Sega are completely out of touch with what people want and have been for a long time they just keep releasing the same old megadrive collection when they have one of the best back catalogues going it's such ashame
@@philipkempbell7174 I have seen footage from the real arcade cabinet, and I don't see any noticeable changes, aside from the things I already mentioned. What do you think is different about it? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jAEZ__88KZk.html
@@KojiThomas It’s not just the setting. The circuit layout is a shortened version of the Monaco GP circuit, as if from Sainte Devote you’d take a shortcut to Tabac. It then features corners clearly inspired by the swimming pool chicannes, Rascasse and Anthony Noghes.
I would love to see a remastered collection of arcade games like these Sega Rally, Scud Racer, Virtua Racing, F355 Challenge etc. Nice bright colours, original handling. Still praying for a remastered Ridge Racer series 😔
The more realism the less charm and imagination . The wonderful thing about games is that you can escape from reality and enter another reality that is different . This was always the case with the older games . With today’s soulless super realistic games all your doing is escaping one reality to enter pretty much the same reality that you already live so all the imagination, all the fantasy , all the charm and all the magic that makes you feel good in your heart vanishes. It’s just a simulation . Numb
Pure gameplay satisfaction from a game in a bit more than five minutes! You need talent for that. Really a masterpiece for giving such a full experience in such a short amount of time. Well done Sega!!!
I know this is an older video but just came across it after going down a retro arcade game rabbit hole. I remember being blown away by this game in the arcade when it came out; especially with the graphics and the handbrake - my teenage self was wondering "how do you even use this?!". Looking at it with older eyes, wow - how far games have come. It's a shame every arcade these days is just filled with essentially gambling games for tokens rather than what I remember - but it's not like I'm the target demographic any more. Still, good times and great memories from back in the day. Cheers for uploading footage of skills I never was able to master back in the day - that Snowy stage is always where I crapped out 👍🏼
Since 2017 i used play this with my best friend almost every time we hang out. There was a mall with a small amusement "park" section which had this game on a machine. It was dope. And also this mall was near our homes too so it was like our thing. We must have spent a lot of money on these machines 😂... But in 2020 when everything shot down because of the pandemic, the amusement park section closed. And recently they reopen it but as a new play section... sadly the Sega Rally 2 wasn't there anymore :( But i wil always cherish the memories of us playing this! Forever grateful 💙
LOVED this game back in the day! You’re clearly a veteran, wheels on the grass entering the hairpins on mountain, and the wall turns in the hairpins on riviera. I spent a fortune trying to beat the 4 minute barrier, finally did it after a few years then “retired” 😂 especially when the mad Japanese dudes (most of which had a machine in their house! 🙄) were doing 3,56:xx times!!! Was never gonna beat that!
Yeah... With time, people look for something new, and realistic. The thing about racing simulation game today is that they don't any much feature other than racing and winning. No reward.
I remember playing this in a sit down version in my local bowling alley ,ive always liked this game ,it was okay on dreamcast too but the experience of the sit down arcade version with steering wheel was just the best ,cmon sega give us this remastered
A Model 3 Step 2.0 board powered this game. The board was released in 1997 and had a PowerPC 603e CPU at 166MHz, and six Real3D Pro-1000 GPU units. By comparison, an ultra high-end PC at the time would have had a P2-300 with a Voodoo 1 GPU. That combo was roughly capable of running N64 like graphics at 30 to 60 FPS at 640x480. In other words, the Model 3 was much, much more powerful.
I miss the house music inspired music that the late 90’s racers had. Especially SEGA something was magical about 90’s and early 2000’s gaming you can just see it
dcta51 Wow it’s crazy I was thinking the same thing. Not many people will admit this. With the ps4 and the ps5 coming.. all I see developers doing is REALISM! Trying to make video games too much like real life. Who wants that. I miss fun colorful games with fun music that actually look low a video game. Instead of a trailer for a paramount pictures movie
I am.plauimg dirt rally 2015 abd having a lot of fun, but when I play arcade like outrun is magical, suddenly rhe stress of sims go away and gaming skill apears again, arcades are so fun, I will play this game as soon as I finish outrun 2006
95% of my arcade budget went on this game. Nothing was better for pure driving fun. Also played the first one, but this was far better. The driving physics is convincing, but very forgiving, you could recklessly fly into a corner and not smash the car up, like it would happen on the lastest version of DiRT Rally on modern gaming PC, arcade games back then were tight on memory, running crash graphics is extra memory and programming and work for the CPU, program will softly correct driving crashes and keep you going forward. This was a little after they started bringing out the first simple polygon based games....Virtua Racing, Virtua fighter the first ones. When processors and memory allowed that kind of data rate processing for convincing enough playable 3D environments.
I first played this on a 2 player coin op in an arcade.. I later found a 1 player, fully hydraulic, ride on machine. Blew my mind. The handbrake was easily the best feature.. Pure magic this game.
@Alessandro venturini yeah mate I'm running the supermodel gui. Right click on the app and go into compatibility mode then go into change high DPI setting you see program DPI use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in settings. Tick the box mate. Further down the page you'll see high DPI scaling override tick that box to mate apply and save obviously. You can now run in 4k on 4.3 or 16.9 without the picture going all messed up mate it looks amazing obviously you have to have a 4k TV for 4k or 1080p tv for 1080p.
I play that game on the Dreamcast via S-video input on a digital CRT televsion and it doesn’t look as sharp as what you’re getting. How are you playing the game? PC?
Since this is the arcade version of the game, I'm using a Model 3 emulator. The Dreamcast version could also be played at a higher resolution than the real thing with an emulator.
This used to cost £1 a go at the arcades and most people did not even get past the first stage. So, it cost £1 for about 2 minutes of bad driving for most people :p
Sorry, but I don't really want to make more videos with the other vehicles. Sega Rally 3 might be an option, but I would need to look into that a little more.
What input device are you using? I have a Logitech F310 joypad and it's very difficult controlling the car to me. Can you recommend me a different input device or settings I can play with? What are you using?
I don't know if there are really any settings you can change to make it any better, since I never messed around with anything like that. I used an official wired Xbox One controller for this.
@@meecob Sorry, forgot to get back to you. As far as I know, there is already a multithread feature that is turned on by default, so I don't know of anything else you can do to fix the audio. You are using a recent version of the emulator, right? Many people use version 0.2a because it's the only version to download on the download page on the Supermodel website, but it's actually very out of date.
I only really know the 3 arcade games, and I would say this one is the best. I have tried the Dreamcast version a little bit, and I do like the extra stage variations, but I didn't think the car handling was the same.
@@arronmunroe Really? The DC version isn't arcade perfect? What's your opinion on Sega Rally Revo? I just tried it today and it's very steery... You don't have to answer all these if you haven't tried them yet though ^^
@@futureicon23 The Dreamcast version of Sega Rally 2 definitely has inferior graphics. It also normally runs at 30fps, unless a code is used to cut down the graphics detail even more. As for the controls, that is something I would need to look at more to be sure it's different. I also have only barely tried out Sega Rally Revo (PSP version). I found it very difficult to steer, unlike Sega Rally 3. I found it a little bit frustrating because of that, but maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I was a little more familiar with it.
There actually was a way to play the Dreamcast version at 60fps with a cheat code that cuts down the detail, although even with that, it still drops to 30fps sometimes.
