I have a feeling just by watching this video that you, Ray, know what you're doing. Do you have any videos on how to get along with the photographer? I've structured my business very differently than the normal videographer here in Atlanta to avoid confrontation altogether. I sell myself as a behind the scenes, photojournalistic style cinematographer. Unfortunately I have to set my prices lower because of it. Not saying that I don't make a good amount of money doing what I do, but I would love to get the chance to be as important as the photographer. You know, cuz the photographer "runs the show..." So with this behind the scenes type of filming, I'm able to basically lay down my life for the photographer to avoid an argument. Everyone is happy and the photographer even ends up referring me to other brides. The reason I'm asking YOU this is because it seems like your approach to filing weddings is the opposite of mine. You may try to control the wedding situations as much or more than the photographer which can cause big issues as far as the photographer hating your guts, pissing someone off by getting in their way and not getting as much business as the "behind-the-scenes" guy. I'd love to hear your thoughts, and also ask if you think it would be a good idea to call the photographer ahead of time and just let them know how you get your shots that you need. Would you put it in the contract that you need big, cinematic shots too? Do you have the bride put video direction for you in the timeline/contract. Thanks for your time, and response.
