In a big boost to Slovakia's defence, the Patriot air defence system has arrived in Slovakia amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. Slovakia has also offered to send its older S-300 system to Ukraine.

@@TheBandit7613 Lol Mike Pompeo had openly said three year ago that they do want India to use us made air defense techs and is keeping an eye on ongoing Russian S-400 deal. Still India didn't choose patriot missile system simply because it's not much effective as compared to s -400 . S 400 is undoubtedly the most effective air defense system nothing wrong in admitting that USA still have more edge over Russia with it's huge economy.

They need Russian agreement to sell it or gift it to Ukraine. It’s one thing to smuggle in small atlas but s300 is massive and Russia will see it and then you can kiss it goodbye. Also the longer west supports Ukraine with arms the more of Ukraine will be in ruin.

Most advanced weaponry have kill switch incase it fall into the enemy hand. Not to mention the software that is used on those weapon most likely need a Russian to operate it and even then i highly doubt it works against Russian since they gonna register it as friendly aircraft or missile. So i dont see the point of using this

@@rbg75 Slowakia wants the Patriot that the point. The MiG 29 fiasko was a humiliation for Poland, but atleast the slowaks seemed to pull their little scheme off. Its actually quite hard for those countries to get US weapons esp. Patriots. They had to dismantle their massive military upon joing NATO.

THAAD has mach 8+ speed which is hypersonic. Aegis SM3 has mach 16-18 speed which is hypersonic. Stunner for Poland's Patriot 3 has nearly mach 10 speed which is hypersonic SM6 Block 1B has SM3 booster which is hypersonic.

The US really needs to talk to the Eastern NATO members about the importance of not revealing your armaments to the world. Especially if you want to smuggle some of the weapons systems you're replacing to Ukraine. The advantage of giving Ukrainians systems they already use, in addition to not needing to train their soldiers in an unfamiliar system, is that the Russians won't know for sure whether the weapons are Ukrainian or came from elsewhere, and so you can deny having ever sent any. That is unless you tell the entire world before the deal is even approved, like with the Polish fighter jet deal that had to be cancelled.

Slovakia is not giving up its current defence system s300 to Ukraine as it is the only defence system we posses and know how to operate it. Slovak minister of defence has already made that statement. The idea of having new defence technology was discussed long before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Ukrainian S-300's have worked, but Russia knows those systems very well, knows how to defeat them. Ukraine no longer has an air defense network, just individual units operating independently (with much help from NATO AWACS), so its a mess. Another, single S-300 is just symbolic. (And who knows if this one even still works.) If Russian Intel is good, it won't make it much past the border. I wouldn't volunteer to be the delivery guy.

Patriot is great read the comment below. but s-300 on paper has a greater range and varying missiles for BVR and point defense. not only that, is a complex system requiring multiple other vehicles such as radars, command centers, etc.. and the russians often use inflatable trucks etc to add to the confusion since if an aircraft actually gets a chance to destroy something in its network, its more likely to not take out anything vital enough to prevent the attackers destruction afterwards. just a reminder that when australian aircraft bombed syrian government forces, which also killed russian troops. the same day they turned on their s400s and israeli fighters would immediately be targeted/locked on when taking off from their bases

@@crumcon ah bruh im not downplaying the patriot. if you think about it, its probably the best missile point defense you can get from the U.S, even though i stated above the s- series strengths.. it can also be its weakness.. making it more complex means more links in a chain that can be broken. naturally its great to detach your radar systems from the actual launcher because of radar seeking missiles. but the s- series in soviet times was already using data linking before it was cool with now modern fighter aircraft. either way both systems are deadly. patriot is way more battle tested though

When russia sold the S300 systems, the buyers signed an end user agreement that allows only the original purchaser to use the system. The audacity to even think, they could give russian weapons to fight against russians is beyond believe.

The question is If NATO has officially joined the war let us know cause they are already participating economically ,militarily by recruiting tens of thousands of mercenaries and setting up private securiry forces and councilor. arming the Ukraine.
