If you tap C on the controller, I think it's C anyhow, but it adds scanlines, sorry I was vage.. in the screen settings menu tap C and it SHOULD put scanlines
The Sega Mini is being Hacked, they UART'd to the Board and pretty much Dumped and De-encrypted everything, the CPU is Under-Clocked, Might be able to run it on Snes Mini, only days away from a working program
@@paul.1337 $30 would be nice but when you consider it comes with two gamepads it's not a bad deal. If you bought a Rpi with two gamepads and a case you'd spend as much. Granted the Pi3 will do a lot more.

Any recent smartphone or Raspberry Pi and Retropie. You'll have a Dreamcast mini, PlayStation mini, Gameboy Advance mini, N64 mini, Arcade mini, you name it. Off you pop.
A Dreamcast Mini could have an AWESOME lineup of unique games. I dearly love all of my DC games (except Championship Surfer and Striker soccer, but I had a friend who would literally come visit just to play Striker, soooo...). Powerstone 2 with 4 controllers, anyone? Virtua Tennis? Skies of Arcadia? I kinda want to see a Saturn too. That console was so expensive that just one kid at school had one. Other than the Panzer Dragoon series, Nights, and Virtua Fighter, I don’t really know what games it had and what were good.
well, PS Mini already been hacked and it sold for 30 bucks right now, it can run anything from Atari 2600 towards Dreamcast, even thought people hate PS Mini, it have better CPU than Genesis Mini.
The modding community made that Mini a quality product. I bought mine for $50 brand new online just because of the USB hacks. The modding community completely fixed the glaring problems from the original. Like seriously, $100 and the game selection was not only poor, but they were unplayable. Who looked at Tekken 3 and was like “Yep it is supposed to be that slow, that’s how it always was, ship it out”. ?
8:13 - Actually the Menu Music was composed by Yuzo Koshiro, who made the soundtracks to many games from the 16-Bit era such as Streets of Rage, and Super Adventure Island to name a few. Its a mash-up of some of the Genesis games included in the mini. It is also actually really catchy :)
Guardian Gibbs. Aye. It sucked out of the box. The modding community actually made it a quality product with correct region coded games, better emulator, better selection of games. Playing Crash Bandicoot and Crash Team Kart Racing In HD looks amazing and the controller is top notch.
unfortunately no, also, they picked the worst version of shining force. BUT HEY! Mega Man, Tetris and Darius! They also picked the only Streets of Rage that matters. A batman would have been nice.
Back in the day unlimited lives was concidered cheating. Infact if you beat Vectorman using a game genie it would say "NEXT TIME DONT CHEAT" instead of the ending. But with save states the game doesnt know you're cheating. Save states = infinti lives. Can you resist? hehe
Yep. And the emulation on the 2018 HD model is pretty dam solid. And each game gets 5 save states, plus it's got the original Phantasy Star and a few more Master System games and you can play carts. No bad for the company that got ousted from the mini project.
Why is it that none of these retro consoles,Sega classic games collections never including Sonic 3 and Knuckles? It literally has to be played on an Emulator. Only Sonic 3. And Sonic and Knuckles can be played separately on most consoles.
That company Sega partnered with is M2 which are known for excellent ports of older Sega games on all modern consoles/mobile devices. M2 created the emulation for this mini. AtGames were trash Also when you change the language/reign the games title and box art changes too and you can play those versions! Check it out!
U think price is high? Imagine taking this and traveling back to 1994 when kids was paying 50 dollars per game and showing them this . $2000 worth of games
Yes sir, this IS exactly how a mini console should be built & priced! SEGA not only thinking of profits but reasonable & equally entertaining quality product both the ol' faithful ones AND the new generation fans! THANKS SEGA. The GENESIS Lives!
I can't remember actually. On the Gameboy you had a punch and a kick and the strength was determined by how long you hold the button. I got that one for my oldest daughter. On the Genesis I believe you had to choose which keys you wanted. I had it but I don't think I ever played it with three buttons. It may have had some duration thing to choose, I just remember it was crap to play with three buttons.
About the price... To be fair... how much is it to get a Raspberry (I know its better than the one included in the genesis mini), plus the sega mini case, plus 2 good sega pads with same quality as the ones offered, plus... the 42 games, which you are getting included in the price legally. I really don't think the $80 are expensive at all.
