Seerah of Prophet Muhammed 37 - The Battle of Badr 2 - Yasir Qadhi | 17th October 2012

Whenever I see people criticizing sheikh Yasir qhadi I became so depress that only Allah knows..... Indeed!! you are unique and gifted in knowledge

With all due to respect to the Christians who are posting ignorance of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). Know that your animosity towards him was not reciprocated when he lived; he elevated the Ahlal Kitab (People Of The Book) within Daral Islam (The Islamic lands) - gave your people the rights to rule by your own scriptures and courts, an opportunity not afforded to anyone living in the West. The Quran and Sunnah teach us that Muslims are most close to Christians after themselves and within you we find a natural ally. We may have our differences (we for example believe that the belief in the Trinity goes against one of the universal laws of logic which is the Law Of Non-contradiction as one cannot be three and three cannot be one simultaneously and verily our Lord operates upon that which is logical otherwise he would not have given us logic), but let us come to common terms and unite upon similarities.

The speech of saad in Arabic incase anyone is interested: فقد آمنا بك، فصدقناك، وشهدنا أن ما جئت به هو الحق، وأعطيناك على ذلك عهودنا ومواثيقنا على السمع والطاعة، فامض يا رسول الله لما أردت فو الذي بعثك بالحق لو استعرضت بنا هذا البحر فخضته لخضناه معك، ما تخلف منا رجل واحد، وما نكره أن تلقى بنا عدوًّا غدًا إنا لصبر في الحرب، صدق في اللقاء، ولعل الله يريك منا ما تقر به عينك، فسر بنا على بركة الله

SubhanAllah. When you hear the sequence of events along with the Quran you feel like you are physically experiencing it. Shaykh Yaseer Qadhi has done an excellent job. Allahu Akbar.

SubhanAllah every time I hear the stories of Mecca and the Quraysh I always feel the intensity.

Episode 36 - Episode 42 (Part 2) (Started on Ep36) Mean whilst in the Qurayshi camp, Abu Jahal sent out a scout to see how large the Muslim army is. At the same time, Utbah tried to stop the battle. But, Abu Jahal taunted him for being a coward, which enraged Utbah who then marched with his son and brother to engage the Muslims in the pre battle duels. Abu Jahal then lined up the Qurayshi army and made a dua to Allah SWT, asking for the wrongdoing side amongst the two armies to be destroyed. Utbah and the other two then faced Hamza, Ali and Ubaydah RA in the Mubarazzah’s. Hamza and Ali RA quickly killed their opponents, but Ubaydah RA was seriously injured and thus Utbah was killed by Hamza and Ali RA. The win in the Mubarazzah’s really boosted the morale of the Muslims. The Prophet SAW then made another intense dua to Allah SWT. And Allah SWT immediately sent Wahi via Jibreel AS, informing the Prophet SAW, that Allah SWT would send 1000 Angels to come and assist the Muslims. When Iblis saw the 1000 Angels descending onto the battlefield, he fled, much to the surprise of the Quraysh. The Qurayshi army then begun charging the Muslims and the Prophet SAW then ordered the Muslims to charge. The Prophet SAW himself fought in the battle and would alternate between fighting and supplicating to Allah SWT. During the Battle, the Angels helped the Muslims and many Muslims noticed these supernatural events occurring on the battlefield. Death of Abu Jahal: During the battle, Abu Jahal was mortally wounded by two teenage Ansari boys, Muawwaz and Muaaz RA. Muaaz RA slashed off Abu Jahal’s leg and lost his arm in the process. Muawwaz RA also struck Abu Jahal but it is unknown where exactly. The Prophet SAW stated that both brothers had a role in killing Abu Jahal. But, Abu Jahal did not die from the blows and was on deaths door. Ibn Masud RA found Abu Jahal during the battle and finished him off. Umayyah Ibn Khalaf: Umayyah was captured by the Muslims during the battle and made a deal with Abdul Rahman RA, that he would give him a load of wealth if he saved him. But on the way back to the Muslim camp, Bilal RA saw Abdul Rahman RA with Ummayah as a prisoner and then along with a bunch of Ansar, killed Ummayah and his son Ali. Abdul Rahman RA tried to honour his deal with Ummayah but, Bilal RA was never going to let Ummayah walk free. Battle Outcome The Battle of Badr ended with the Quraysh fleeing back to Makkah after losing 15% of their army and their main leaders. After the Battle, the Prophet SAW announced that the Muslims will camp at Badr for 3 days. From the Muslim side, 15 Muslims were martyred and they were all buried at Badr. The dead from the Quraysh were buried in a well of Badr. The Prophet SAW then split the war booty amongst the Muslims and then decided to take all the prisoners of war back to Medina. Before the Muslims went to Medina, the Prophet SAW had two of the prisoners executed. One of whom was Uqbah who begged for his life before being killed by Ali RA. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. “The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was: ‘There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors. (Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn)’ So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.” This is the dua in Arabic: لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ Thirmidi 3505 Grade Sahih

Small correction around the 47 minute mark where Juhfah is mentioned - Sh Yasir seems to have inadvertently confused Juhfah (which is a meqat near Rabigh close to the Red Sea) with the meqat at Tan'im (Masjid 'Aaishah). Juhfah is around 180 kms from Makkah.

Since Abu Lahab died of illness shortly after Badr isn't it possible he didn't go because he was ill.

It's so weird hearing the Quraysh make dua to Allah, even if it to make victorious the more noble and honourable side.

salaam alaikum i have listened to the above lecture - my question is focused towards the end of it is it possible i can get historical/hadeeth references for the words of hazrat abu bakr and hazrat umar - what they said in response to the Prophet(pbuh) question on fighting in badr? i need to show it to some brothers of mine...

15.00: when the sheikh is explaining that the sayning fo abu bakr became an ayah. i think the sheikh made a mistake, as there is not such ayah in the quran. and the closest meaning is in surah ghafir, but man from (aali firuan) the people of firaun.
