You should let Jayden have the theatre room and have your hubby put some nice doors on it. I’m sure she’d love it. Plus, she’d love the privacy. Especially when she stars college and having friends over. She is a young woman

When I started decluttering and organizing and found I had more quilts and blankets than storage space I wanted to use, I got some space saver bags from Walmart (the kind you vacuum air out to flatten them) and they’re amazing. Some even come in a set with a “tote” to keep 3-4 bags in a condensed space. You may find you don’t need as many blankets in Florida, but even if each bedroom had one or two extras (even stored under the beds)it might free up valuable shelf space.

Keep the sink rack. If you ever hand wash dishes, it allows water to flow under dishpan and draining dishes. Also keeps pans from scratching up the sink. You’re making great progress everyday! Thanks for sharing with us!

Get yourself extra large vacuum sealed bags for your blanket storage saves a lot of space to store

Be really really really careful about leaving food out because I used to live in Florida and there are some big cockroaches there. We only had a problem when living in a duplex though. You motivate me! God Bless!

An idea to store extra bedding. If you have bigger bedrooms now get flat top chests for the bedrooms and either put under a window or in front of the beds and store blankets, bedding etc in them. It frees up much need closet space and they also create and extra seating area in each bedroom.

Amy that bench you have would be nice at the foot of your bed and you can keep a sheet set and blankets in it plus it’s a go place to sit when putting your socks on lol

Hi Amy, I just wanted to let you know that a wind sound is coming across/ muffled sound at the beginning.

I felt the urge to move several years ago and tried to persuade my husband the time was right. He wouldn’t budge. Now he realises we should have moved when we did, but we are stuck here for the next three years. I envy all who have moved, and more if they have a pool like you do! I think my husband feels guilty enough to buy an endless pool in our back garden but I don’t like taking advantage of anyone who is feeling vulnerable! Blessed are those who have moved and/or love their homes. I’ll get there eventually!

Just a thought…maybe you could keep the hydro flasks and some cups/glasses in the butlers pantry as then kids can get water or drinks easily without having to come right into the kitchen. Likewise keep snack food and some silverware in BP too. Much easier than having kids in and out of the kitchen especially if you’re cooking. I second the space saver bags for your blankets or keep them in game room closet for movie nights and sleepovers if you don’t have a specific linen closet. Kids can keep spare clean sheets/ pillows in top of their closets or a trunk at the end of their bed. Love watching all your progress. Would love to see kids room setups but understand if you don’t.

My husband just started warring flip flops at 76 he is loving them. 🤣

Amy here's an idea for that smaller shelf on the door of the fridge: you could keep all of those little packaged condiments (mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, maple syrup, soy sauce etc..) that people tend to accumulate when they eat out at fast food places. Or juice boxes/apple sauce/fruit cups maybe would fit in there?

Your white tv stand in the kitchen, use that for a coffee station and that will clear your counter and move coffee and coffee cups over there too. Frees you up a cupboard and glasses can move back and spices can go beside your fridge.

I was thinking.. I would move your spices to the cabinet in the kitchen. Move your storage containers to the butler's pantry. You are doing an amazing job!! I saw someone buy a large rolling mesh cart for all pool toys. Hooks mounted outside for towels. Yes, keep your rack in your sink! I would move your toaster and coffee maker into your butler pantry. keep your counters near the stove and sink clear! Just my opinion!

Good choice for extra Toiletries & Cleaners. Toilet paper on the Top shelf. I keep mine there still in the wrapping so I can just haul a packet down. Paper Towels too & Tissues too. If you run out of room for cleaners I store my extras on shelves in the garage. If you bag the blankets they’ll be fine in the top of wardrobe. The game room is a great short term option since you may be donating some of them.

My girlfriend hung hooks on her fence to hang all of towels to dry. Works a great and she found a waterproof large rug to put down in the house - when everyone goes in and out to the bathroom - the floor gets so wet

The house is coming along so nicely!!! Once you are all lived in you'll figure out what works. We had that Samsung fridge for 2 weeks and returned it. Just didn't have luck so early on and a friend showed me a Facebook group about the fridges and so many had the same issues for longer even after someone came to fix it. It was in the return window and we decided to return it and got a different brand. Lowes was very accommodating.

