Secrets & Scandals Of Only Fools And Horses delves into the behind-the-scenes stories of how the show was made and became Britain’s favorite sitcom. This special reveals the secrets behind the hilarious visual gags, the lost episodes, and the potential alternate casting of the beloved characters.
Featuring interviews with Sue Holderness, who played Marlene, comedy actor and fan John Thomson, alongside cast and crew members who made the series, and historians discussing the sitcom's impact, the program offers a comprehensive look at the show’s legacy.
The show unveils behind-the-scenes secrets of iconic TV moments, including the infamous chandelier scene and Del's memorable visit to a wine bar. Sue Holderness shares how Marlene evolved from a one-scene character to a sitcom legend, and recounts a near-fatal filming trip to Miami.
Additionally, the program explores why one episode was pulled from repeats and reveals secrets about the casting of the main characters, including the surprising story of how David Jason almost missed out on playing Del.
Finally, we discover how writer and creator John Sullivan managed to get the show on air through his resourcefulness and the real-life events that inspired the hilarious storylines.

My granddad had a major stroke. Business savvy, he was gone. Mentally, a shell. It was hard to see. My dad struggled. His best friend was no longer and couldn't even stand. We'd all watch OFAH together and he would laugh too. Del Boy and Rodders came through. Granddad still understood. Fuck.. Some of the shittest but best memories. I hear ya. I was working in a house around the back of the royal albert hall that had a ballroom in the back. It was being done up their was me and the interior designer with me and a painter hand painting what looked like roman figures on the arched ceiling and a man replacing the droplets back on a chandelier, i later found out he was working for a company i believe called galleon lights. I was working on a window so i had my back to all this and getting on with my job when a crashing sound like i have never heard before or since made me turn around to see the young painter looking totally shocked and a middle aged man still up his stepladder holding a droplet. I will never forget what he said "this has never happened to me before" i would have laughed but just then the lady of the house came in. When i went back to the same job i found out the chandelier was priceless. Do not know what the outcome was but the chandelier company blamed the builders for not making sure the wooden beam was in good condition and the builders blamed the chandelier company.. Never found out the outcome of it all but i bet it was a long expensive legal battle. As i write this i can still hear the sound of crashing crystal as it hit the wooden dance floor.

I tend to agree with the OP. But the reality is Del would have messed that up royally - it's pre-built into him - so it's not particularly unbelievable he would have lost that wealth. Whether we wanted to see all that though, is another matter. The final episode with Rodney's true paternal parentage was rather touching, if only they could have merged that into those final three 1996 specials, that would have been perfect. There's plenty of real life examples of some people who come into enormous wealth (like lottery winners) from a position of being just average , where it totally destroys their lives. Be careful what you wish for. And if you do get it - be sensible and modest.

A Royal Flush is hard to watch from the dinner scene towards the end. Del is obnoxious and I quite often used to zone out or switch off at that art, so it's good to see it's not just me that struggles with that part. All that bollocks about 24 million viewers.... so what? 'Steptoe and Son' (which John Sullivan nicked most of his material from) regularly got 28 million viewers per episode and even had the date of a general election changed as politicians feared no one would go and vote in they timed it with the transmisson of the comedy!

Imagine Liz Hurley in Fools and Horses! She is a stunner and is a better actor than Cassandra's actor. Very interesting to think about. Imagine Rodney with a stunning girlfriend though. I'm not sure it would have suited him as Cassandra seems more realistic as a partner for Rodney. You'd expect Del to have a bird like Liz Hurley with all the glamour etc.

THESE OLDER KIDS would say, "Yeah... Ever looked at HISTOREX or 1/35th Tamiya Plastics????" (Might as well have been introduced to HARD DRUGS!!!!) xx SF

If you watched one or two episodes then you can't really assess it properly. Some of season 1 are a bit rubbish but there are a few good ones, the bengal tiger, the bounty hunter and aces high and sometimes very low are all brilliant.
