Pay them well enough, and they will come. The problem with many institutions is that because of austerity, they have been choked for the past 15 years.
@hawks9142

Because they're surrounded by a culture that allows those interests. Most young kids are interested in making things, that goes away though when you are constantly told that you need a real job

The French know what they are doing when it comes to Design, pushing young ones, other countries you have older people that sort of gatekeep and have huge egos... I've done a school of Design in South of France and it was fierce the teachers I got, you have to try your absolute best or you get roasted. idk about other countries but a degree in design yet alone being the best student in the class is no joke.

When you see something truly beautiful as a child can motivate many people to go down that path. I know for I was the same.

This is something I find the French to be particulary good at: creating works that not only are functional, but beautiful. I wish that more care was taken in today's day and age to make buildings and furniture that are worth preserving for the future. More columns, more arches, more inlay, more scrollwork, more laquer, I say!

@@rings22the first thing I noticed was how the camera framed the scene of the interview. The camera was directly in front of the interviewers and interviewee, swapping between perspectives as they took turns speaking. Second and most obvious motif was at around 3:40 when it showcased the workers doing their work, and they all pause and look up at the camera with a plain expression. There was also a lot of front facing, symmetrical shots of furniture. Wes Anderson does that in almost all of his movies.
