Wow, what a fantastic time piece! Not for me even though I’m a musician (guitar player) but undeniably a unique and niche tool watch, and the white dial!!!! The metronome function the way the minute hand becomes the metronome is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen on a watch
Yes, it’s sort of a novelty for musicians, as most use apps now a days. BUT it’s useable. Almost like dive watches are useable but not practical anymore with dive computers having advanced so much. The swing of the pendulum/hand in metronome mode is awesome!
I just placed an order for a navy colored one, SMW004A. I'm so excited! 😆 The only thing that would make it cooler is if it vibrates and muted. That'll be a nice way to keep pace while playing. Almost feels like a cheat code 🥁🥁
Oooh, yeah vibration might be cool, then (depending on instrument) you could play with it on. This feels like more of a practice tool than performance, though, as it should be. It does mute, by the way.
I know, right?! This was the first time trying it on the mesh bracelet that came with my Cadola Aviateur. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lOXSAJ5g2sE.html
You didn’t get an instruction booklet under the display insert? I just took a guess, ala G-Shock protocol. After the video I skimmed through it. Might even be able to sync this to the second, as I remember it saying something about starting at :00 seconds once you confirm the time is set.
@@WatchWitt oh would you look at that... A booklet under the display insert haha! I seen the warranty booklet on top and assumed that's all there was. Thanks!
Ah…I see now. It’s because the hands are motorized (like in this one) and dance around to wherever they need to be on the dial, due to function setting. Pretty cool! I had never seen one…
I feel it's too small for me, but I have a large wrist--8 inches. My trick of bulking up the watch a little via a NATO strap may do the trick for you, though. I saw someone post this on a mustard yellow, ribbed NATO and it looked awesome!
Apparently Seiko makes traditional and digital metronomes as well. The bigger question is, can we see this motor technology in a traditional three hand quartz? That would be awesome! My guess is the battery would fry from the second hand sweep, and/or motor burn out.
Thanks for the affirmation...I have a hard time with smaller watches. In the end, I think it comes down to personal tastes. Same for big watches on smaller wrists. If you love it, wear it! Ha!
@@WatchWitt I was playing with that function. Pretty cool. Not crazy about the band so might need to change that up. Overall good watch. Even if it’s a gift to a friend lol.
No, it doesn’t. That would be helpful, depending on which instrument you play, but probably a battery drainer and the function would make the watch bigger too. So, just sound and/or visual reference.
Hi, had this watch for about a year now and I just ran into a little trouble with the watch. When I'm using the metronome, the hand doesn't oscillate symmetrically and when I switch to the tuning mode, the hand doesn't lie on the right pitch. If anyone has this problem and solved it, please let me know!
Haven't had that problem yet, but I'm going to guess the battery is too weak to propel the motors correctly. Do you use the metronome and tuning features frequently? A fresh battery is the best/cheapest process of elimination!
Well, I can't speak from a music expert standpoint, but I think the limitations are because it's a watch...not a sophisticated electronic metronome. Only so many features translate with the limited size, button functionality, battery limitations, and visual real estate on the dial. I think it's a compromise of form and function.
How any sensitive musician can tolerate pitched (beeping) metronomes baffles me. It's pitch information (i.e. it produces a musical note) and interferes with the music. Wood block sounds or simple clicks are far superior.
I agree. But I think this is more of a novelty watch. I mean, it works for its intended purpose, but I'd rather rely upon the visual of the pendulum than the tone.
Sweet! How long have you had it? Trying to get a better idea of when they came out. I first saw them a couple of months ago. Surprisingly big color selection of color variations!
@@WatchWitt yeah, I ordered mine in June, i think. I think I saw them released last year. But, yeah, I've only seen one other video on it before yours..
Yeah, I think this is the color that best matches the function. You have to be careful on eBay as well. This is the second one I bought. The first seller (lower price) said there was an “issue” with the watch and asked me to cancel. So I placed this order with a seller that had previously sold 10 or 12 of the same watch. And it actually arrived very fast via FedEx.
They're hard to find, so the price is going to vary. I paid $210 USD. Pretty steep for what it is Watch-wise, but there's nothing else like it AND it's Japan Domestic Market only, so a premium is to be expected.
