affected and even breathing, catching myself step in the rhythm of the music and then even breath the same.

Hi Neal! I have a question about a practice called MEAW and GEAW therapy. I have an appointment this upcoming November to hopefully be the step in the right direction to fixing my right torsion. Have you heard about this practice in anyway? There’s just not a lot of information on the internet such as cases. A few, but not many on crossbites like myself. The founder of PRI, Ron, talked highly of Dr. Chang in his first mandibular webinar during the questions period so I looked up his practice and he’s only 3 hours from me! I’ll take it as a sign. I’m going to that appointment first, but if I’m not a candidate for whatever reason or if it doesn’t feel like the right direction for me, I’ll be going to my PRI splint appointment with Smile Source with Dr Alice Lam since there’s just more information on splints helping people with my case. Regardless I hope this will give someone an idea of what orthodontic procedures are available.

Hey Neal I have a question... How did you fix your visual system issue? Was it just about wearing glasses? Because i realized that i also have a lazy left eye, and i literally relay all the time on my right eye. I even noticed that i usually ignore the world on my left side, its as if i just wanted to go right. What is more, i had a left arm fracture like 15 years ago, and that also makes me sense danger on the left side.

I have to make a video about it, because it’s complicated. You “see” with your entire body, not just your eyes, so as my body became more integrated, my vision improved.

So what would be the dx if one can stand on d left leg & raise the R foot abv waist level w no problem grabbing hold of the R great toe as u show, but when transitioning to the L leg & raising the R leg, there is no lateral stability. When using a hand rail for stability, the R leg still wobbles from side to side, though if the R leg is supported, the L leg can also be raised to waist level & d great toe easily cupped w d R hand. But w no support for the R leg, no can raise L leg to waist height. What needs to be done to improve stability?

When I direct air into my right side my shoulder / scapula area cracks, opens up and widens but doesn’t seem to stay like that but if looks and feels much better. What to do this to keep it there? Thanks
@NealHallinan
@NealHallinan 11 месяцев назад
You need a complete program to keep it open. You have to integrate the pelvis with the thorax. To do it on your own without help from a professional is quite difficult.

You repeat yourself too much, i found myself drifting coz of boredom and it reminded me of my student days when the same thing used to happen. The contain is gold but the presentation is shit. You should hv made it standing up so that you can use your own body as prop and you must kept your speech clear and to the point with mini repetition. Please don't be a boring school teacher on RU-vid 🙏
