I so agree with your point at 19:18 that was my exact goal on this solo! 33:40 "Progressive Heaven" 😂 51:18 No it's actually full legato 😅 That was such a fun to watch video man! Chris for president!

Fun fact In-game, the path Om Mani Padme Hum plays in takes place in 3 consecutive stages. It starts with 3, then 2, then 1. 1 being the theme of the dlc’s final boss. This entire ost also heavily uses or at least includes a leitmotif from a song in the previous dlc- *A Placid Island of Ignorance*

i was really curious why part 1 was more climactic and intense than the other 2 parts before the dlc came out and it clicked and i was just blown away.

Will admit, one of the OST called "I Should Build A Man A Statue" it was made by Stavros Markonis, but co-produced by Chris still

Few of titles meanings: 1. A Tempestuous Noise of Thunder and Lightning Heard - Stage direction from Shakespeare's The Tempest 2. Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ, part I (also part II and III) - "Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ" is one of the most popular Sanskrit mantra's in the world. Literally can be expressed as "praise to the jewel in the lotus", but actually it's used in absolutely different interpritations. Oftenly describes wiseness and clearness of Buddha's mind 3. 屋根の漏り (Yane No Mori) - The part of haiku written by Matsuo Basho. Literally translates as "The leaking roof" 4. Tlālōcān - Name of Aztec's paradise, ruled by rain god Tlāloc. It's a place for those, who passed away due to the drowning or lightning (in one word - storm) 5. I Should Build the Man a Statue - Doesn't have any second layer with cool meanings. It's just a good song name Edit: Apparently The Man from this track's name no one else but Chris himself. Thank you, Artificer in the comment section 6. Forgot the Cry of Gulls - Comes from the poem "The Waste Land" written by Thomas Stearns Eliot 7. (The Song of Life) - Reference to one of the previous Chris' tracks A Glacier Eventually Farts (And Don't You Listen To The Song of Life) (Which, in the first place, is the quote of Werner Herzog) 8. It Can't Rain All the Time - The quote from film The Crow spoken by Brandon Lee's character Conclussion: Chris is incredibly smart guy who knows a lot not only about the music but also literature, cinema and different cultures. Truly the man that deserves to be an example for many of us (Also funny deataile, but in the game itself all Om Mani Padme Hum parts go in the opposite order. Starting of part III and ending in part I)
@garnetrulz859
@garnetrulz859 22 дня назад
Actually, Stavros said that the Man is Chris himself. He named the title after him.

24:46 I HIGHLY encourage you to listen to the full OSTs for Risk of Rain 1 and 2 if you haven't already. This song is technically a "part 3" of Double F**king Rainbow from the first games OST, with part 2 being Bigger Ukelele. Which I loved your reaction vid to as well 😁 Chris is amazing at lacing motifs from other tracks into each other, and this DLC album is FULL of them.

this OST is probably the strongest release Chris has put together to date - i too am extremely disappointed that it hasn’t gotten more attention yet. btw, given how much you dug “Tlālōcān”, i strongly recommend the work of the French progressive rock band Magma, especially the track “De Futura”, to which it is a pretty clear tribute. if you’re not aware of them, they’re one of the most indescribable bands ever; they sing most of their music in an invented language called Kobaïan that has elements of Slavonic and Germanic languages, and most of their music is based on a space opera about some ecological catastrophe in humanity’s future. in fact, Chris is one of only two artists i’ve ever heard get close to Magma’s sound, other than Magma alumni - the Japanese band Kōenji Hyakkei is the other. it makes sense that the composer of some of the most alien-sounding game music i’ve ever heard would eventually write a tribute to one of the most alien-sounding rock bands in history, and it’s a testament to his skill as a composer and arranger that he got so close to their sound. if you enjoy “De Futura” - and i have no doubt that you will - you’ll probably also enjoy the Theusz Haamtaahk trilogy (which includes Ẁurdah Ïtah and Mekanïk Destruktïẁ Kommandöh as its second and third entries), the Köhntarkösz trilogy (also including K.A. and Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré - the chronology of this one is nonlinear), Félicité Thösz, Live/Hhaï, Zëss… there’s a wealth of great music from these French oddballs. anyway, i figured i’d mention that because you said it was your favorite song to that point in the OST, and i figured you’d love to hear one of its clear inspirations. hope you enjoy it!

57:20 actually, that synth was the one in the solo of OMPH, part I. It might not have had the same distortions exactly, but i guarantee you it was that synth. Its a signature of the franchise, just like those 4 notes that rang out at the very end.

Tlālōcān is basically a remake of Double Fυ¢κ¡ng Rainbow from the first game which gets referenced in all the final boss tracks such as "You're gonna need a bigger ukulele" and "the face of the deep" (despite this just being a teleporter event song)

The DLC itself isn't really bad, but the issues that came to the base game in the same update were real bad. It's significantly fixed now, and the only real issue with the DLC itself is the regional pricing (i.e. in certain countries, the DLC cost is insane for wages in that country)
