Great video! Accurate review! I have both the TF and the Seestern. Each watch has its pros and cons. Tactical Frog: •The case thickness and shape are great. It really hugs the wrist. It is thinner than the Seestern. •I love the TF logo. •The dial has applied indices! •The handset dimensions are better imo. •I like the crown texture/style •The clasp has a double push button deployment! Seestern: • The bezels looks and functions as it should. Big + •Drilled lugs! •Bracelet has female end links! Way better. •Bracelet is a real BOR! Big + • Clasp has 4 micro adjust! Big+ •BGW style luminous material! Date wheel has the same luminous material. Very nice. •The indices are painted on. However, the luminous material is fantastic. I believe the real Doxa has painted on indices as well. •The handset is smaller than the TF. However, the black coating has a higher sheen and looks nice. Both watches fit the wrist really well and are very comfortable. Both will scratch the itch. I like the TF’s case better but I absolutely can not handle the looks of the TF’s bracelet. It would be nice to combine the best of both watches. FYI… The bracelets are not interchangeable between the two models. The spring bar holes are too far off. The spring bar holes on the TF’s case are super close to the case, which, will make fitting straps a pain. Hopefully, some of this helps. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply, and your thoughts practically mirror my own thoughts exactly! I think you’re spot on, definitely pros and cons for both watches, and like you, the perfect Doxa homage would be an amalgamation of the two. I think this will be the next video I do. Cheers for your thoughts. 👍🏻
Excellent review. I just discovered your channel while researching these watches. I like how you captured the detail of the orange dial. I was on the fence about the orange dial, thinking it was just a flat orange color, but I like the metallic depth of the color. I just ordered one. Can't wait to see it in person.
Just ordered the Seestern V2 on pre order through their site. Slimmed down thickness to 12.5mm, added lume pip, better case finishing and tighter bezel action. Sounds pretty definitive now.
I was really pleasantly surprised how accurate the NH35 was, mine seems to have settled at approx +4 seconds per day! Yes, Doxa watches are really something else. I was lucky enough to own a 600T many years ago, and it was glorious!
I think because the Tactical Frog and the Seestern are both Doxa homages, it’s definitely worthwhile comparing them, as this will be the choice for a lot of people. I was all set to review both, but then Tactical Frog have released a V2 of their Sub300, so I think it’s only fair to wait for that to arrive before comparing.
Wow, what a great looking watch, fantastic bargain too. When you see what these Chinese manufacturers can supply for peanuts, it makes buying your Seiko's etc very difficult. I recently bought a £400 Seiko (bought in the knowledge that the bracelet would need replacing cos well, it's a Seiko) compared to the Seestern you would be forgiven if you thought the prices were switched. Got to get me one of these. Great video, thanks. I've got a few Chinese made, NH35A movement pieces, all have outstanding accuracy, two manage a mere +2 secs per day and all manage within +5 secs per day, (as good as my Swiss SW200's & ETA2824-2 movements) Quite simply I think you'd be hard pressed to find better for your money.
I know exactly what you mean! I am a self confessed Seiko fanboy and collector, but their prices are increasing at such a rate that it is becoming more and more difficult to justify a purchase these days! A real shame. But some of the Chinese offerings of late are amazing value for money. These Seestern watches are fantastic.👍🏻😄
I picked up the MOP Dial and love it but I'm toying with getting the blue variant as well I'm so impressed. I got mine from Glamour Master and it actually came with a signed warranty card! Thanks for the review bud. All the best.
@@seadweller44 on a side note I bought one of those Tandorio 62 mas homages and with the exception of poor lume on the indices, although the hands are good, I'm really impressed for the money. Great finishing, excellent bezel and a lovely box sapphire crystal. Cheers!
I like the Tactical Frog better. It has applied indices as opposed to the printed ones here. The bezel issue is acceptable as I will not be diving with it. I put my TF on an orange 🍊 rubber strap and it looks really sharp. The NH35 movement is keeping great time. 👍🏻🐸🎯😷
Like I mentioned, I liked the Tactical Frog a lot! And even though both are Doxa Homages, there is quite a lot of differences between the two. I’m looking forward to making the comparison video, pros and cons on both watches.👍🏻😄🙏🏻
They must combine now the Frog and Stern and make applied indexes with proper bezel insert.Ultimate combo would be brushed/polished bezel,it could beat actual Doxa 😜
Just for your information the actual original Doxa doesn't have applied indexes. I don't know what the obsession with them is anyway they look completely cheap and tacky on the frog, printed has the vintage class.
@@mattimattwa9064 Yes I know that Doxa have printed indexes,You know hard to beat Doxas overall charm, thick printed indexes combined with the dial tone etc.But I think polished silver applied indexes in the homage can look good too, especially if they would combine it with brushed/polished bezel.
Great review and I am hearing great things about Seestern and love the look of this watch. Would you happen to have the dial measurement of the watch please? Many thanks.
Case back is stamped like a coin. Is not engraved! These are a great value watches that cost about 33% of the cost of a DOXA band alone. Seiko NH35 movement is usually more accurate and will go for longer before needing a service than an What's not to like.
Hi there - very nice review. At this price is the water resistance reliable? Hard to believe, but I'll believe if you can confirm! Also, do you know if the "pre-order" featured on their website is in fact the v2? Thanks again -
Thank you! Very kind🙏🏻 I have contacted Seestern regarding the water resistance, and they have assured me that all cases are tested for water resistance, and they will not be allowed to leave production without passing a WR test. Unfortunately, I don’t have a pressure tester to actually confirm this, but I have no reason to doubt them. As for the pre-order watches, yes, I have been told that all pre order models will come with the updated specs.
Great review Chris. I’m curious about the water integrity of this watch and I’m still waiting on a reviewer to put one in a pressure tester. Rumours abound that the watch has a mismatched case back and o ring which would cause it to flood. I have no idea if this is true but would welcome a reviewers opinion.
Thanks. Yes I have heard these rumours as well, and I did email Seestern for a response. They did respond, simply saying that all of their watch cases are tested for WR. Unfortunately, I don’t have any facilities to pressure test at the moment, but like yourself, I would be very interested to find out if this is a potential issue.
Hi Noosa, those rumors are spread by our competitors, trying to play dirty! Because our watch is quite good! :D All watches are tested for WR multiple times, which means in the manufacturing process and after the assembly. If a watch fails that test, it won't be sold.
Seestern have the new V2 Sub300 in a Limited Edition silver dial on their website. You should check it out! As for applied indices, I think they are sticking with printed for now.
I think it probably just comes down to the other colour options being more popular. Although the V1 Seestern didn’t offer a silver version, they only just released the silver option for their V2. Having said that, I actually used a silver dial Tactical Frog when I did the V1 comparison video with the Frog and the Seestern watches!😄
Thanks!🙏🏻 Yes, the bracelet on the Seestern does indeed taper from 20mm down to 18mm. I have the new Seestern model on order, so will be doing a full review when it arrives.👍🏻😄
Yes it is perfectly legal. It pays homage to another brand or model, in this case Doxa, but they have their own Seestern company name on the dial, so not illegal in the slightest. There are lots and lots of homage watch brands out there, and have been for many years. Take Steinhart for example, they have been offering Rolex homages for years and do so very well.
