already have caught a 30# Blue Cat off of these (going to try to get a 60#+ next year). ru-vid.comUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 Definitely very strong, and sharp. Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.
*These floats do what they say they do **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they come on and off easily and can be adjusted in seconds to adjust to the depth of the water you are fishing in. Used these with trout magnet lures and did really well with them in the stream!*
Brilliant use of Hugh hook and paracord! So much easier to see what is going on, big thumbs up from here in Dorset uk. Never mind your pronunciation of Uni everyone knew exactly what you meant. Thanks for taking the time to bring us this great video. Once again thank you.
this knot is better than the clinch knot that I was taught as a kid to tie an I broke big ones off an I started to do the improved way I just done that as a kid an it seemed to catch more of the big ones...but now I use palmer knot cause I was breaking off fish with this new line....so I must say the palmer knot is the knot im teaching my kids to use cause it is very strong knot the line will break before the knot an it works with all the new lines very good so if there one knot for every kind of way of fishing teach your kids the palmer knot
As far as knot strength vs ease of tying you can't beat the Davy knot. Agreed the uni may be incrementally stronger but much more difficult to tie especially in low light conditions. With some practice just about anyone can tie the Davy blindfolded. I guess the "oonie" version of the uni is tied when fishing for sea urchin.
When looping back and wrapping, make the loop large enough so that you can form the wraps loosely. They should look like spirals rather than wraps. Pulling the tag end will cause the wraps to spiral over each other inverting the direction of the spiral (towards the hook rather than away) and with the tag end and the standing part lying parallel besides each other on the inside of spiral.
Would it matter if the 2 ropes that you are tying around are twisted a little bit? Every time I do the uni knot I find that it's easy for the lines to twist up. Seems a bit easier with paracord to make sure they are aligned. I haven't broken off yet so I guess I'm worrying too much
New sub. I always use the same fisherman's knot my grandpa's taught me about 30 years ago now I can tie some new ones .. one thing I've recently gotten into bass fishing and I'm having a hard time with the uniknot or whatever it's called that helps you tie flouro or mono onto braid without having a big Glob of knotted up line, I've watch 100 tutorials but it's hard to see with them using regular monitor flouro but your videos stand out because the brigjt orange paracord can you please for the love of god and my sanity make a video fornanneensubscriber on how to make that knot which I also think is called the uni knot as well but I could be wrong, all I know is I mainly use braid and like to throw a Caroline rig or something and need a leader with some flouro but I can never get it right so can you please help and make a video on that plez and thank and by the way awesome videos, short sweet simple and straight tonthe point unlike this comment haha. Thank you for your help to us fisherman to learn multiple knots to add to our arsenal instead of our 2 or so in my casem they polymar and idk the technical name of the other but it's the one where u run your line thru the eye of the hook and grlet ya a good bit of slack and just spinning about 8 to 10 times and towards the eye of the hook ya out your tag end thru the opening you've held with your fingers get it wet wjdbcincbmh it doenm. Idk the name but that and the polymar knot is all i know and would really love to learn how to be able to tie a leader with some flouro to my main braid but I can't please help sir and thanks again!
When seeing this, I thought it might be helpful to explain why most fishing or nautical knots are done the way they are. One thing I see common between all of them, is that they're all strong knots, but also are easy to undo when needed. In this case, the loops create a large area where a gap can be created, if the knot is bent sideways. That gap can allow the end of the rope/string to be removed and unraveled.
laylownismo just secures the knot by friction, usually the more wraps the better but there's a limit, you want a small smooth knot that slips through the guides on a rod for example. Always spit on nylon line before tightening so it doesn't weaken from friction.
Hi you don’t have go through twice and it’s called the tag end, the standing part or end is the main part of any line and it’s pronounced younee as in u as there is no o in it! As in ohhh honey tie me up! This is DG New Forest UK
David Green, as I understand it if using braid go through twice, strengthens the knot, if using mono once is sufficient twice will weaken the knot. Clive from deepest Dorset uk. Note. Probably won’t make a scrap of difference to the number of fish you get to the bank😂
jonathan hoing depends on line type. Mono = 5 wraps, braid = minimum 8 wraps. I have tested it and up to 10 wraps, the knot gets stronger. After 10 you have no additional gain before it starts getting weaker since the wraps aren't uniform.
