I’m a lifelong piano player too and you have to be crazy to prefer playing drums on a keyboard over a drum pad. I felt like he just said that as an excuse because they didn’t add a drum pad.

Would really love to see a ribbon, a joystick option instead of the wheels, and the ability dataport out to full size monitor or monitors as well as usb ports for mice,keyboards and tablets for work in the home studio. Also a bank of 8 faders for drawbar organs, a couple more for good measure and a fistful of knobs. They are going to get there eventually.

I think if it was trip[le censured, they would advertise that, since it's a huge issue among certain players...so I'm guessing that it's maybe a bit better, but nothing to write home about...again, otherwise why NOT rave about the new differences other than "it allows me to play soft and really loud"...LOL really? didn't know that about a piano..they're evasive on purpose. For this reason alone, I am not interest in this.

I have the original S88, and just bought the new one. The keyboard feels very similar on both. Not a particularly high quality action. Definitely not in the same league as a Korg Kronos or Yamaha Motif (which I also own).

I wish they use TP40/wood, so I can use this keyboard instead of Studiologic SL88 Grand. The controls of Native instruments is much better than Studiologic.

I really enjoyed this VIDEO. NI Instruments are awesome. However I do wish there were FADERS. & DRUM PADS. But I think this was made without drum pads so that you will be forced to BUY a MACHINE. Which I don't feel like a user should have to purchase a MACHINE & KEYBOARD because there are DUAL SCREENS on both and the same buttons or knobs. They have plenty of ROOM on the 88 to add DRUM PADS. They have room on 61 or 49 also.

Considering they haven't said shit about it probably means they haven't done shit to change it or make it better. Sad.. They could have had something really great. When they make an MK3 I hope they add faders,etc. So much room for faders and knobs..

The key bed is awesome guys. I have had mine for 2 weeks now and I’m loving the feel of it. Coming from a Korg triton Studio 88 i have to say it is 100% better.

How about an A88 for those of us that want a weighted full-size keybed and NKS control but without the expense of the screens? Currently I have a S61 MK1 and would love to upgrade but just don't think I'll use the dual screens enough to justify that expense. But I really want to stick with NI for the NKS integration. I honestly think a great quality but simplified 88-key controller from NI would be a hit.

I’m not ready to switch to Kontrol (afraid of spending too much time solving new problems with library, when I have to focus on working) but might consider the KK over the doepfer, if only I knew which keybed it is....

Francesco D'Andrea if you're looking for very realistic piano feel, get a Yamaha KX88. These are over 30 years old, but will make you throw any Doepfer or Fatar out of the window in a second. It doesn't have all the fancy lights tho.

Not sure whether you are responding to this video since it is over 2 years old but here it goes anyway. I have 2 questions. First, you show how beautifully the S88 integrates with Logic. Can it integrate as seamlessly with FL Studio and Ableton Live? Secondly, is there an MPE compatible version in the works? To be honest, I am not sure how that is possible with fully weighted keys, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thank you.

Does anyone know if the MK2 series works with Reason 10? I read the install instructions and it looks like they removed mcu support, which is what we were previously able to use for the transport controls. I don't like the full integration list... it's like they are being too exclusive... and not inclusive of all the other DAWS on the market. I have been a reason user for several years... I don't plan on jumping ship anytime soon.

cool, i'm pretty keen on this keyboard, it has so many features, however, If say for instance i select drums & saxaphone as an instrument on the S88, will I be able to import the same exact drums & saxaphone sounds through the computer thats recording? (I'm using Studio One software) and if i install a third party free sounds library of other instrument, will it be able to playback into the keyboard as i'm playing it?

well, will see how the keyboard feels like, as that is the main feature of this beast. Kinda sad he did not show how that behaves rather than showing what all the pervious versions can do.. I bet the keyboard won't be that worthwhile... my guess. I would like to see a comparison between S88 and VPC 1 or other keys from Kawai, maybe PianoManChuck will make a review, hopefully.