Yeah but to be fair you'll get way more for your money with the Pi. Not only will it run Mega Drive stuff, but pretty much everything else you love right up to some early N64, not to mention Kodi runs on it too. My take on the new Sega mini is, it's lovely. I can totally see my mates (all in our 40s now) really going for this. Straight out of the box there is joy to be had and it's very very well done. But personally, I want a bit more than an £80 box that just runs Mega Drive games, and as such this won't be replacing my wonderful Mega Pi.
No matter what, with these mini consoles there will always be games people say "how did they not put THAT game on this!?" But seriously, How did they not put Phantasy Star 2 on here?
How dare you skip my native language! Mega Drive Mini: Italiano, Deutsch, Español ETA Prime: Italian, ..., Spanish good to know that German is not a language to you xD
I loved when you did the teardown of the last AT Games Genesis(HD) and discovered that Monkey King/Rockchip SoC. That was a funny surprise and, for me at least, was quite a memorable moment.
SEGA didn’t go with a “new company” after dropping ATGames, it’s actually built in the same factory the Dreamcast and SATURN was built - not sure if the original MD was built there also. Development was in house alongside M2 (the only external team) SEGA even brought back people from the original 80s MD team to get this right.
I don't agree with your assumption about the quality of the emulation. It sounds like a lesser quality even from the video footage as far as the audio goes the audio from Pico Drive and even Gens GX or whatever it's called but I can't remember what it's called sounds a hell of a lot better and a little more true to the hard where it came from. This thing also has a slight audio lag.
This is the only official mini console I was able to get and hold onto through all of the economic hard times and two years of long COVID this month, i’m very grateful to have the system and I picked up three of the retrobit six button controllers for it 💫🏆
If you ask your parents for a raspberry pi for Christmas they'll give you a dessert. None of these mini systems are Going to appeal to the more dedicated retro gamer but for more casual fans and kids.
Yeah alot of RU-vid critics didn't try this updated model that was quietly released it is harder to find than the 2017 model that didn't have an sd card slot.
Is this the best MINI system? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!! (A) This system has the indecency to give you 'Street Fighter" II, but NOT give you the right controllers to play it with. (B) The SNES MINI gave you SF II, and the right controllers. (C) The AT GAMES GENESIS MINI gave you TWO 6 button controllers and cartridge slot so you could play SG games from back in the day, or still hunt for them on amazon. (D) Even the AT GAMES retro system version with 50 games gives you SF II AND TWO 6 button controllers, and IS ONLY $30. I wouldn't even buy this GENESIS MINI as a gift for someone. They SHOULD have had the decency to give you TWO 6 button controllers. I will NOT waste my money on this.
Apparently, the Sega Genesis Mini is unintentionally underclocked. There was a video by Restalgia about people already trying to hack it seeing that it is underclocked from 1.5 to 1.0 GHz. So any weird lag may be from this configuration. So once someone hacks this successfully, you can probably boost it back to 1.5 GHz like people did to the PSP from 222 MHz to 333MHz.
Seriously, the NES Classic was $59.99 upon release, with 30 games, one controller and a 3ft cord. That wasn’t overpriced. You want the Genesis Mini with 42 games, two controllers with 6ft cords to be $49.99?! That’s some crack-smoking mentality there! Some people can’t grasp the value they get for their money.
No Atgames, about time, crappy sound. Far from correct anything, even Atari 2600 had issues. Glad Sega made their own. How would a Atgames SNES would have been. Mah.
That 3 button pad is a massive mistake. Why would they include Street Fighter II and pack in that hideous, bulky 3 button pad? There are even other games on there that have 6 button features. They expect people to shell out an additional $20 for a Retrobit pad when this already costs $80. This means, if you wanted this console and two 6 button pads, you'd be spending $120. Japan got the better deal on this.
just get a raspberry pi 3b, install recalbox, and put it inside a real size NES/SNES/SEGA case. you will have nes, snes, sega, ps1, gamebody, n64 etc etc into one console
Oh and yes, the TurboGrafx-16 mini is also coming out next year at $100 by Konami.... It seems every extinct company has been resurrected just to bring their classic consoles back to life in mini form! Collect them all, in 20 yrs all these mini's especially the imports will be come highly collectible and rare to find and people will pay higher prices just to own one because they were a one time hit!
As someone who got a Genesis for Christmas in 1989, the three button is home... 😍 The six button is overrated in my opinion unless you’re into fighting games. Even then the Retro-bit Saturn six button or 8BitDo M30 is better, both of which are either available for the Mini now or coming by mid October.
My Galaxy S10 and ipega Wolverine is the best Genesis mini ever. The best SNES mini ever. The best Neo Geo mini ever. The best N64 mini ever. The best PS1 mini ever. The best arcade.... you get the picture.
