Segway S-Pod Chair - First Ride Review 

Ok we're definitely getting closer to Wall-E

I'm disabled and that looks like my dream mobility aid :(

With my bald head I now get to look like professor X on this

*Reminds me a lot of those floating personal transporter from WALL-E.*

Back in 2008 I went to a local EV car meet in Palo Alto CA. A time when you had to build your own EV if you wanted to avoid the pump. Well there was a guy there roaming around on a sheet of plywood fitted with home brew circuitry and dual motors balanced on two wheels like a Segway. It had a very comfy a Lazy Boy recliner chair mounted on it. He controlled the "Segway" chair with a Nintendo joystick mounted on one arm rest while the other armrest had the all important drink holder on it.

I definitely can see this as a mobility application at large venues such as amusement parks , zoos etc..

Nice one. Have you asked if they plan to offer a close capsule as well for harsh weather conditions? It was nice to see all my wheels in the showroom.

I remember being at a shopping mall somewhere between 2006 and 2009 maybe? The was a guy using a self balancing wheelchair. My dad referred to it as a Segway wheelchair. I’m not sure if Segway made it or not but it was cool to see back then.

The wheelchair of the future. Already, handicapped people use mobility scooters to shop, etc.This beats everything so far.

Alternate title: Kuji becomes a danger to himself and others 🤣 I feel like it needs turning indicators, rear veiw mirrors and, a seat belt (if it doesn't have one). The self balancing moped was pretty cool.

At work one day, that crazy song called, "In The Year 2525" came on, and just when it got to the verse, "In the year 5555 Your arms hangin' limp at your sides Your legs got nothin' to do Some machine's doin' that for you", *no lie* ...someone zoomed past our sidewalk out front, riding on a Segway. It was so ironic, I laughed.

What is the advantage of driving with two wheels instead of three or four?

as someone with severe narcolepsy and goes paralyzed from the waste down on a almost daily basis i can say this looks awesome but i feel like the back shouldn’t be all one piece so it can slide down a bit. My current set up for wheelchairs is just a very lightweight one. It really gets tiring but it makes it a bit better that my service dog can pull me around since the wheelchair and me combine only way around 95 pounds. Plus i’m getting another service dog for allergies so my current service dog be doesn’t have as much stress on him. But yeah i don’t think i’m gonna get a Electric wheelchair for a while because they’re getting more and more advanced so i can get a really nice one in the future. Plus if i need help moving i can have my babies help me out!

The concept is very good, but I think Segway should look into other designs away from the fixed bucket seat. The S-Pod could carry a modern designed wheelchair either battery powered (or not) which could be recharged from the S-Pod. The accessibility this would give would make this very appealing to disabled people. They could use the S-Pod to motor (40kmh) to their destination, then disengage the wheelchair, and use it to go shopping, go into their work, or into college etc. This is what would make the S-Pod commercially viable.

Yes more E, transportation gyro balance vehicles , bikes, pods . Which ever name they want too attach too them. For city or country local transportation, ones with rain cover are more desired .

If you take it into town you need to be able to do kerbs...and you need to put it into a ford galaxy with a hoist....so it needs some shackles...
