Amazing work! Just recently discovered your channel as I'm looking to put together a Naomi netboot setup like yours. It's a bit intimidating, but gonna give it my best. Will be referencing this video as I move along. Enjoying all of your Arcade content, thank you for sharing and keep up the great work 👍
Hey, thanks a lot! It was certainly a learning experience. Definitely a lot of gotchas and I probably didn't even cover it in enough detail in this video. If you got questions, just send them this way!
@vodkagobalsky I can only imagine all of the trial and error off of the camera during your build. I greatly appreciate it, thank you for offering to help if I get stuck as I move along with this project. I'm kinda of a loaner in this Arcade hobby. Hoping to make some new Arcade bro's on this platform. I just posted a video on here of my living room Arcade setup if you're up to check it out.
I had a similar setup with the pi having a color lcd screen that shows the game preview. Took me a long time to figure out how to set it up because info was so limited. I didn’t have that much issue like you but I’m glad you’re able to figure it out. I don’t think I would had figure it out. Lol. Now I don’t even remember what I did to setup my Naomi
Glad you got your system to work! for a price comparision I have a similar setup with the Naochitri net boot and I ended up Spending around $1100.00 USD for mine to get up and running.
Yeah that sounds about right. Just looking around ebay, Naomi 2 is going for around $200 and so is the NetDimm. I probably would have never done this project if the Naomi's weren't donated to me.
Thanks for the clear closeups of the IO board!! I'm getting a Naomi universal cab with a Naomi 2 and 512 Netdimm in a couple days and i also gotta figure out a way to get my 6th button working on both sides, probably gonna have to get a new kick harness for them, definitely gotta replace all the buttons and get a new control panel as well, as the current has concave buttons and a 5 button layout (Looks like it's a modified Virtua Tennis panel) it already had everything set up with a pi but i wanted to update Piforce to 1.5, so i hope it just works as Networking isn't my strong suit lol. Also the info really is hard to find, even the roms are a real pain to locate in .bin format. If i do have trouble with the network side i'll be sure to refer to this vid! it's very clear in what you gotta do on that front which is great! Glad you got the setup working too after so much trouble! looks awesome on those Blast City's! (Seriously thank god you showed that jumper on the SEGA I/O i would have gone insane trying to figure that out)
No problem! That's why I wanted to document everything so others can find it helpful because it took me a long time of searching the forums and asking questions to figure all of this out.
Yeah my set up cost about 800 bucks once I got it all running. I actually did the same thing with the chip legs as well and had to order a new one. Lol I don't have a cabinet so I just play mine like a console.
I'm attempting to do something similar in my Sega Blast City. Can you please tell me where you got the JAMMA Edge kick harness adapter for the Sega I/O please? I've been tearing my hair out trying to do this myself with custom JSH connectors and it's just not working...
Me again. I have a naomi 2 with net dimm on way for my NAC. What watt atx psu did u use to power the naomi2? I plam on powering the naomi via a psu then use a capcom io to convert to jamma.
It was like 450 or 500 watt ATX. Truth be told, I advise on getting an actual SUN PSU. That was what I was told to use. I'm running on SUN PSUs now for both my setups.
Could you tell me who Ken is and how I could contact him? I have a Naomi 2 that I bought a while back and I just pulled down from the shelf to get it running. The fans both turn on and lights come on, but I do not get an image and I have a message on my LCD that says "invalid format". I checked and dip switch 1 is set to 31kHz so it should work fine with this LCD. I even hooked up my dreamcast via VGA to it to make sure it got an image and it does. Perhaps I can talk with Ken and see what I could do at this point. Thank you!
@@vodkagobalsky Thank you for the response! I actually got past my issue and found out it was a sync issue that my test LCD hates. But my friend has a Naomi 2 that simply won't power up beyond the external 12v fan (board fans won't go and no LED's). I have given him Ken's info thanks to your video/description. I really appreciate it and it's awesome having people keep these things going!
@@vodkagobalsky right now I'm just trying to hook it up to an lcd to get picture. But it's not getting power. I have a 12v a 5v and a 3.3v hooked up to the system. Net dimm. Set up. But no picture