512mb is a lot, much more than SNES classic, should be able to hold much of the genesis library once hacked :) Will be an ideal way to play them. Note, the retro bit 6 and 8 button controllers are officially sanctioned by sega and fully compatible with this. Apparently that's why the west gets the 3 button ones but they are not that expensive to add to the system for the 6 button games. It was a silly political decision and considering it was made, should have at least stopped Sega from putting mandatory 6 button games on the collection (just an example, street fighter and eternal champions are useless with the 3 button controllers).
I wish it was at $80 where I live, here in Mexico taxes for videogames are crazy, I'm buying it at $110 and that's the cheapest thanks to some shady guy, it's usually closer to a $140 buckaroos
How do you compare it to those say owning a switch already and buying the genesis switch collection (which actually has more games but does miss the third party ones)? I am just thinking the switch has TV output but also of course handheld, and one can use the 8bitdo M30 which is very very good, and wirelessly.
I love this mini consoles. Don’t have any rational reason though. And I irrationally buy them hoping they keep making them. I think I’d stop at GameCube mini. But don’t take my word for it.
I got the Japanese version with 6 buttons Take that suckers xD No no i'm just jocking i don't waste money on these Emulator junks xD What's up with ur car how's ur car project going let's talk about that
I don't see how anyone could have expected this quality for $50, that would be a terrible move by Sega lol. Buy an atgames console if you want that price tag. I think when it comes to the classic, people wanted quality, for that, we need to pay.
Fake volume slider solid pass for me. I hate fake cheaply built crap where the manufacture has made a heap of shortcuts. No video snaps.. menu looks horrid background music sucks. Wish I had good things to say about this but I don't just holding on for the new full sized Commodorealso no streets of rage wtf were they thinking looks like they just jam packed it full of whatever crap they could get a licence for yes there are a few good games but most are missing.
Just got one of these yesterday and messed around with it quite a bit. No background music on mine! I didn’t know it was supposed to have it until I just watched this video. I just checked again today and now it’s playing the background music! Weird.
I like playing the Japanese revised Sonic and japanese contra hard corps. All you do is change the language to jpn, and use a save slot to save the jpn version. Change back to English and select the game and load the jpn save instead and now you're playing the jpn versions from the English menu by means of save slots. Not really a big deal but a tiny quality of life improvement with this cool console.
Hello guys, I bought today the mini console, but the games look very pixelated, much more than I actually remember from back in the day, it only has 2 screen options and to add CRT( I think it’s called like that) is there anything that I can do in order to make the games look better?
old thunderforce 3 code Pause the game and press up 10 times, B and then down twice. Then keep pressing B and it will add one weapon per press in order. Similarly if you don't want a weapon you can press C when it comes up in the cycle and it will remove that weapon. Pressing A will give you the side pods.
Question about the Pi. Do you think you could get the GEnesis mini layout and stuff for games on it? I’d love to make my own Genesis mini, with this interface.
So on the mini i put 4/3 aspect ratio on the system but on my tv it still gives me option to choose 16/9 or 4/3 if i pick 16/9 on tv compined with 4/3 on the systen the sega menu screen fills the whole screen and the games run smaller like 70 percent of the tv but if i put 4/3 on the tv too then the sega menu screen turns to what the game was on 16/9 like 70 percent of the screen and game goes even smaller my question is on the tv what's the right setting to get true 4by3?
My unit power switch came wobbly buy works perfectly. Plus the console wobbles a bit on a table if you touch it. Can someone confirm ifbthis is jusy the way the think is?
For some reason Sonic team and sega doesn't want to put Sonic 3 or sonic and knuckles on this thing and if they did it would be better if you could combine the two like how you could on the wii and play sonic 3 and knuckles, Srsly, do they not like this game?
Have you noticed any double inputs when pressing the directional pad mine has it and it's kind of bad making Tetris unplayable check it out let me know
I bought one, played 2 games on it! Returned it! Didnt really impress me at all! I think I'll just keep my 2018 version of the AT Games Genesis at least I can do sound updates to it, add more games through its SD card slot and it has 6 button wireless controllers. Yes the new mini is a total aesthetic version of the real thing but it's not drastically better nor worth another $80 out of my pocket. I might re buy it down the road if they are cheaper or I get a good deal on one but now I'll pass! Not as good as the Nintendo mini consoles either built- wise , seems flimsy.
Is your fake audio button slider really loose when the slider is is the lowest volume setting but tight when it's at the highest setting? Mine is kinda sloppy.
