Episode 36 - Episode 42 Notes: (Part 1.) The Battle of Badr The Patrol of Zul Al-Ushairah set up this Battle. The Prophet SAW sent out scouts to see how far Abu Sufyan’s caravan was from Medina. The scouts reported back in Ramadan, that the caravan consisted of 1000 camels and that it was just passing by Medina. The Prophet SAW immediately told his companions RA to get their weapons and to come with him. This was supposed to be a quick snatching of 1000 camels for the Muslims from the Quraysh. The caravan only had 40 guards and the Muslims thus were only 313, as that is more than enough to overpower the guards. This was not supposed to be a large scale battle but rather a simple raid, which is why the Muslims were not properly geared up for war. But, Abu Sufyan had realized that he was being watched and thus sent a crier to Makkah, informing them to mobilize an army immediately. This crier reached Makkah before the Prophet SAW had heard back from his scouts. The Quraysh held a meeting and then mobilized an army within 1 day to confront the supposed, attacking Muslim army. Thus the Qurayshi army of 1300 left Makkah and marched for Badr. Enroute they met Iblis in the form of Suraqah Ibn Malik who reassured them, that they would win and even marched with them to Badr. Abu Jahal was the undisputed leader of the army. The Qurayshi army brought with them Qiyan, who were there to increase the armies morale. Shortly after the army set off from Makkah, Abu Sufyan had managed to get clear of the Muslim army and once he saw that the caravan was safe. He sent another emissary to inform the army to head back to Makkah. He did this because he just wanted protection for the caravan and not actual war. The emissary told the Qurayshi army what Abu Sufyan had said. This caused various sub tribes to head back to Makkah which in total dropped the size of the army by 300. However, Abu Jahal was adamant to show Arabia the might of the Quraysh, thus he decided to march the remaining 1000 men to the plains of Badr. The Muslims enroute to Badr begun hearing news about a Qurayshi army marching to fight the Muslims. This was later confirmed and some of the Sahabah were very hesitant about meeting the Qurayshi army in battle. Thus the Prophet SAW did Shura and asked the Muhajirun and Ansar for their opinion on having a battle. Both parties agreed to follow the Prophet SAW into battle. The Prophet SAW then divided the army into 3 flanks. The Muhajirun led by Ali RA, the Ansar led by Sa’id Ibn Mu’adh RA and the central flank was led by the Prophet SAW. The companions then made a command HQ at Badr, for the Prophet SAW to observe the battle from and then the companions went to sleep. During the night, the Qurayshi army arrived at Badr. The Prophet SAW stayed awake and made intense dua to Allah SWT, pleading for his assistance. The next morning on the 17th Ramadan 2AH, the Prophet SAW began organising the Muslim army into battalions. The Muslim army then came into full view of the Qurayshi army, on the fields of Badr. Meanwhile, the Prophet SAW continued pleading with Allah SWT for his assistance. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah. Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

Provide us with deep understanding, free us from debt and cleanse our sustenance by supplying us with the highest of halal opportunities in all their forms. Do not deprive us from fulfilling all 5 pillars during our life time nor from visiting Your Holy Lands, and gift us with the priviledge of enjoying the end of our days in the one You choose for us. Oh Allah Azzawajjal free Your creation from all forms of suffering, lead us into tawba and the wisdom of asking for forgiveness and the nobility of forgiving. Oh Al Aziz, return Your Masjids to Your rightful servants, and protect our ulamah by keeping their teachings alive and having their students apply what Your Quran and our Nabi's Sunnah have established. Elevate our status and purify our past, our present and our future... and grant us victory on that Day. We beg you Allah Ghafur AlRaheem for forgiveness for our sins... wipe our accounts clean to recieve our book on our right hand and allow us to be from among Your pious allies. Oh Allah we seek refuge in Your perfect words from every fitnah, and every form of evil You have created... every devil, every vermin, every illness and protect our Ummah from Shaytaan and his agenda against humanity at large. Allahuakbar! Please purify, strengthen and unite the Muslim Family in ways thay exceed our expectations and envelope our hearts and souls. Save us from the punishment of the grave and make Jahanam Haram for us at all times. Grant us a blessed death upon being submitted to You, after uttering the most sincere 'la ilaha il Allah' , and aid us in answering the 3 questions that define our destiny. Unite us with those whom you love most upon the resurection and enter us into every level of Jannah until we are able to finally enjoy Al Firdeous, closest to Your Glorious presence and Your eternal Company. Amin, amin ya Rabbi Alameen.
