@One do you even know how a car works? Maybe it won't be wearing the engine and trans down but the suspension, bearings, differentials and more will still all be wearing down as if they're driving it, putting the transfer case in neutral doesn't disconnect everything

That also happens when you have your vehicle towed if you have a mechanical problem if it's not on a flatbed, the engine is the expensive part that goes along with the transmission you protect those everything else is relatively cheap to replace and throughout the normal life of a vehicle would probably wear out before the engine and transmission

I was gonna say that, even if it cuts out the drive train, u-joints and wheel bearings get more wear. Anyone saying it doesn't add wear to those or "less than driving" both are rolling down the road exactly the same wether driven or towed. Edit: typo add not ad

Chrysler wheel bearings are great. Mine have taken a beating and are still original with 150K on them. Been jumped a few times..

@@ryannance9673 you gotta think about it backwards, the input is on the axles, which in turn spins the driveshaft, which in turn spins the transfer case (which is in neutral) which is then connected to the transmission. But since the transfer case isn't spinning neither is the transmission.

Trailer = no passive odometer manipulation and worn parts. Funny this video is posted at a time when odometer fraud is on the rise.

In this particular case, easier does mean better. 😀. Why bother with a trailer when Jeep fully supports and designed this vehicle to be flat towed? Yes, it wears the Jeep, but we do not want to have to deal with unloading, storing, maintaining a trailer. It’s much more convenient. 😀

The engine and the transmission do not rotate when towing like this. also there is minimal wear on the suspension parts in this configuration.

The only thing that rotates is the tires everything else doesn't move

Why tf would that be required? As long as the transfer case is in neutral the drivetrains disconnected from the engine anyways, imagine every time you rock up and go to leave with your car you have to put the driveshafts back in and out... This isn't a truck you easily remove em on

No bearing cost thousands and the jeep will spend weeks in the shop. Better to trailer it.

But on everything else wich is still just as bad because what about the diffs the bearings thats still milage

It don’t matter if your transfer case is in neutral, you need to have your transmission in neutral because if you hit a bump that transfer case could actually shift out of neutral and into a gear a lot of people don’t know that because it happened to someone that I know it destroyed their whole transmission not to mention their parking gear that rust on your gears for it to stop rolling on the hill Put your vehicles in neutral and if you don’t then good luck fixing a brand new vehicle you’re gonna basically spend as much as a brand new vehicle just to get a new transmission and possibly many other new parts for that vehicle think smart not fast.

The jeep wheels follow the RV. They turn in the direction of travel. Like most modern vehicles they have enough caster built in to the alignment- making them want to track in a straight line, but obviously capable of turning.

@@fuelyourwander what’s best is a trailer where nothing on the Jeep is rotating at highway speeds. But yes IF you’re going to flat tow I’m sure the manufacturer knows the best way to flat tow it.

@@joshuadavis1547 You still have wear on the trailer. You have an up front cost of trailer. Then the loss of fuel mileage from the extra weight, which also adds wear to the RV. All that adds up to a higher cost then flat towing.

@@wantblackwolf what you missed is the mileage on the Jeeps odometer isn’t a true reflection of what the mileage on all the parts that are still rotating on the Jeep when being flat towed. So if I were to purchase that Jeep after them I would not be able to tell by looking at the odometer that I need to be either inspecting or servicing critical drivetrain components

@@joshuadavis1547 So you want them to spend more money to give you a better Jeep. The engine and trans mileage is the only thing that matters. I don't buy used and expect the wear parts to be not worn. It takes very little time to put a jack under the axle and raise so you can shake/spin the wheel to see what is bad. You are suppose to do an inspection before you buy a vehicle, it's not hard to spot worn parts. I always talk them down. It would cost me less than $500 to replace the worst parts in my own garage. And I always give myself $1000 budget over the sell price for this. If you can't work on it yourself you shouldn't buy used from a private seller.

The transmission does not move in park- it prevents any spinning and heating up while not being cooled. It’s recommended by Jeep to flat tow this way. Transfer case in neutral, trans in park 👍

We use the Blue OX tow bar system. We have used it on all of our RVs. The price varies depending on what you need (weight, type of vehicle, etc).

@@fuelyourwander putting the transfer case into neutral may allow the front tires to move but it has got nothing to do at all with the back tires once that transmission is in lock or Park whatever you want to call it them back tires are not going to move unless you take the drive shaft out

Well, we have towed it 10k miles this way with no issues. And fyi, transfer case is behind the transmission. So when the transfer case is in neutral it isolate all 4 wheels from the transmission. 😀

We use both the jeep and RV taillights, blinkers and brake lights. 😀

The front tires in the jeep turn when we turn the RV, so they do not take any more force than when you drive the Jeep normally. 😀

Transfer cases do not have pumps and are only lubricated by the gear oil in the sump being picked up by spinning shafts and gears. How would this put any wear on the transfer case? 😀

The transmission is not spinning because its in park and the transfer case is in neutral.

@Fuel Your Wander I know that the transfer case is in neutral but the rear differential still spins and therefore spins the drive shaft since the jeep is rear wheel drive if it's not in 4 wheel drive unless putting the transfer case in neutral just puts everything in neutral

The transfer case in neutral isolates everything else from the spinning driveshaft. So only the driveshafts and diffs spin.

Trailer is a big hassle. Flat-towing is far easier and worth the additional wear and tear on the vehicle. 😀

@@fuelyourwander differential may not have a pump, but transfer case has one..... And operating a diff in Coast can and will cause excessive wear on the gears..... And possibly the locker/ posi unit as they are designed to operate a certain way...... Best way is to drop the driveshaft

Automatic transmissions require the engine to be running to turn the pump to keep the moving parts properly lubricated. Keeping the trans in park ensures nothing in the transmission is rotating - potentially un-lubricated.

It follows the line of the RV.

The RV itself has a speed limiter of 76MPH. We typically keep the speed to below 70-72MPH which improves mileage and feels more safe. 😀
