Since being stood-up by the US Army in 2017, Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFABs) have provided the U.S. Army with unique capabilities and immense flexibility. In this interview-driven film, we examine the SFAB mission, hear what life is like as an advisor, and explore the challenges SFABs will face in the future. The film features Major General Donn H. Hill, the Commanding General at Security Force Assistance Command (SFAC), as well as Lieutenant General (Ret.) Michael Lundy and other leaders from SFAC and the SFABs. Among other topics, these leaders discuss how SFABs strengthen our allies and partner forces while supporting U.S. security objectives.

SFAB's are extremely important. Doing liaison work and so forth is not always easy, but it's vital for NatSec and Int'l Relations.

Glad the air is clear on the SFAB mission which is to focus, enable, advise, and liaison with conventional forces and converge systematically with conventional forces.

Joining the SFAB definitely an interesting, impactful, eye-opening assignment. Was rewarding in a completely different way than I had previously experienced. Not only do I feel I had lent value to a bigger picture, but also found value in myself. Great path.

I am happy to see that they included our ETT & MiTT advisors in the history of the SFAB.

How does this compare with SPP - National Guard’s State Partnership Program ? Another tool for building international relationships is National Guard’s State Partnership Program which has 87 partnerships with 93 nations around the globe. As one example, the California National Guard is partnered with Ukraine and, prior to Russia’s invasion, provided training for Ukraine's armed forces. 2022 National Defense Strategy places great emphasis on USA working with allies and partners.

The SPP is part of the Security Force Assistance triad. They are an incredible asset! We are incorporating what we do more and more with the SPP and our incredible National Guard partners!

thanks! google tells me...@@armysfabs The U.S. Army’s Security Force Assistance Triad ….article by Charles McEnany for Association of the United States Army Security Force Assistance Brigades SFABs are the first purpose-built formation for SFA, The Army has conducted these missions for decades, often utilizing: Army Special Forces (SF) Green Berets and the National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP). Through the three complementary legs of the SFA triad-SFABs, SF and SPP-the Army maintains a cost-effective and regionally tailored capability to train foreign forces while fostering broader governmental and societal engagement

We seem to be teaching a lot of third world countries how to fight NATO troops better......

That’s uneducated from you to believe that. Any nation out there, absolutely all have inside haters and opposition. The trick is to find them, train them to help US Military, they are not traitors, no mercenaries…they can be formidable allies…there is no way u occupy enemy territories with out native allies…Example is Cuba, do you know how many volunteers in Miami are willing to join US Military to invade that Island. So, why to put American soldiers in risk if u can build a militia willing to take the bullet, and help us to deliver our ‘freedom’.

Can’t speak for other brigade’s partner forces. But everything we did was teach various smaller partner nations how to fight and be a contributing partner TO NATO.