So most plugins these days are NKS compatible. Native Kontrol Standard. NKS enables users of NI hardware and software, such as Maschine and Komplete Kontrol, to use third-party plug-ins with ease. On the next round of Komplete Kontrol hardware, PLEASE add more than only 8 encoders! Theres more than enough room for more knobs, faders, buttons etc. Especially at the prices these go for compared to the competition. 8 knobs is ridiculous, when you guys created great software that makes vst feel like hardware. At least 24 encoders, and 10 faders for less annoying page jumping to REALLY program synths would be an instant buy for many people.

I think it’s a matter of the silicone lubricant they apply at the pivot points in the action. When the keyboard is new, there’s a lot of it, so everything feels smooth and viscously damped. As the keyboard is used, the lubricant gets moved around, and works it’s way out of the pivot. This would be hard to change, because that lubricant is very messy.

For some reason i have a weird rattle noise when i play my s61 mk2.. just bought it last week. It's not the stand cause when i apply pressure on the bottom plate of the keyboard it stops making this noise. Anyone knows what this could be?

I need advice: I really love this keyboard / e-piano and the light guide really is a plus. The only thing that bothers me is: I am willing to save the 999€ for it, but I don't want to be a producer but rather someone that just plays piano music in his free time as kind of a hobby. Seeing how much producing capability this has, brings the question: Will this be too much? Important is the natural feel and key sound. But yea... I begin to wonder, if the KK S88 will be TOO much for what I want to do with it and should rather save a few bucks and take something with less additional features. Edit: It's also important that the keyboard has MIDI and at least a headphone jack or even better: USB for Headset as well as the pedals Is it possible to use Synthesia with MIDI Keyboard? For example the KK S88, where Synthesia could let the Light Guide light up the way the keys do in the software? What do you guys think?

If you are not serious with music production and DAW control and only want to play a piano in you free time or as your hobby then I would suggest you to look at digital pianos.. S88 by Native Instruments is a midi controller keyboard. It is not a standalone piano and it does not have inbuilt tones or speakers..

Just got kk MK2 S88 , for beginner , the set up it is not as straight forwards as its seem , I still a bit confuse some of the sound installed, but its could not load the plug-in. the main problem is, the output is delay, I don't feel like playing in real time and I having problem connect to Ableton. The keyboard is beautiful and high quality piano simulation but the tech side is a bit daunting

Are you using an external audio interface with ASIO drivers? You'll get bad delay/latency using just the laptop soundcard and headphone jack. May also need to experiment with different sample sizes in the audio settings if the sound is breaking up.

Yes, it is a MIDI controller only, so it has not built in sounds or speakers. You connect this to your PC via USB and control their software and sounds on the PC. Some software and sounds are included, and there is more that can be purchased on top.

Of course not, it is a Midi Controller, Native instruments doesn't make stand alone keyboards, they make MIDI CONTROLLERS always have, always will. Why do people use computers to ask silly questions on social media sites instead of going to the companies website and researching the product on their own. In the time it took you to ask that question you could have gone to NI's site and gotten the answers there. Lazy Humans.

It is a controller, no onboard sound. You have to plug it to a computer, or any midi device. But, what I wanted to point is that the amount of VSt you get and the DAW integration is so cool that it worth it.

cant understand why there isn't at least 16 rotary knobs for mixing etc, not as if there wasn't enough room! ah, but of course... next year there will be a Mk3, with 16 knobs and more screens.... then 24.... we know the story. Nice Keyboard however!

very true but that's every company when it comes to marketing. You could just buy this, keep it in great condition and when the next one comes out, sell this one for a few dollars less than you bought it and buy the new one. Yeah you eat some of difference but it ain't that bad.

The fine line between flexibility and clutter. Agreed that 8 is on the light side, but 16 may be too many.

Maybe it could be better to put 8 rotary and 8 sliders... I still can’t get used to some options in VST that are “yes or no” option and u got to turn the rotary 180 degrees to switch !! Haha

It depens for what, i use ableton for my launchpad, tracktion for my audio card (behringer umc22). If you want to create music without real instruments try fl studio.