Hi Amy, your new home is so beautiful. Don’t be alarmed if your washing machine comes on by itself. That brand is notorious for that. Google it and it tells you how to fix. Mine did it the morning after my husband died. I had fussed at him a week or so before for washing my underware with dish towels. I called the store and told them to come get it that it was haunted. I didn’t know that it wasn’t unusual for that to happen. Lol

Nice home and lots and lots of work done! I was thinking if you place the coffee bar cabinet under the shelves and turn that area into a coffee bar nook. You can use the shelves to store mugs, coffee canisters etc. etc. wish you and your family all the best in your new home and neighborhood. God bless you all!

Hey, I have a rack in the bottom of my sink and I love it. It helps to keep the thing from getting scratched it keeps the dishes up off of the floor so it can drain easier and it's easy to clean with just some hot soapy water in the brush

Amy, I took my wire out of my sink and found one on Amazon that is Silicone. I rinse a lot to but the silicone one I just roll into thirds and put it over my dishes on the top shelf on my dishwasher pretty much daily and it really cleans the grease and grime!! They are not at all expensive. The rack has used so don’t throw it away!! BTW, Congrats on the move!

We have hung Command strips in out shower wall and hand our wet suits in there to dry. They have waterproof ones, we have used regular and they have lasted years.

I had a fridge like that and I couldn’t stand trying find things in the bottom freezer, plus it was later a recall on Hisense, I gladly went and got a side by side refrigerator and I’m able to see what each self has.

I would use the theatre room as a kids hang out room/homeschhol work room. You had an extra couch and wall unit etc and could put desks along one wall

Wow your bedroom closet is so nice, love the drawers and how it is laid out. Could you fit some nice wicker baskets on the very top shelf and put your extra blankets in them. Your bedroom is very spacious, can your office fit in there? Then you won’t have to be upstairs working, but closer to kitchen,etc. if you need to keep an eye on things and do some office work as well.😊

Amy I love that you have shared this journey with all of us. For these younger kiddos moving out on their own they have no idea. The struggle is real as to what items go in what cabinet. Like silverware or cups being close to the sink. You all are doing a great job. Slowly but surely you are making this house your home. ❤

We don't have a pool anymore. But we used to hang them up in the bathroom on hangers. Then once dry, just fold up & put in 1 place. Or hang over the back o the patio chairs. Don't take more then maybe 30 minutes to dry.

That refrigerator would be a positive NO GO, for me. Call them to return it and pick up another model. That will not wear well with all the use your family will give it. This time, don't go along, speak up.😊

A bit of extra work to have to remove every time to clean sink but, it protects both the sink and your dishes. For all your blankets consider vacuum storage bags. Yes, here for the journey no matter what that may be! I understand the frustration of your kitchen. We've been in our house almost five years, and I still don't feel like I have it the way I want it yet! lol That actually one of my summer projects is to try to get things in there more organized and functional. I didn't think I would like the rack in my sink either, but I actually do find it useful. As already mentioned, it helps keep the sink from getting scratched and chipped. I do end up having to wash/scrub it occasionally, but usually just rinsing it takes care of the mess for us.

My husband and I have an excessive amount of blankets too. If you have room, you could put them in some nicer looking storage bins. We stuck ours in totes to keep them clean and stored them in our attic.

Keep the rack! If not your sink will get scratched. You can get a thing at Walmart that holds several mops and brooms I think it might be made by command. I have one and I love it. It holds like five different things. Also, can’t you store some of that toilet paper and stuff like that in each bathroom? I would have called Lowe’s and made them send someone out and make the refrigerator right. Get Brooklyn in there to decorate! She is so good at it!

I have a metal rack in the bottom of my sink. It does protect the sink. I just pull it up after dishes and give the sink a good wipe down. We do have a garbage disposal though.
