I couldn't stand for it to stay sealed a minute longer!! I don't think it is too bad of a kit.

Revell kits were way ahead of their time in the early 60's. You spend most of your time cleaning the small detail parts, ejector marks and flash. When you get to the doors, take off the round projections used for hinge location. Once they're nice and flat, drill them to accept pins, and you can align top and bottom together before gluing. That was the SWC Swindler in it's pre-hemi days. Fred Stone was giving it the full interior treatment, even the full tuck and roll roll bar cover. Search for articles, and you'll see quite a story about Fred and Leonard, two successful black men campaigning the top gasser in the country. Revell's box art only pictured the driver, Doug Cook. Things were not too advanced in civil rights those days, now we can learn a lot from them.

I believe this kit came out about 1964. My friend built the second reissue when it was the Stone, Woods and Cook around 68. Typical old Revell kit with the windows that need to be cut out. This Willy's kit looks good. Great price. I've seen many of these kits at shows over the years. Thanks for sharing Matt. Enjoy your weekend.

I had the Willys and Orange Crate when I was a teen. Around 1967. They were about $2.00. I painted the Willys yellow in my bedroom. That didn’t go over too well.🤣 thanks for the memories Matt👏👏👍. I think it was the same Willys. I don’t remember the doors opening but it’s been a few years 😁

I have a Revelle model that is dated for 2011. Still in the box. Never taken out of the plastic bags in the box. It's a two - in - one . An either or kind of model. It's a "67" Chevy Chevelle. I think i paid $20 for it off of Amazon in 2015.

They have repoped this Stone Woods Cook kit a number of times. This version uses the older 'Blue Car' grille. The newer 'Black Car' has a different grille and probably a few other changes. Still very popular.

The modern kit I got had a beautiful photo etched grill. I ended up painting it metallic red and painted a huge Maltese cross on the door. Also ran the slot mags on a lil red express, so I used skinny and fat cragars

Thanks for sharing Matthew! Those kits were notorious for having an extreme amount of flash. Before taking parts off the sprue you had to check the instructions to make sure you didn't cut or break a part you needed. Fit was also an issue on these kits. I guess these kits taught me how to scratch build parts. Time consuming but very cool when completed. 👍👍

In terms of the parts this kit looks very intricate. If you build it I'm sure it will be a bit challenging. And I always liked those old model kit boxes that showed other models in a particular range. That particular Street Demons series had some interesting subjects - I wonder how many of them have been rereleased in different versions since the early 1980s?

I always cut the botttom plastic on my kits 3 cuts fold the flap in box top that way all of the sides still have plastic on them to protect the box top it is a good practice keeps the top clean😊

A couple of years ago I opened up a sealed kit that I purchased back in the early 1970's. It is a "1901 de Dion Bouton" made by Entex. Even though it was factory sealed the sprue with the main body parts was missing. I will have to hand make the body. Over the years I have purchased models with missing parts but only one other time a missing body and it was the Bre Datsun 240z. Anymore, even though I am not planning to build right away, I have learned to open up the kit and inspect for missing or damaged parts so I might be able to return it.

"Back in 82 I could throw a pig skin a quarter mile"!!!😂 That is definitely a re-pop of the Stone, Woods and Cook kit, I have one that is not built and still in the box. My SW&C Willys is molded in a darker blue. If you look up pictures of the actual car "Swindler II" the inside of the car had a custom finished look like a show car, hence the padded cover over the roll bar. Cool kit.

It's a Oldsmobile engine . Very popular in the 50s and 60s. Hydrostatic transmission. Later they upgraded to the Hemi with a Torkflight.

Cool kit, I looked at the Willy's kits before but got some history with one. From the 60's to early 80's there was Sneaky Pete's Speed Shop in Eleanor, WV that had a '40 Willys drag car. " Fuzz Duster", he ran it for 20-25 yrs. I worked there in late '70s fun times So now since I'm inspired again gonna have to build a tribute to it. Don't usually watch unboxing vids but you always makes them interesting and fun . Thanks for the vid

That is a rendering of Stone Woods & Cook's first Gasser . They built two cars actually. This car was powered by a Oldsmobile engine. The second ( Black car ) was built later around 64. It had a early 426 Hemi.

There is 3 different Willys kits and I think you were getting confused between the 3. This one is the original Stone Wiods and Cook Gasser car, which Gassers were just hot street cars at the beginning so seeing full/custom upholstery and non straight axles trips up many. There is a newer Revell Willys (street machine/pro street) with a Hemi which everyone says is a great kit. And then there's the AMT Willys which has the more "common" gasser features of the flip nose and straight axle. I think this version builds up to the best version (if done well/take your time) many of these old kits are "delicate" because they're generally closer to scale, obviously some is "bad" because of antiquated technology too.

The flip nose is a amt kit. This kit is from 1963 i think,it has a lot of little fidelity parts and fit issues gaps, pretty much like the Henry j and anglia, all of those kits with opening everything, i like all those kits they have cool little detail stuff you don't see in later kits shure theres probably, just think if they retooled one of those kits

It is a stone woods&cook model reboxed, I had that model which was rebox with original 60's style, never got to build it I traded it with 3 other models for a monogram 1932 ford roadster 1/8 scale unstarted but without original box. And no, this model is not with flipnose, it's the 41'pickup that has the flip

The SWC Willis was a not just built for GO. It was beautifully painted and the original lettering was hand painted by Ed Roth. The interior was a fully finished tuck and roll I think by Tony Nancy. That's why they have the filler for the roll bar fully appolstered. It was a classy ride as well as a successful race car.

Yep, it's the Stone, Woods & Cook Swindler II from the everything opens/nothing closes era of Revell kits. I built the Demons version when it was new and remember it being fiddly but decent.

I built the original issue of this kit about 1964 (I was 8 yrs old). It was the Revell Stone Woods and Cook drag car. The original had engine and chassis parts molded in black. The rest was molded in a metallic light blue. Also, the chrome nose piece for the hood had "AMERICAR" lettering embossed on it. Id like to know if anyone out there has an original kit from 1963. Take a look at that nose piece to let me know. The re issue kits are molded in one color and dont have the lettered nose piece.

Ah yes, remember this kit very well, remember a friend getting this with the same Street Demons boxart early in 1985,so it was from either 1982 or 1983 then this particular release?,it sure does all look abit rough & nasty by today's standards don't it?,I'd say it would have been from the '60's originally yeah?,ok if you're up for a challenge I guess matt, like that Monogram 1940 ford pickup which I still have, lol?,cheers
