Awesome video and the watch looks great! Thanks so much for showing and uploading the full build of this. It's what I needed to change the crystal on mine to sapphire 😁
Just wanted to pop in here and let you know that thanks to your video I successfully modded my srpe, my first mod, and have since modded two other watches about to start my first ground up build. So thank you
You’ve not only got a good pair of hands but you have a voice the BBC would be happy to have. A good mod & a great video. I took your advice & built myself an AP RO with a NH35 mov’t, I’m so happy with it. I have a guy in Singapore making a logo of my initials I’ll fit it once it arrives & that’ll be job done. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great video sir. Excellent quality. I used your advice to mod my orient mako 2. I put a solid end link jubilee bracelet, coin edge bezel with a ceramic Pepsi lumed bezel and a double domed ar crystal. Thanks I have turned it into a much nicer watch, it also has day/date probably my favorite watch at the moment. I have over 60 and I will wear a lot of different ones but I have been wearing this one for about a month.
Amazing result!!! I have always struggled trying to visualize the watches with different straps, and I saw that this watch is a strap monster, I wonder if it would still be with that Bessel. It would be nice to see a video about it!
Here's me now trying to find an SRPE on ebay... grey dial for me though Looks fantastic well done 👍🏻 Just found your channel, content right up my street. Subscribed
Great tutorial!!! I am of the opinion that this watch is too pretty to mod, but it's encouraging to know that I can replace the bezel if I do every get bored
I have one of these in black, and the Namoki clear AR crystal and black day and date wheels, and bracelet. I'd like to find some more field-watch-like stick hands, and maybe a more vintagey dial, with numerals instead of dots, but I may just go with what I have. I really prefer the clean, non-fluted bezel.
Awesome video. I'm just about to have a try at doing this. Do you think a polished chapter ring would have made it stand out better or is brushed the way to go?
i have a seiko skx007 i just get a president bracelet solid end links center and sides polished.... nice... now i want to know is what you did for this seiko5 can be done on my skx007( bezel replacement with a datejust bezel)
Great video! I would like to mod my srpe with futted bezel but I’m wondering if I need to replace the crystal or can I still use the original crystal? Thank you!
No difference in quality, I’m pretty sure the parts come from the same factory. For NamokiMods I do have a discount code: seikomodsdubai5 - please do use my referral link too: www.namokimods.com/?ref=seikomodsdubai
In theory it’s possible, yes, but as it’s so easy to drop the movement out I’d still suggest removing it - for cleaning the inside of the glass once it’s on for example if needed
Need some help with decisions. There is a fluted Seiko 5 with NH36 for sale in my country for 500$ and its the only one. Should i make it a first project to do make it on my own if i find some cheaper Seiko 5 or should i just buy this one that is for sale? Like is the amount of time and money less than those 500$ for a brand new mod?
It depends on the watch you mean, this particular model I would offer at this price: svkwatches.ae/search?q=datejust&options%5Bprefix%5D=last I’d be surprised if someone was offering the exact same watch and parts used at $500. Of course it will be less to build yourself, a difference of maybe $200 - but you’d need the tools, parts, and knowledge to do it right first time
Unfortunately not. As the seiko bracelet isn’t tapered the clasp would be too wide. If you want a plain clasp though you could get the bracelet from Watch&style - they have the exact same bracelet but with a plain clasp
@@svkwatches I was going the opposite way, wanted a seiko clasp on the unbranded Jubilee. Thank you for answering. Also to replace the crystal and bezel do I need a "sacrificial case back?" I doubt the only spare I have fits the back of it and I'd hate to destroy the crystal on it
Hi, I’ve listed this model on my website: svkwatches.ae/products/srpe63-datejust-built-to-order?_pos=1&_psq=datejust&_ss=e&_v=1.0 you’ll see the price there and shipping is $28usd too
That disrupts the simplicity and readability of the design IMHO. This watch is too much in the 'sports' category than 'dress' to have this bezel which is really associated with the Datejust. Only mod should be the strap.
Good job but I don't understand why and why? Seiko 5 has a Datejust-like model, so it might be easier to buy a Datejust-like model right away. to be honest, almost every company makes a watch that looks like the Datejust and you can buy a watch from any brand that looks like a Rolex. the most interesting thing is that Internet experts for some reason criticize the Chinese, but do not criticize well-known watch brands for the same
I have seen many 5 sports divers watches without a screw down crown and very very delicate second hands that will fall of the pivot with a hard shake ! Quality is real bad except the whole case at best!
I just looked at the site you recommended. It's just awful. the prices are simply unrealistic. sometimes more than 10:20 times more expensive than the same parts on AliExpress If you know how to search there. I don't think it's fair to recommend this seller
Feel free to try the aliexpress sellers, the quality is simply not the same - I don’t get anything for recommending the likes of Watch&Style or Namoki, I just trust their parts quality and if anything is wrong they will fix it, simple as that.
@@svkwatches It’s not true! I actually have experience mostly positive and I’ll time I get something Wrong I get my money back its usual way of cheap sellers blame other good sellers
