Great to see you're still doing awesome things man! I bought one of your kits years back, and quite honestly that was the one that started it all. Definitely the inspiration for my hobby/career. I'm now working for a local arcade company fixing machines! Keep up the great work man!

Man now what can I thought of that a Dreamcast arcade well actually they were from the 90s but they're they're like kiosks but I miss the 90s super Epic video though 👍🤩👍👏👏👏👏👏
@RetroBuiltGames

i remember the kiosks fondly. I did a bunch of image searching to get design and color ideas from those kiosks. Thanks for the comment!

Great work, as always. Your creativity is impressive. Regarding the analog triggers, did you consider incorporating them into the control panel, or are they not used in enough games to make it worth the effort?
@RetroBuiltGames
@RetroBuiltGames 2 года назад
Thank you. I considered it, but it was a necessary sacrifice to get this project to the finish line. I tested a few games that use analog triggers, but the only noteworthy ones are Crazy Taxi and San Francisco Rush 2049. Analog triggers could be done, but I'd probably revisit this by making an analog racing wheel + foot pedals.

I've been trying to get a SNES and Genesis running off the same arcade controls but I'm having issues getting them both to work properly. The SNES control will only work if the Genesis is powered on but not all the buttons are firing. Any ideas on how to fix this?
@RetroBuiltGames
@RetroBuiltGames Год назад
sounds like you have a ground or power loop between the two systems. Focus on a method that switches between the two ; this means the controller circuits are isolated from their non-compatible system.
@DavidPalin
@DavidPalin Год назад
@@RetroBuiltGames I've been trying different ways to isolate the ground between the two PCBs but no success. I thought about isolating the power to one of the pads but I'm not sure which wire is the power. I'm very new to all this as you can probably tell.

This is freakin awesome! Fantastic work. Trying to do something similar with PS3 and Xbox 360. That analog stick is sweet, say, what size hole did you use for the 3D analog stick? is the 3d printed mounting support up for sale?

hole is 29mm (~1.125'") I am happy to share the STL file. not looking to sell 3D printed parts

Very nice build Ryan. I'm trying to do something similar but with a Dreamcast and Raspberry Pi. I'm using zero delay encoders with usb out. What would be a good switch to use?
@RetroBuiltGames

Thanks! A switch to do what function (controller or a/v)?
@vgjrockx1
@vgjrockx1 2 года назад
@@RetroBuiltGames Controller between consoles. I'm using the zero delay controllers you can find cheap on amazon connected to wingman adapter from brook accessories.
@RetroBuiltGames
@RetroBuiltGames 2 года назад
@@vgjrockx1 I'd go with the network switches. It's pretty trivial to use these by routing two paths between the button level. Dont have to worry about signal integrity or crossing wires between consoles at their proprietary controller inputs;

I dunno just build a Mister, one cabinet and have a small screen for the marquee that changes based on Mister selection. No need for 5+ cabinets

but what if you have friends over?
@mehmeh5471

@@RetroBuiltGames Two player cabinet and maybe a second cabinet. I assume you want cross play rather than individuals all antisocial on their own cabinet? If so the Mister has a network function etc
@RetroBuiltGames
@RetroBuiltGames 2 года назад
@@mehmeh5471 i think a mistercade is a cool idea. but the chip shortage makes the SOC not worth it atm and there's no way it has the ASIC headroom to support Dreamcast . . the cost of the 12:1 ratio marquee LCD is the entire build price of one of these cabinets. regardless, i think they are cool tho; will mess with one in the future.
@mehmeh5471
@mehmeh5471 2 года назад
@@RetroBuiltGames Fair enough, if you have all the tools and time etc to do it and it makes you happy go for it. I was only commenting from the avg joe practicality standpoint. I agree the lcd is the issue in that design, maybe a small low cost portable projector with a mirror setup could work but would be subpar to an lcd
