Played segbergh as a junior in 2004/2005. We beat every private school in the north east, and went our last season undefeated. But remember rocking up and when we were warming up and I remember our fly half asking why the coach is wearing a warm up suit. Literally couldn't believe it when he took it off and he was one of the locks. They tore us apart that day, best school we ever played in six seasons.
Jan Strottmann a good scrap? I doubt 2 teams full of pompous pricks playing each other was a good scrap. At worst there was probably an argument in the ruck about who’s daddy’s firm is more successful.
Luke Pembroke you know nothing bout private schools we are the same as any other school just pay for the education and halfthe people go for free anyway
Kayley Holland pffff, played a bunch of private schools and strength and skill isn’t much different but not one of them has any bottle u get in their face and they don’t want the ball again
Jack Turner no skill and strength is a lot different if you go to a school dedicated to rugby you train sm and they force you do to weights and this is not true you get into someone’s face in my skl you will get a fight simple
Yeah but tbf teams like sedbergh millfield and wellington would have a good chance of beating grey, their teams are full of u18 internationals and the rest will be academy players given the option for a contract (all on scholarship of course 😂)
Oisin Molloy I can confirm that this squad have not been to Ireland so it wasn’t this squad who have gone unbeaten all year !! People are missing the point here this particular squad of this season have gone unbeaten - by anyone !!
people who play for Sedbergh first team all play for national u18 some of them for irland most for England scotaldn and some for Wales so good luck beating them
Thought England would be looking beyond worn out old public school method for future players. It's 2018 and here we are nice school blazers, scarves and bloody good blokes, Okay Ya, absolutely! Meanwhile in NZ and Ireland. Sweeping up! 😂🤣😃
The wellington side looked much younger and completely out of their depth defensively - well done Sedebergh but reading below you discover that Wellington were fielding a very young side.
Bees tbf it is, look up paarl boys high vs paarl gim in SA or Kings vs Auckland grammar in NZ. Quality is miles ahead too, schoolboy matches between top schools in the Southern Hemisphere are probably as high if not higher quality than academy matches over here. The only slightly odd thing is that their line outs are pretty rubbish at schoolboy level for whatever reason.
+khwezi c its a cultural thing in places like New Zealand and South Africa but especially New Zealand rugby, whilst still a sport of the elite has more widespread inclusion with upper working class involvement that largely doesn't exist in England. So the fathers of kids at Paarl Boys or Paarl Gym (which bring a crowd of over 25,000 people) are made up of everything from CEOs and professionals to mid management types and even blue collar workers in England a school like Sedbergh (which is #1 for rugby and Top 5 for cricket) the dad's are hedge fund managers; bankers or millionaire businessmen or they have shown such obvious talent at an early age that the school has brought them in on a scholarship something along the lines of the US college scholarship system.
as much as people hate to hear it, there team from that year was most likely invincible. They had 6 England 18’s players and alot more Sale boys with future Eng18’s boys coming through
Yo dude there are two coaches from sedburgh that come to where I live and the sedburgh people are offering me and some other team mates to go to their school
Please come tour South Africa and play the likes of Grey College, Paul Roos Gim, Paarl Gim or Paarl Boys High. Maybe add to that Monument, Glenwood and Affies. Hell, add any team in the SA top 10... or even top 20. And if you win even one of those games then maybe that "Invincible" soundtrack will start to be justified.
Wook5ter of course classic one , another salty New Zealander in the comment section because there school couldn’t afford to make a documentary to promote there rugby team :) nice one mate
All English professional rugby players come from private schools, if your in a comprehensive school even at better standards and play for a decent Sunday team you will not probably make it. This is so different to other countries and even football.
GINGERcat D your 1 year out you mong stop talking about grey college cause there shit no one gives a shit about your salty ass go back to watching pussies play you donut
Imagine having that much of a chip on your shoulder that you can't appreciate a team celebrating an undefeated season and instead try and make things political lmao.
Yes mate, if NZ's national football side came to England they wouldn't even last in div 3... Kiwis and South Africans are bred to play rugby, it's the main sport there, In England and Europe you learn to kick a football before you learn to throw a pass in rugby. You catch up though if you turn pro, because you are dedicated, but Kiwis especially will always have the natural and instinctive edge over NH players.
It's not as if it's intentional they can only accept people who apply and have the money and since the majority of the North of England is white there will be fewer black people
