With the publication of the new FM 3-0, Operations, there's lots to unpack. Why the tenets? Contested deployments? What do we do with the imperatives? Following an introduction by LTG Milford H. Beagle, Commander, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, COL(R) Rich Creed, Director, Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate (CADD) explains the new FM 3-0 and the Army's operational concept, Multidomain Operations (MDO).

If y’all want somebody to drop chapters on your long form videos. I would love to do that. It may also make some of your longer videos more palatable and useful over time.

Thanks Ryan. We plan on breaking the full length video into chapter segments and posting, but wanted to get the finished flick out first so everyone would have access. You’re spot on, the shorter vids are more palatable and tend to work better for classes and LPDs.

Recommend adding time stamps to the current video. This will facilitate a focus on a specific topic and still maintain the ability to see how it is all connected.

@@usacaddhi 👋 I appreciate the attempt to make it easier to navigate, but I think you misunderstood what they meant in a way that has made your page more cluttered & difficult to navigate. What they meant by chapters is that there is a feature on here where you can add timestamps to a RU-vid video with descriptions of what's at the point in the video allowing people to quickly navigate long videos without having to guess where in the video core topics are discussed. If you break it up into multiple videos instead of having to search back & forth in one place you have to jump between entirely separate videos in a playlist which gets really tedious & counterproductive tbh.

Having read the documents prior to 2012, this seems much more rational in appreciation of indirect fighting. I am also thrilled that we are taking seriously that combat and conflict take forms beyond shooting at each other; the Army needs to understand their place in shaping conflict in our favor regardless of the intensity and resourcing, and this is a great start.

Are we going to keep BCTs as a naming convention after the new 3-0 and Waypoint 2028? The new structure has brought back pure brigades. FA, armor, and infantry. In an organization that loves to say words matter; what story is the Army trying to say still calling brigades “Brigade Combat Teams”. Do we need to have 2 extra words to tell brigades they are to conduct combat and they are a team now that Brigade commanders will not have direct control of EAB assets through all operations ?

Sir, with all due respect; this new program won't end up as one of those "Check the Boxes" doctrines from the 1980s will it? (ALLONS!)

What is the reason why Mission Command was not added to the Combat Power slide?
@usacadd
@usacadd Год назад
The slide depicts the warfighting functions. Mission command would be incorrect as command and control (C2) is the warfighting function. Mission command is the Army's approach to command and control that empowers subordinate decision making and decentralized execution appropriate to the situation. Refer to ADP 6-0, Mission Command (July 2019) for more information on C2 and mission command.

It’s interesting the army doctrine is so public I mean don’t enemy countries have a clear idea of how we operate?
@usacadd
@usacadd Год назад
Most of our publications are written at the unclassified level. There are some that are more strictly controlled, but we've made an effort to make Army doctrine more accessible to the Force. None of the videos we produce deal with sensitive subjects. Likewise with our podcast, Breaking Doctrine, we make sure to do a OPSEC scrub before posting. Finally, Army doctrine is subjective, not directive. We don't tell Commander's specifically how to operate, but give them the tools necessary to make sound decisions, plan and execute successful, doctrinally based operations...and that keeps the threat guessing on what we may do.

There’s not much in this video or FM 3-0 that is an opsec issue
@GrainOnTheGo
@GrainOnTheGo 3 месяца назад
Adversaries will have access to this and more regardless of the public knowing how it works there isn’t much OPSEC to be broken. If actual immediate plans were being divulged I’d get it but the matter of doctrine is rarely ever fully classified. You have channels like Battle Order that go into excruciating detail on unit structure so keep that in mind.

RU-vid nonsense I’m afraid. Now even “unmonetized” videos can get commercials unless the Uploader goes out of their way to unmonetize them. Even then, it seems like a bit of a crapshoot. Of course, I’m only a third of the way through. If General Beagle up there takes a moment to talk to us about Raid: Shadow Legends, I might have an aneurism.
