Many sources say autumn joy sedums need to be dug up & divided at least every 2 yrs & that will keep them from flopping

Ive noticed that after flowering the leaves and flowers etc get alot aphids on them, Im in southern Australia, so maybe they are from hot temperatures, but it seems to happen on the old stems and spent inflorescences when they begin to sort of die off.

You can prune them back until July to keep them a little more compact.

hey, Jeff..just thumbing through and watched your video. YES, deer will eat them. i have 2 large sedums in the back yard where i also have a local herd of deer,weve named them, lol. i noticed that something was eating the tips of the sedums. after a while i saw deer prints there and eventually the deer thenselves eating the sedums. just thought id pass it along.

Thanks for that information. Are they mainly eating the flower heads/ I see that for certain plants the deer usually leave alone, they just eat the flower head.
@Bluebirdt120
@Bluebirdt120 8 лет назад
+Jeff Wortham yes, they've eaten about half of the flower heads but, well before they've even flowered.

very few guarantees with deer unless the plant is poisonous

I think these might be a good ground cover to work with Allium Globemasters to hide their taller stems.I also have echinacea so would love to have this in my garden.Thank you for your helpful videos.

My autumn joy sedums are getting brown spots on them. Any idea what that could be? I'm in zone 8. Thanks for any tips!

Not to hijack this man's video, but I have found too much moisture to be the cause.

I'd like to plant some sedums in colors other than the standard "Autumn Joy". I've tried to find sources for white sedums ("Stardust"), red sedums ("Carmen", "Meteor", "Dragon's blood"), and purple sedums ("Mr. Goodbud"). So far, no luck.

I've just bought 'Carl' - in a shade of purple - looks promising.
